It saddens us to report the passing of Takeshi Aono, the voice of Transformers Victory's Deathsaurus. Mr Aono passed away at the age of 76 on Monday due to complications following a stroke. In addition to providing the voice of Deathsaurus, Mr Aono also voiced Rihaku in Fist of the North Star, and Kami-Sama and King Piccolo in Dragon Ball.

Reports are reaching us from online retailers (and Facebook group Planet Iacon) of two future releases in the Takara-Tomy Arms Micron range of Transformers Prime. Arriving in August are:
AM-17 Autobot Swoop AM-18 Airachnid Both are said to come with Arms Microns. Airachnid is potentially the same toy we have seen previously - she is described as a Deluxe class - while Autobot Swoop is a complete left-field reveal and a Voyager class. Speculation abound as to what this one actually is - hopefully we can update you soon with further information. No word yet either as to what the July releases are, other than there will be two of them, and they will be numbered AM-15 and AM-16. |

Auto Assembly has released some bad news relating to their planned exclusive for this year's show. Auto Assembly 2012 was to have featured an IDW comic with an exclusive cover, one that would have been particularly poignant for UK fans. The comic would have been Generation 1 #81, with a dual number on the front of the comic so it would also have been number issue #333 - the original Marvel UK run finished with #332, so this would have been a fantastic homage to the UK comics run.
Sadly it was not to be, as for as yet unexplained reasons the issue was vetoed by Hasbro US as the master license holder. Alongside the Auto Assembly team's vote of thanks to their committee member Martin Fisher and IDW's editor John Barber, who worked hard to try to make this dream issue a reality, I would also like to add TFW2005's vote of thanks to their hard work, as well as my own personal thanks as a fan who grew up on the Marvel UK comics. All is not lost, however. Auto Assembly promised attendees a comic in their goodie bags this year and attendees will have a comic! Attendees will be receiving a completely new comic, with cover art by Jeff Anderson and an exclusive six page script by Kris Carter. The ultimate ambition is to give attendees an issue which includes at least three different comic stories, created by collaborations between professional comic creative talent and fans alike. But that's not all! To make up for the fact that Auto Assembly cannot offer the exclusive comic this year, they will instead be upping the print run on the Auto Assembly 2012 exclusive litho - so that every attendee who would have received the comic will instead receive the litho, free of charge. How is that for looking after the fans after a disappointing turn of events? Auto Assembly 2012, the UK's largest Transformers convention, takes place over the weekend of 3rd-5th August 2012 at the Hilton Metropole hotel in Birmingham UK. To find out more and pre-register to attend today, head on over to the Auto Assembly homepage. |

Hopefully, this is a good indication that it won't be long before we see some reviews of these two characters and how they stack up against their First Edition Counterparts. Also, hopefully this means a US release isn't far behind.

Auto Assembly have sent out an important update for all who have yet to book their accommodation for the convention weekend - the initial block of rooms at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole has now sold out! Never fear though, because Simon and the team are currently negotiating to add an additional block of rooms at the convention rate of £50 a room (£60 for a double room).
A reminder is also given if you have not pre-registered for this year's show yet that you might wish to do so soon, for two very good reasons - firstly pre-registered guests will get information on how to book their rooms first, and second tickets are going fast with a strong chance of this year being the first time ever that Auto Assembly not only breaks attendance records but also sells out! Read the full update and pre-register your place today at the Auto Assembly homepage. Auto Assembly 2012 is taking place over the weekend of 3-5 August 2012 at the Hilton Metropole hotel in Birmingham UK. I look forward to seeing lots of you there! |
