For many months that came after the big reveal of Ferrari 458 Italia being an Autobot on Transformers 3, fans debated the identity of the bot. Fan favorite name was Hot Rod.
But during the Chicago filming a name came up… Rush. The name alone was enough to stir up the hornets’ nest. This was quickly subdued by Nelson, mentioning that the car was parked on Rush Street. Today, thanks to Nelson… we foundout that the script actually had referred the Ferrari as Rush during the early stages of filming (a pet name like Wheelbot and Skipjack who turned out to be Scavenger/Demolishor and Rampage respectively). And then… when Hasbro revealed their upcoming Speed Stars line, the name Mirage came into public attention. This was later plastered onto everyone’s minds by the Transformers: Dark of the Moon tie-in Comic Books, Novel and Video Game. Just when everything seems all fine and dandy, all hell broke loose (seriously, I couldn’t find a better word for the situation) with the information told by Michael Bay Official Website Administrator; Nelson Lauren at S4TE as well as on TFW2005 Boards. He brings to the table some reasons as to why the name Mirage will not appear on the movie. Nelson says that the Ferrari 458 Italia will be called by another name and will have an Italian Accent. The name itself is now a mystery as Nelson says that the car/Autobot in question is now named after a famous Italian. At the moment this is highly debatable, but it is best to wait a month and findout the name of the car which Jeremy Clarkson [of Top Gear] once as "the first properly pretty Ferrari since the 308". |

Even more Kre-O news! Up next we have official images of the Kre-O Sentinel Prime and Megatron sets in their robot modes. Megatron you might have seen on the front of the box earlier on, so this is a better look at him, but it is Sentinel Prime who is the star of this news post. The Kre-O set as we reported is based on Dark of the Moon Sentinel Prime and features his giant sword weapon and shield. The head though diverges in style a bit, with a more Generation 1 style and a slight influence from Animated Sentinel Prime. Check out both official images, which originated from Select2gether, for a look at these building block versions of classic characters.

A couple of new auctions for Kre-O Transformers have popped up on Ebay. First up is Megatron, a new and much clearer image than before. The back of the package is also shown, and a cross-sell confirms the existence of a Kre-O Sentinel Prime based on the Dark of the Moon design. Starscream is also shown in package - not such high res images, and we've had official images of him, but still noteworthy and interested. Click on the above links to check out both listings.

We've got one more gallery update for you before Botcon 2011 kicks off - and in the spirit of the event, it's a Transformers Animated themed update! You undoubtedly saw earlier that Marcelo will have a print of the Starscream clone army available at Botcon - well here for your enjoyment are toys of two of the clones. These guys were only released in Japan through a Family Mart lottery draw, so they are very rare, especially Ramjet who was a mail away prize in exchange for non-winning tickets.
First up is Animated Activators Skywarp, the "C" Prize of the Family Mart prize draw. Bizarrely he's got a purple head in this iteration, although it does suit him and nicely break up all that black. He's a fun deco, and with the Activators of Starscream and Thundercracker, he rounds out the trio of the original Seekers in at least one size class for Animated. Next up is Animated Activators Ramjet. Ramjet was the "second chance" prize, redeemable by sending in tickets for the lowest ranked items in the prize draw. This makes him the hardest of the Activators Seekers to get hold of, even harder than Dirge, but take a look at the gallery and you'll see he is well worth it. Give mad props to 2005 Boards Photo Staff member SydneyY for bringing you these two galleries of awesome rare Animated goodness - and be sure to join us after Botcon for even more Animated goodness, when we share with you pictures of the convention exclusive toys in all their glory. |

TakaraTomy seems to have this unrequited love of shiny paint, don't they? First Transformers Animated and then Transformers United had some superlative metallic finishes for their Japanese release, and now it seems the Movie series is getting the same treatment. No, we're not talking about Sideswipe - though goodness knows that would be very nice - what we are talking about is the next run of EZ Series toys to be released. A set of six are coming, according to Snakas, using the Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class toys (and Movie 1 Ratchet). The decos are slightly more real world and make use of metallic finishes according to the solicitation which was initially posted by Snakas. The official name of the set appears to be "EZ Collection Real".

Atomic Laser, who made the reproduction sets for the Generation 1 1984 Tech Specs, returns with volume 2 in a two part set for year 1985. The Tech Specs have been digitally recreated from the ground up as new super clean high resolution artwork. The art has been fine tuned. Color matching ensures consistency throughout every card in the set. The "coding" on this set is done in the 1985 style. It's a set of 22 cards, covering the remaining section of Generation 1, and if you like what you can see, you can purchase it at our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store and TFSource.

Got the word from MTV…
"As Linkin Park's musical vision gets more expansive and ambitious, so too have their videos. We've got a sneak peek of "Iridescent," the lead single off the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon soundtrack. And if the clip below is any indication of the entire video, the band has fully embraced their sci-fi side, as the hand (of God?) reaches out to a group of people wholly obscured by sheets. Meanwhile, Mike Shinoda caresses a snake, while a H.R. Giger-esque creature scans a floating, holographic rotating polygon. Directed by band member Joe Hahn, "Iridescent" is the fourth single from the band's fourth album A Thousand Suns. And don't forget to watch the full-length "Iridescent" video when it premieres Thursday, June 2, on MTV and MTV.com." You can read the Press Release and watch the Video Sneak Peek, after the jump. Update: Linkin Park has uploaded the Behind-The-Scenes video to their Official YouTube Channel. Continue on to enjoy that as well. |
