Thanks to TFClub, we now have even more shots of some upcoming TFC Toys products such as some more photos of a few of the toys from the highly-anticipated Hercules, an SD-style Optimus Prime, the upcoming Reflector-ish DSLR, and future entries into their Targetroid subline.
Do you like what you see? Have an interest in having your very own Exgraver to rock the horns? Discuss away in the discussion thread over here. |

Finishing up our look at scans from Generations 2011 Volume 2 by The Allspark we have some scans from the Design Maniax DX section of the book. This section highlights the work of Generation 1 concept art designer Masakatsu Saito who did a lot of work on the late 80s series of toys, and collects his lineart concepts for some of the toys he worked on. Some of the concepts are very familiar and recognizable - others are very out there. Among the concepts in this section of the book are:
Generation 1 Overlord - with some alternate head concepts that would have been a second cockpit for the jet when the "Mega Child" section was deployed. Generation 1 Pretenders Cloudburst, Landmine, Waverider, Bomb-Burst, Skullgrin, Submarauder, Iguanus and Roadblock - these are pretty different to their actual toys, in fact I'm only guessing that reptilian design belongs to Iguanus! The Autobot Pretenders notably would have had more animal themed suits, with their inner robots looking more like a tokusatsu metal hero design or VR Troopers than the Transformers we know. The Decepticon trio look similar in Pretender mode, but their inner robots notably look more organic, like cybernetic versions of their shell beasts. Ironically this is the route IDW took to re imagining these guys years later! Transformers Victory Concepts including Star Saber, Great Shot, Road Caesar, Deathsaurus and Liokaiser. These mostly look like the final versions, although Liokaiser has sketches of a large melee weapon formed from melee weapons of the six individual robots - this turns up a bit in the animation (but without the combining weapons) but is completely absent on the toys. Action Master Concepts. Oh boy, where to begin on these? First off, we have different versions of Action Master Optimus Prime, Jazz, Grimlock, Prowl, Starscream and Megatron where instead of having transforming partners, they have animal themed armors, which turned into guns. This concept, while not used at this point, returned for the final assortment which was only released in Europe, Canada and Australia. On the same page are an unknown Omega Sentinel and Sharkticon which may or may not be Action Masters. There are other concepts, including Action Master Elites Omega Spreem and Double Punch, but most interestingly, next to these there is an Action Master proportioned concept sketch of Rodimus / Hot Rod - could an Action Master Hot Rodimus have once been designed but canned? And next to him, concept sketches of Arcee - was she also intended for an Action Master release? Endless questions abound in this chunk of the concept artwork, really cool. Lastly there are some later generation scans showing Generation 2 concepts. A lot of this we got, but check out the shorter, squatter proportions on Generation 2 Megatron and also Go-Bot Bumblebee with his traditional head. It's all rounded off by concepts of each version of Beast Wars Optimus Primal / Convoy including Lio Convoy and Big Convoy. That's a whole lot of good stuff! Many thanks once again to The Allspark for sharing all this great content with the fan community. |

From the old... to the new! Moving away now from toys that we never got, let's take a look at some scans of an awesome and upcoming toy - Masterpiece Convoy Version 2.0. This new mold Masterpiece Optimus Prime is looking, well, Prime. Fantastically detailed and sized between the original 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime and the Generation 1 Optimus Prime, this new Masterpiece also comes with a little Spike mini-figure and his trailer, with Roller this time. Could it be the greatest Masterpiece yet? It's due out later this month so you won't have long to wait and find out!

If Fortress Maximus was the biggest Transformer ever made, then Generation 1 Unicron was the biggest Transformer never released. These next scans that we are highlighting chart the tale of two toys that were never released. The first was Generation 1 Unicron, although evidently from these images, there were three of them. The early prototype is very different to the other unreleased prototypes which have been shown in the past.
The other is the well-documented Beast Wars Neo Unicron. Unicron's resurrection was a major plot point in the show, and his return was to be recognised with a new toy - but due to a number of factors it was not to be. Shown here is "Neocron" in all his glory. There are demonstrations of his transformation, full views on his robot mode from front side and back, even views of the gimmicks. Neither of these toys ever saw the light of day, and it was not until Transformers Armada that we finally got a Unicron toy at mass retail. Check these images out to see the previous attempts at rendering the great big bad of Transformers in toy form. These images (and many others) brought to you by our fellow fans at The Allspark. |

Next up in the cavalcade of early Transformers scannage - Generation 1 Fortress Maximus. Fort Max is that legendary toy perched on many collector's grail lists - the biggest Transformer ever made, and with a secondary market pricetag to match. These scans chart the progression of Maximus through the design process, from the original concepts, to wooden prototypes, to the final prototypes. It's an excellent example of the creative process every Transformer goes through, doubly interesting for showing how that process worked in 1987, and even more interesting because this isn't any Transformer's creative process, but the biggest one ever made. So check them out and enjoy.

Let's dive in to the Allspark's scans from Generations 2011 Volume 2 now with a look at some of the many prototype items that are on show in the book - one of which is an unmade Generation 1 Wheelie. Much larger than what was actually released, this take on Wheelie also had more moving parts and the final look was closer to the animation model. Plus this early version looks to have shoulders, elbows, hips and knees as articulation points - practically unheard of at the time!

