Not really. Or at least, they've failed miserably with that goal up until Rodimus.
Grimlock borrows more from the toy than he does the cartoon in robot mode (Dinosaur mode is a different story).
Optimus borrows from dozens of sources, as well as adding it's own designs. He's full of design cues that were never seen in the cartoon or the comics or the toys.
Starscream's goal was to make as realistic a jet as possible, with the robot being the secondary priority. As such, he's chock full of features never present on Starscream before. He was even given samurai design cues, intentionally.
Megatron is just one comical hot mess that fails miserably at everything it tries to do, aside from being the same size as Optimus. It's not toy accurate. It's not cartoon accurate. It's not really anything.

Cartoon accuracy isn't the priority/theme for the line as an overview. It only comes in on the individual level, like Rodimus.

The first MP Optimus is probably the most successful of the line. The form is the same just with some nessesary details. But I will agree theyre all an amalgamation of both the cartoon and toy put together. I know what your saying about the seeker designs, especially the kibble, but unless engineering takes a huge leap in few years, its the best we are going to get(until they redesign the classics version).

On the topic of MPs, to me, the $60 you pay for the US release is a steal. And really, Roddy isn't that bad. I think he's great actually. Once you get the tricky ankle transformation figured out (into alt mode) he is a breeze. Awesome articulation, paint apps are good, the only chipping I have had is on the canopy hinge which is a common problem. He's not as good as Grimlock but, he damn good on his own.

Well, for the seekers... again, not really. The deviations in his robot design, again, were intentional. There was another, more cartoon accurate MP Starscream that was designed (I can't remember if it was the same guy, or different). The designer of what we got then decided to go a different direction. He wanted a more accurate jet, and he wanted to use the kibble differently to make the robot sleeker, and put in the samurai design cues.
There was a prototype of the original design made, and takara showed off pictures of it once. I don't know if TF Wiki has them or not, though.

As for Classics... I would very much like to see that mold retired, and a new design made.
Maybe a new deluxe Armada style Starscream, or pre AHM rubbish IDW.

Exactly. I used the same one for Roddy too, so at less then retail he's a solid figure. Offshoot is just icing on the cake. And to me, usually one of the 2 modes for a TF, for the sake of accuracy, is compremised in some way. Hot Rod nails it on both levels, just like Grimmy.

yea, IDW, Im loving what theyre doing right now. As someone whos read TF comics since forever, the depth of what theyre doing is so different than what weve seen before. Then theres the continuity issues......But I dont even remember whats going on from like....four months ago.

Howevor, I did like what Dreamwave was putting out. Ill give them credit for trying a little bit to work with cartoon continuity and screwed us in the end. They left off with the construction of autobot city.

I adored what IDW was doing, until they took it away from Furman and let McCarthy drive it off a cliff.
Since then, only Last Stand and Maximum Dinobots have been decent.

But isn;t that par for the course for Dreamwave? Screwing everyone in the end?

ok so i decided to keep my rodimus.

then came actually transforming him. Lets call it an experience in itself. For thoase who own him the hands are the most frustrating thing about the process. You know what I did? i unclipped the hands and now the world is a better place. Everything fits so much better. I also need to wd-40 the cockpit cause its jsut too tight. the button doesnt do squat. It took me 2 hours of fiddling around with this ****sucker to make it work.

remember kids, the hands have to come off.

Is it worth the buy? yes if you like to display your stuff. No, if you want to actually try and play with it. Driving it on the carpet is fine, but I warn against driving it on a hard surface because of the underside. I cant over emphasize hoe much of a low rider this guy is. And Lastly, he has TWO matrixs' Why? I dunno.

The thing with the hands isn't necessary, here is a pic to illustrate-

and the 2 matices are so one can be kept in the chest and one he is actually able to hold with his goofy hands as shown on the box. The Takara version only came with the smaller one.

The one in the pic? Yes. Thats the Takara version. Getting his alt mode to fit together properly all lies in the ankles. If those hinges aren't lined up just right, NOTHING will go together. I had the same problem. Let me see if I can find a pic to show you the alignment.

Ok here we go-

also from Cheebs. That hinge is very fiddly, the first leg will go in fine. It's putting the other in that the joint wants to pop out by one click. And its thats one click that will bind the rest of the transformation up.

I hope to get this resized to fit max sig regulations, Photobuckets resizing is kindly wonky and I can't get it nearly big enough to accord to the rules.

I'd say pick it up to trade with a transfan who is looking for him. Since you really have no interest in him, picking him up just because he is "rare", sucks for other collectors who haven't found one yet.

I had to ask, I wasn't the only one on the page who posted ones. Thank you sir, I appreciate it!

Megatron is awesome, imagine the delight finding him at 5 Below for $3! Made it all the more better.

Again, thanks for the kind words, I'm really enjoying the community over here.
