Here's some fresh hot off the press news from TFCon! At the Hasbro booth, we confirmed that Transformers Prime "first edition" will release in November-December 2011. The full non first edition line will launch in March 2012. This will be the time that Transformers Dark of the Moon toys will move off shelves and completely switch over to Transformers Prime.
In other news, Transformers Dark of the Moon's product line is planned to completely be on shelves by the end of 2011. Mirage is not yet confirmed but I believe there's still a wave or two we've yet to see, based on what they were telling me. Stay tuned for more TFCon coverage - the Hasbro panel is up next, although I'm told it's the same as the SDCC one. Watch this space! |

A new Dark of the Moon toy has been released at US retail (sighted in San Antonio TX) and this time it's at TRU. The Cyberverse Cybertronian Warriors set has crept out without much announcement or fanfare. Mentioned at Botcon, this set consists of redecos of Bumblebee with the Mobile Command Bunker, Commander Ironhide, Crankcase and Ironhide. It is the set that has a little fun with the fact that one of the Bumblebee cars had an accident with a cop during the filming of Dark of the Moon. The price is reported to be a whopping $40 plus tax though making this one a pricey bit of Transformers fun to own.

Last but by no means least in this gallery of images from TFCon are some images from the Hasbro booth. On show were some really cool items including Kre-O, Ultimate Optimus Prime, The Ark and Transformers Prime Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee and the Bumblebee Role Play Blaster. The role play blaster is a cool little toy, and I am sure kids (or adults like shibamura_prime) will love it. Yes, as you might remember from previous years, Hasbro Canada let guests come along and take a look at these awesome pre-release toys. I got a chance to mess with Prime Bumblebee, and he is an excellent toy with a cool and intuitive transformation who looks great in both modes.
Read on and check out all the pics! |

Here now for your viewing pleasure are some images from the TFCon customs and art contest display. There were loads of great pieces on display and all are worthy of recognition but in particular some of the pieces that stuck out to me include:
- A Transformers Animated piece, based on the classic X-Men "Days of Future Past" cover. - Custom Animated Robots in Disguise Car Brothers - Animated Rodimus Primes - both of them - A Beast Wars Squirrel! - A very cool movieverse styled Laptop Transformer. - An awesome piece based on Ninjaka from Generation 1 Season 3. - Classics styled Omega Spreem! - Cybertronian mode Jazz But really and truly, all the entries were excellent this year, and it would be an injustice to only recognize these ones. Be sure to check out all the images attached to this post for some of the best art and custom work I've seen at a Transformers convention. Also by way of a special shoutout, attached to the end of this story are some images of a custom set not in the contest. They are the Wreckers, designed by the customizers of Cybertron.CA to be sold in a charity auction will all proceeds going to Fallen Heroes. Not only is this an example of some truly excellent workmanship and customizing, but it is also all for a very good cause. Be sure to check them out as well - they are the last images in this gallery. |

TFW2005.COM's very own E-magazine, TFWe, has released their monthly third issue. This month, TFWe is all about Dark of the Moon!
Click here to check out TFWe Issue 03! This month, with Editor-in-Chief Kickback tied up in that thing we like to call the real-life, Sol Fury has taken the reigns and steered the crew in the right direction - towards Dark of the Moon! Be sure to check out our "TFWe Reviews Dark of the Moon" special feature, as it was probably the most chaotic thing I have partaken in over the last few years (a live chat room). Check out what TFWe's staff had to say about the movie, and for a laugh, check out our outtakes at the end of the issue. Shin Densetsu writes the longest thing I've ever read in his "Reign of Starscream" article, looking at Starscream from the original movie to Dark of the Moon, toy-wise. A lot of pictures. A lot information. A fun, good read. Secretcode tells us why Laserbeak is the greatest thing from Dark of the Moon, and Sol Fury puts his neck on the line by writing an editorial explaining why he thinks the live action movies are the best thing to ever happen to Transformers. What are you waiting for? Click here and read Issue 03 of TFWe! NOTE: The PDF of this issue will be released very, very soon. Timing issues caused us not to be able to launch them simoltaneously ... so if you're an avid PDF reader, cheat and check this one out before you can take it with you! |

Slagacon has updated their website to announce a Non-Attendee package for their upcoming convention, and for their upcoming Vector Zeta Add-on kit for Classics Optimus Prime.
There has been a lot of interest in our exclusive for Slagacon 2011, the Vector Zeta armor set, and we thank everyone who’s purchased one so far. One of the most common requests we’ve seen, both here and on TF fan boards across the ‘net, is the desire for a non-attendee package. After much deliberation, we’ve decided to open up Vector Zeta to the general public. Hit the jump for the rest of the info. |

