New images have been released of the upcoming Japanese versions of the Transformers Prime mainline toys, including the (for now) Japan only Skywarp. A recolored version of the First Edition Starscream, Skywarp also appears to come with new accessories.

Also shown in the new images are Japan's gimmick for the new line - unlike the US series emphasis on MechTech on the bigger toys and standard accessories on the Deluxes, Japan's releases all feature Arms Microns, small partner figures that transform into the weapons of the main characters - so Ratchet has a laser scalpel Arms Micron, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper have partners that becomes their arm cannons, etc.

This is a real departure - it is the first time a Japanese mainline has featured this extent of different toolings for many years.

Image of Skywarp originally from Kapow Toys. Transformers Prime Japan toys can also be preordered at our sponsors TFSource, Big Bad Toy Store and Hobby Link Japan

An email has just gone out minutes ago to customers who have ordered the Transformers Japanese Collection DVD set from the Shout Factory website. This fix is in regards to subtitling errors in a few episodes in the set (though no specific errors were cited). The replacement discs will be sent out automatically to those who have purchased from Shout Factory, no special requests need to be made. The entire message from Shout Factory is as follows:

A few of you have written in to us about errors in the subtitling on a couple episodes in your Transformers Japanese Collection set. We are moving quickly to fix those errors and manufacture two replacement discs for your set and will ship them to you in about two weeks. They will ship automatically to anyone who has purchased the set from ShoutFactory -- you do not have to make any special requests or respond to this email. In the event you’re planning future purchases for friends or recommending the title, please know that our entire inventory in the warehouse and all future runs are also being corrected simultaneously.

So those that have not yet purchased need not fret, the warehouse inventory will be updated accordingly. Those of you who already have the set in your possession let us know what subtitling fixes are needed in our forums! Also make sure to let us know when your replacement discs arrive!

Japan's Winter Wonder Festival 2012 is just around the corner, and that means some interesting, limited and "event-licensed" garage kit items. From A-1 this Winter Wonderfest is a nano-scale Cybertron Mode Bumblebee as seen in the first ever Transformers cartoon, More than Meets the Eye Part 1. It's a fully colored resin kit, priced at 5'000 yen and is a very limited run only licensed for sale at the event itself. Once it is fully assembled, the kit is fully transformable between UFO car and robot modes.

Original report and more images can be seen on Japanese site Ameblo.

Here’s a little gem for all the Michael Bay Transformers Live Action Movie Lovers.

Nelson the site admin of Official Michael Bay Website is sharing with us the Reel sent to the Oscars for the consideration of the judging panel. It’s a 10 minute clip containing the best VFX Scenes of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Nelson had this to say…

"This is the Visual Effects Reel that is sent to the Academy members for their consideration of Best Visual Effects."

We at TFW2005 wish Transformers 3, all the very best at the 84th annual Academy Awards on February 26th, 2012.
