TFW2005 member Masabon was on-site for this year's Tokyo Toy Show, and thanks to him, we have our first in-hand photos of the exclusive United Black Optimus Prime. You can view all of his photos after the jump, or in the discussion thread.
Masabon was also kind enough to provide a translation of his bio. Despite the Decepticon symbol, he's actually the Heroic Autobot leader undercover. Check it out! |

One of this fan's personal favorite things about the Transformers live-action movie series is the stirring score that accompanies the action. Whether it is the epic "Arrival to Earth" or Shockwave's theme, the score for the three movies has never failed to set an appropriately epic musical backdrop to the gigantic robot-on-robot combat on the big screen. With composer Steve Jablonsky having masterfully scored three Transformers movies now, it should come as little surprise that he has recently updated his official website to include "Transformers 4" under his list of current and upcoming projects.
We don't know much about Transformers 4 yet, but as we learn more we'll be updating with the latest right here. But now we know one more thing - Transformers 4 will carry on the series tradition of epic orchestral scores. |

Autobase Aichi aka Snakas has shared a few more images from the Tokyo Toy Show, this time spotlighting the second wave of Prime Arms Micron Gashapon / Capsule toys. This second assortment adds Arms Micron versions of Bulkhead, Arcee and Megatron into the mix along with a turtle type Micron. The Bulkhead one appears to turn into that big shield that Optimus Prime is shown wielding, while Arcee seems to become an arm mounted blade. The alternate forms of Megatron and the turtle are not shown in the display case.

We have great pleasure in sharing with you another new Transformers toy gallery this evening! With many thanks to the hard-working TFW content staff member SyndeyY, we have a gallery of the hot new Transformers Prime Weaponizer Optimus Prime to share with you. This toy (and the Bumblebee in the same series) bring back a "larger than Voyager, smaller than Leader" scale of toy not seen since the Ultras were phased out. It's a good solid Optimus Prime with a fair bit of pressence to it, and the weapons which can be deployed in either mode are a lot of fun according to SydneyY!
They say that a picture speaks a thousand words though so head on over and check out our gallery! Transformers Prime Weaponizer Optimus Prime Gallery |

Takara-Tomy has updated their Transformers Prime Toys website with high-resolution images of their June releases. Up now on the website are robot, alternate mode and Arms Micron pictures of AM-07 Starscream, AM-12 Breakdown, AM-13 Medic Knock Out and AM-14 Decepticon Vehicon. All four are due out at the end of this month, which will also mark the first time that Breakdown has been available outside of the Cyberverse scale - and as demonstrated by pictures of the cases at the Tokyo Toy Show, he makes a great companion piece to Knock Out.

Earlier this year we reported on the Million Hero Generations Artfire. We currently do not have any information on the differences between the two Artfires beyond their estimated retail prices. Stay tuned for more details! |

By way of online store Japanworld.it we have our first look at the Takara-Tomy AM-21 Arms Master Optimus Prime. It is as speculated a Takara-Tomy release of Weaponizer Optimus Prime, with some modifications to the mold and an interesting Arms Micron set which transform and combine with each other and with Optimus Prime to form a large, Matrix-styled chest armor, or an absolutely gigantic sword. Click on the thumbnail at left to check out the image.

Here's some good news for Transformers Prime cartoon fans. We might all be eagerly awaiting those new episodes (they really left us hanging with that cliffhanger in Toxicity!) but the show continues to impress in a different way - with a second year of wins at the Daytime Emmy awards. Transformers Prime took two Daytime Emmys this year - the Emmy for outstanding special class animated program which went to the whole crew; and the Emmy for outstanding individual achievement in animation for Supervising Color Designer Christophe Vancher. That's two years of wins for Transformers Prime now - can they make it three?
Congratulations to Christophe and the whole crew at the Hub - the awards are well deserved. |