The Allspark have shared a huge amount of scans from the recent Transformers Generations 2010 Volume 2 with the fandom, and we'll be highlighting the best of those scans in this next series of frontpage posts. We'll kick off with this little item from the two page spread dealing with Masterpiece Convoy Version 2.0 - a little box out showing what appears to be a Masterpiece version of Huffer.
Unfortunately, it's not a future Masterpiece release, at least not yet. According to several members of our boards who have been able to translate the caption accompanying the image, it is purely the designer's concept - his dream project if he were allowed to make any Transformer he wants, if you will. In other words, it's a cool look at a designer's dream project, but not a look at a future Masterpiece. |

Hasbro has shared some news from the Washington Post via their Hasbronews twitter account.
The Hall of Fame, based in Rochester, N.Y., announced the 12 finalists Tuesday. The group also includes Hasbro’s Transformers, Star Wars action figures, Jenga, and the Simon electronic flash game. A Hasbro subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast, makes Dungeons & Dragons, a seventh finalist. Also in the running are the dollhouse, the pogo stick, puppets, radio-controlled vehicles, and Mattel’s Hot Wheels. Two will be selected for induction in November. Forty-six toys have earned a place in the Hall of Fame. Among them are Crayola crayons, Silly Putty, and Hasbro’s Mr. Potato Head and the Easy-Bake Oven. Toys are chosen for induction based on several criteria, including “icon status,” longevity and innovation. John Frascotti, chief marketing officer for Hasbro, said the company was “thrilled” to have so many finalists recognized as “childhood touchstones.” |

2005 Board member Autobot78 has shared with us some in hand images of the upcoming X-Transbots Wheelie Figure. The pictures show off this unlicensed figure with Masterpiece Grimlock and Generation 1 Wheelie. Previously, this figure was speculated to be about the size of a scout figure. But from the pictures provided we can now see clearly that he's almost the size of a deluxe class figure.
Take a look at the images and share your thoughts on this figure after the jump! |

The official Transformers the Ride blog has updated with an official photo of the pre-show area. The pre-show area is based on the Allspark Vault at NEST HQ, as seen (and infiltrated by Reedman) in Revenge of the Fallen. I am sure you will agree that this does an excellent job of setting the scene for the ride! This relates to the Universal Studios Singapore version of the attraction - but chances are the LA version will also feature a similar setup.

The Transformers Collectors Club has released a page of sketches for the 2012 Collector's Club magazine comic by artist Matt Frank. The sketches give a taste of what is to come in "Flash Forward", a story set in the present day of the Wings of Honor universe. As well as club exclusive toy characters Runamuck and Runabout, the sketches show Clench and Cindersaur from Generation 2 Redux, and Cliffjumper - not Classics Cliffjumper either, but a Casey Kassem Sunbow inspired Cliffjumper for the new timeline. Read on and check out the sketches, and head on over to the Transformers Collectors Club to find out more.

In iGear's quest to make damn near every Seeker imaginable seen in the Transformers G1 cartoon(and/or comics), 2 new entries have been revealed:The images shown are not final, and the paint schemes shown so far aren't too far off from the Walmart exclusives they are based on(Starscream & Skywarp respectively). Destroyer(currently) does use a light grey in lieu of silver, but how much more will the paint schemes change by final release?

A hole is punched through to the core of Cybertron itself-but what for? Where's Galvatron?! And why is Megatron, deep in the Autobot base and stuck in his cell, laughing? It all spells one thing-TROUBLE with a capital "Crush the Heroes!" CHAOS part 2, in which things go from bad, to holy-hell-how-are-we-gonna-get-out-of-this-alive!!! |

TFW2005 will be holding it's first ever official "Member Meet Up" on October 8th, 2011 (that isn't attached to a Botcon, that is
![]() There will be door prizes given away throughout the night as well, in both Transformers and G.I. Joe flavors. Speaking of Joe, this isn't just for TFW2005, but the whole 2005 family, so HissTank and Toyark regulars will be in attendance too. Also running during the party, for those that want to float around while drinking, will be the premiere screening of a new G.I. Joe fan film, "Operation Retrieval". It will be on continuous loop all night in an area where you can hear it. You can see a trailer for it after the break. So, if you are in the New York, New Jersey, Philly areas, try and come down the night before NJCC and hang out with the TFW2005 crew. It would be great to put faces to all those names! If it works out, we'll do more! New Jersey Collectors Con takes place the next day, Sunday October 9th, 2011, in Cherry Hill New Jersey. Check the website for details. See you all there! |

The end is coming! The end of the beginning, that is. Zap2it have updated their schedule with US airdates for the final two episodes of Transformers Prime. One Shall Rise Part 2 airs on 10/8/11 with One Shall Rise Part 3 - the season 1 finale - airing on 10/16/11 (that might be a typo as Transformers Prime usually airs on a Saturday on the Hub, and 10/16 is a Sunday - so it might be 10/15/11)
The air dates for upcoming episodes is as follows: Stronger, Faster - 9/17/11 One Shall Fall - 9/24/11 One Shall Rise Part 1 - 10/1/11 One Shall Rise Part 2 - 10/8/11 One Shall Rise Part 3 - 10/16/11 Be sure to tune in to The Hub this weekend for Stronger, Faster, the next exciting episode! |