At TFCon this weekend, Simon Furman was selling copies of the script to The War Within The Age of Wrath issue 5, and a summary of issue 6 for which the script was never written. We've written a brief summary of both issues for your enjoyment, if you - like us - want to know how this great series would have concluded. Check out the summaries below:
The War Within Volume 3 The Age of Wrath Issue 5 The War Within Volume 3 The Age of Wrath Issue 6 Get up to speed with what went before by viewing our summaries of the previous four issues here: Transformers The War Within Volume 3 The Age of Wrath Also be sure to check out the rest of our Transfomers Comics Resources section for more information on Transformers comics past and present. On behalf of the entire Transfomers fandom, I would like to thank Simon Furman for sharing the scripts of these unreleased Transfomers comics with us. The folding of Dreamwave was a sad event, as was all the drama that accompanied it. To finally learn how these stories ended is a true gift to us all. So if you should meet Simon Furman at a convention down the road, be sure to give him some massive props for all he has done for Transformers, and our fandom. |

TFW Board Member Ricochet strikes again, this time with photos of the toys for the Japanese McDonalds Transformers campaign. The Optimus Prime and Bumblebee are made of soft vinyl material and move at the shoulders and hips and are based off the Movieverse designs, whereas the food phone strap toys are based on the Transformers Prime designs.

Following on from the third party product reveals at TFCon 2011 yesterday, several of the third party groups have posted up clearer images and information on their future products.
G1Uppers have shared a clearer view of the lineart for the head for their Animated Menasor custom. It's going to be limited to 1'500 sets, BBTS and Toyarena are the US distributors. Headrobots have shared an update regarding Blood (currently in production and will ship out shortly) as well as the first info on Drone. Also good news about Iguana - apparently it's not cancelled as reported, there was just no new info to share on it. Lastly, Mastermind Collectibles has released some new images of their Hexatron Custom Sixshot. |

According to Autobase Aichi, the DVD that is included with a purchase of a Happy Meal this week at Japanese McDonald's, there is a mention of a new "McDonald's Trailer Optimus Prime" that can store the "Food Straps". The product image in the DVD is in silhouette and more details are to be announced from TakaraTomy's website soon. Strangely enough, the Optimus Prime toy appears to be the Dark Of The Moon Voyager mold with a McDonalds "M" logo. How this toy will be available to consumers is unknown but we'll keep you updated. 2005 Board member Ricochet has included some screen shots from the new dvd of this new trailer and Optimus figure in silhouette.
Additionaly, some new images popped up over the weekend of the new food strap Happy Meal toys and you can see them here |

With all the excitement of TFCon now passed (and what a great weekend it was), we now turn to the third of the big three summer Transformers conventions: Auto Assembly. AA2011 is less than two weeks away, and there is plenty of news about the 2011 and the 2012 conventions.
First and foremost, we've got the program for the events across the whole weekend. An update went out by email within the last two days, detailing the various panels, contests and other activities taking place. Read on for the full text of this update. The key panels taking place across the weekend include Auto Assembly's first ever Friday panel, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Simon Furman's legendary UK story Target 2006. This panel is hosted by Nick Roche and also includes Simon Furman and Geoff Senior. Saturday will see a panel with Gregg Berger, while Sunday's program includes panels with David Kaye, David Wise, and Death's Head! Other events across the weekend include contests for Artwork, Kitbash, Mosaic, and Cosplay, a Beast Wars Transmetals videogame tournament and a Transformers Connect 4 tournament. Another great event over the weekend is that Hasbro UK will have a display of upcoming Transformers products. The display is billed as showcasing some of the latest Transformers available - so probably nothing groundbreaking in terms of upcoming products, but still a nice chance to see some toys yet to hit the UK in the flesh. Last but by no means least, let's look ahead to 2012 and Auto Assembly 2012. Bookings are open now for Auto Assembly 2012 and already in the first few days nearly 50 tickets for the 2012 event have been sold. This may well be Auto Assembly's first ever sell-out event! Auto Assembly 2012 will take place on 3-5 August at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel (near Birmingham International Airport) in Birmingham, UK. I look forward to seeing many of you there! |

IDW’s new editor John Barber shared his thoughts on Hasbro’s Transformers and G. I. Joe Franchises.
“Q: Would I be right in saying the movie comics are currently done until what happens next with the franchise is decided? A: I can’t confirm or deny anything right now. I’m just not sure what we’re going to do about moving forward. Its one of the things on the agenda I have to talk about when I get to IDW. We’ll see where everything stands and figure it out from there. Q: After planning and plotting through three major, and well-received movie-verse comic series - how would you describe your Transformers perspective/history/vision to fans that might not know much about you, other than your work? A: The thing I wanted to do going into the movie-verse was respect it and what had gone on before, and also tell stories I felt people would want to pick up. You know, if they had never seen a comic or maybe they’d come out of the movie theatre and they wanted some more. As much as the continuity stuff played a role in it—and as big a length as I went to not contradict or retcon anything—to me, the main thing was that you could pick up Foundation or Rising Storm and get a whole new set of adventures with these characters. You know, sometimes you see these movie tie-ins, and I’m not speaking of the Transformers ones, I mean historically throughout the history of comic books, and the worst ones for me are those that focus in on one specific continuity issue, or thread, that someone really wouldn’t care about. You should be able to enjoy these without necessarily knowing what came before.” You can read more (and not just movie-verse, mind you) over at IDW. |
