Images have been posted on the Tokuma-EC shop as well as in the recent edition of the Hyper Hobby magazine showing off what the upcoming Japanese Transformers Animated Black Version will look like. A Hyper Hobby magazine mail-in exclusive, this version of Animated Rodimus borrows a few cues from the Botcon 2008 Shattered Glass Rodimus, featuring a very appealing black and purple color scheme.
Check out the images and scans of the Hyper Hobby Magazine pages, brought to you courtesy of 2005 Boards member Ricochet, after the jump. |

Here's something special for you today. Ever felt that Generation 1 Megatron's face could be more show accurate? 2005 Boards member Bellyboy delivers! He has produced a rather cool custom piece, a replacement face for Generation 1 Megatron. It comes in two different variations and makes the Decepticon leader seem a bit more like his old self from the Generation 1 cartoon. Check out a video review - courtesy of 2005 Boards staff member Internet Personality Vangelus - below, and then after the jump read the thread charting the entire design process of this custom piece.

KOToys has posted some in hand images of the upcoming Voyager Class Reveal the Shield Autobot, Solar Storm Grappel. Grappel, or Grapple to fans of the original show, is a remolded version of Transformers Universe Inferno, sporting a huge amount of remolded and redesigned parts to make him much more than a simple color change. Check out the images after the jump to see Grappel compared to one of Universe Inferno's recolors, Botcon 2010's Pyro.

eBay seller and maker of custom unofficial Worlds Smallest type Transformers HeeroToysMaker has recently begun to list a trio of new unofficial WST Ultra Magnus recolors on his Ebay store. Two of the three versions are based on existing recolors of Generation 1 Ultra Magnus - Shining Ultra Magnus and Ultra Magnus Movie Preview Version. The third is an all-clear, glow-in-the-dark version of Ultra Magnus. Check out images of all three after the jump.
Remember, these are unofficial items and are in no way connected to the official Smallest Transformable Transformers collection released by Takara. |

Next up we have a new sighting for you. 2005 Boards member Hye6640 picked up the latest, and by virtue of no others being announced so far, last (for the time being) Human Alliance toy, Shadow Blade Sideswipe. Holder of the dubious honor of being the first recolor in the Human Alliance line, Shadow Blade Sideswipe was found at a Walmart in Visalia, Ca.

In addition to the first images of Black Animated Rodimus which we reported on earlier today, the new edition of Hyper Hobby magazine includes lots of other cool Transformers stuff. Foremost among it is a two page spread focusing on the other hot Rodimus toy in the works - Masterpiece Rodimus Prime. These new images show off all the main angles on the vehicle modes, plus comparisons with Generation 1 Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime. There's also some nice images showing some of the many gimmicks and accessories.
Also covered are Autobot Alliance Brimstone, Hubcap and Elita-1. Elita-1 is well documented for her differences to the US released version, and there are not many differences to Brimstone or Hubcap worth speaking of. What is worth mentioning are the final two mainline releases in the Japanese Transformers Animated line that are on show - Electrostatic Soundwave and Blazing Lockdown. Soundwave has silver in place of the muted purple on the US release, while Lockdown somehow manages to look even more gold than before. And speaking of gold, it's the Lucky Draw Animated Megatron! There's a new picture of him in a different pose on show. Last but not least, there's also a new image of the new Transformers Gum series 2 Ultra Magnus, Skyfire and Prowl. Check out our mirror of all the scans, kindly provided by 2005 Boards member Masabon, after the jump. |

Thanks to TFAW (Things From Other Worlds), we now have the Release Date of Transformers 3: Rising Storm; the immediate prequel comic book series for Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. Mark it on your calendars, it’s 5th January, 2011.
“Why is this release date so special?” you might ask. It’s because, unless the production behind the 3rd Transformers Movie officially reveal the Names/Concept Art of the new Autobots and Decepticons, "Rising Storm" might just be our first chance to meet them. Those who are working behind the scenes at IDW for this 4 part series are: John Barber – Currently the head writer of Transformers: Sector 7 Carlos Magno – Artist and Cover Artist (Cover B) of Transformers: Nefarious Brian Rood – Cover Artist (Cover A) for Transformers: Nefarious Read the Plot Summary of the 1st issue of the series, after the jump due to Spoiler reasons. |

Crazy Devy have posted a further two updates on their blog. The first is their next set, CDMW-14, which is a gigantic sword for Generation 1 Predaking (which quite possibly goes to the opposite end of the scale from "too small" with the original sword to "too big"). It's quoted as being 227 mm or 9 inches long.
Also posted is an update about the CDMW-13 Superion Chest and Rifle set - it will also come with a bonus faceplate piece, to recreate the look of Superion's head in the original cartoon series. |

Board member D-Drive has stopped by to provide us with Diamond Comics' Shipping List for next Wednesday, November 10th! The list is short this week with 1 comic, but it's a great one!
Transformers Ongoing #13 (and it's incentive) Mike Costa (w) o Nick Roche (a) o Don Figueroa, Roche (c) RODIMUS might be impulsive, but he's not stupid. The last anyone saw of him, he was rocketing off Earth in disgrace and a stolen ship. In this issue we finally see where he went, what his plan was, and which long-absent DECEPTICONS he came up against. Mike Costa and fan-favorite artist Nick Roche deliver a stand-alone issue that sets up the entire second year of the hit ongoing series. *2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ra |

Good bye Convoy! Our sponsors TFSource have put up a listing for MP-1L Masterpiece Convoy "Final" Edition. Details are sketchy but it sounds like this is going to be the release that will see the retirement of the awesome Masterpiece Convoy / 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime design which has been seeing roughly a new release every year since 2004. No word on what accessories the release might include or what paint variations might be thrown in, with the exception that the sound stage - a mail in in the 2010 celebration in Japan - will be included with new voicebites by Genda Tessho (voice of Convoy in the original Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers cartoon in Japan, the Japanese dub of the original 1984 cartoon). One of these new voicebites will apparently reveal the identity of the next Masterpiece toy to be released after Rodimus Convoy.

Toynova have posted pictures of an add-on "complimentary parts set" to go with the Crazy Devy Predaking Wings set. As you might remember, the Predaking wings that Crazy Devy released were prone to causing damage to the vintage Divebomb wings they attached to. This set aims to alleviate that, by providing smaller thinner wings to replace the vintage ones, and also providing a brace to support the wings when attached to Predaking's back.
Might want to wait for some more feedback before pulling the trigger on this one though. Not only are the wings expensive and carry the risk of damaging your Predaking, they are not officially licensed by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy, so they are only unofficial custom items, purely for mature collectors. |

The latest assortment of Transformers Power Core Combiners Five-Packs have been released. This assortment, which contains Crankcase and the Destrons plus Stakeout and the Protectobots, recolors toys from the first wave of Power Core Combiners, but makes good use of the mix and match playability of the line to create some new and unique combinations. They were spotted at a Toys R Us in California by 2005 boards photo staff member Panzerjedi.
