Revealed here are some of the details behind the crossover from its genesis to the direction of the individual books. The concept came about for two reasons, one being that IDW Editor-in-Chief wanted to do something different from "Infestation 3" and the other being because Mars Attacks is such an insane and fun crossover. The chapters of the crossover take place chronologically (so Mars Attacks Popeye is set in the 1930s, Mars Attacks KISS in the 1970s etc).

As far as the Transformers one-shot in this crossover is concerned, it is set to take place "in the near future". Returning to write the one-shot is the writer of the All Hail Megatron maxi-series Shane McCarthy. Matt Frank will be providing the pencils.