Here's a real leftfield sighting from 2005 Boards member Dilbertron. Among the items unreleased at the sudden end of the Dark of the Moon toyline last year were the final two releases in the Robo Fighters subline. Robo Fighters Wave 3 consisted of two redecos, Nightwatch Optimus Prime and Elite Guard Bumblebee. They've never been sighted at US retail - until today, when Dilbertron sighted both at the Greenwood, Indiana Toys R Us.
A case of some random stock in the back room finally making its way into the store months on, perhaps? You be the judge - the question now though, is if we are only seeing these nearly nine months after their original projected release date, what else could be lurking in the depths of the stockroom? |

Our friends and sponsors Big Bad Toy Store have updated with new preorders for the upcoming releases from Takara-Tomy's Transformers Prime line. There's a few new pictures giving us our first looks at some of the upcoming releases plus confirmation that Skyquake will be getting a Cyberverse class toy in the Japanese EZ-Collection - so we can at least unite Dreadwing and his Spark-brother in our collections with the pocket sized toys!
The upcoming releases are as follows: Main line - AM-22 Dreadwing - comes with a fish inspired Arms Micron that resembles Beast Wars Depth Charge's rifle. AM-23 Wheeljack - comes with an Arms Micron who becomes a sword, also has additional ports added to the front of his car mode. AM-24 Breakdown Cyrus (aka Breakdown Silas) - only a CAD drawing right now, but the head is the "eyepatch" Breakdown head. Comes with a praying mantis Arms Micron that becomes a double-bladed gauntlet. AM-25 Nemesis Prime - only shown in silhouette, this should be the black version of AM-01 / RiD Voyager Optimus Prime shown at the Tokyo Toy Show over the weekend. AM-26 Smokescreen - again only a silhouette, this could potentially be a Knock Out redeco / remold. AM-27 Ultra Magnus - this would be the Voyager Class Ultra Magnus on show at the Tokyo Toy Show over the weekend. AM-28 Riperamu (Leo Prime?) - by process of elimination, we're guessing this one would be Leo Prime / Thundertron, the Voyager Class liger / peg legged pirate robot. AM-29 Shockwave - Arms Micron version of Fall of Cybertron Shockwave. Arms Micron is not shown - Bumblebee's B.2. is used as a placeholder. EZ Collection - EZ-17 Optimus Maximus EZ-18 Skyquake - shown only in silhouette, but it'll probably be a straight-up redeco of Dreadwing, with red weapons. EZ-SP1 Autobot Team Set - giftset of Cyberverse series Optimus Prime, Bulkhead, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet and Wheeljack EZ-SP2 Decepticon Team Set - giftset of Cyberverse Megatron, Starscream, Knock Out and Vehicon. No indication is given as to if the gift set versions will be altered from the initial releases. Also up for preorder on BBTS right now are the Transformers Cap Bots, Captimus Prime and Capticon, and the mysterious United UN-32 Artfire. |

It's time for another TFW site gallery update! This past weekend in Japan was the Tokyo Toy Show 2012, which had two exclusive Transformers toys - one of which was a black version of Classics Optimus Prime. Based on an unreleased Wonderfest design that was originally conceived for the Henkei line, United Black Optimus Prime depicts the heroic Optimus Prime taking up a Decepticon persona to infiltrate the enemy, but he might have gone too far an unleashed his repressed dark side in the process:
A new Decepticon ground troop had falsely claimed themselves to be Autobots and were causing havoc in many parts of Earth. To stop the disturbances, Optimus Prime used the enemy's tactic himself and planned to infiltrate the Decepticons camp. He repainted his body in jet-black and applied Decepticon insignia on his shoulders to make himself "Black Optimus Prime". He destroyed everything in his path as if his suppressed inner desires were unleashed. What actually happened to him...? Check out the full gallery of this new version of Optimus Prime to see plenty of pictures of both robot and alternate mode, along with comparisons with the 2008 San Diego Comic Con exclusive Nemesis Prime, another convention exclusive "evil Optimus Prime" from this same mold. Give a big thanks to SydneyY for the gallery! Transformers United Black Optimus Prime Gallery (Tokyo Toy Show 2012 Exclusive) |
