Did you rush out to your local comic shop today to pick up the newest spotlight comic from IDW? Or, did you download it from Comixology? If so, the adventure doesn't have to end after the last page. The Transformers Facebook page has uploaded their most recent commentary with writer John Barber. An interesting tidbit from this commentary; it's mentioned that James Roberts (MTMTE) wrote at least three spotlights and John Barber (RID) wrote three as well. So, we have more incoming for the foreseeable future.
Check out the commentary at the link above and then head over to the 2005 Boards to discuss. |

Following up on some Bot Shots news the other day, another new five pack has popped up on taobao. This time it is the Decepticon Fire Assault Team. The five pack features Megatron, Barricade, Starscream, Shockwave and Barricade in bright red and orange fire themed colors. This team is obviously a rival to the recently released Autobot Polar Assault Team.

Actor Mark Wahlberg appeared on Jay Leno's The Tonight Show and said few things about Transformers 4.
“We’re doing a complete reboot of the Transformers. I did a movie with Michael Bay called Pain and Gain, which comes out in April. And we had an amazing time together and really hit it off, and he said ‘Hey, you want to do this other little movie I’m doing?’ Because that was a little movie, and I said ‘Yeah, I like doing little movies.' And he said Transformers. Whoa! You know what, we had such a great experience, I’m in.” This statement conflicts with what the Director; Michael Bay told us not too long ago. However, the statement may also refer that they'll be going in a fresh direction rather than a reboot as the name implies. The episode is now available online and 2005 Boards Member Albershide instructs us to skip to the 25th minute to hear what Mr. Wahlberg has to say. Click here to watch the video at fullseries.net. |

Another new toy has been revealed, courtesy of the official Transformers Facebook page. Today they have revealed Trailcutter, from the Beast Hunters Cyberverse series. As some have speculated he shares his base mold with Cyberverse Commander Ironhide - Trailcutter is pretty extensively remolded though with plow, guns, altered headlights and vehicle windshield, as well as a new head and chest.

Hot on the heels of the earlier Beast Hunters listings from Takara-Tomy, we have some listings of a Beast Hunters EZ Collection coming to Japan in April, also from Hobby Ark:
EG-01 Convoy EG-02 Bumblebee EG-03 Prowl EG-04 Smokescreen EG-05 Hound EG-06 Tank Megatron EG-07 Starscream EG-08 Airachind Once again no pictures are available. All are priced at SGD$13, implying they are all the same size class - in other words, Legion class. Of those named, you might recognize Bumblebee, Smokescreen and Airachnid from the first assortment of Beast Hunters Cyberverse - but there are other names on the list such as Prowl, Hound and Tank Megatron who are completely new to us. Don't take the list as gospel though - EG-01 takes the name "Convoy", Optimus Prime's old Japanese name which has not been used for a mainstream line in Japan since 2009. However there are hints here at some kind of new Cyberverse / Legends class toys in some shape or form - time will tell what they actually are! |

2005 boards member juise has posted official images and profile information for Transformers Beast Hunters Wave 2 Deluxe Figures. While we have seen some of the figures before, this is our 1st clear look at Beast Hunters Starscream! Images of the figure out of package are attached. Here is his profile info:
The scheming Decepticon second-in-command Starscream looks forward to the day both the Autobots and Megatron are out of his way! Autobots beware, because this Starscream figure is just the Decepticon to take any of them on! He’s a super-sneaky operator who wants all the power for himself, and his clenching Thunder Talon gives him the edge he needs in battle! When he needs to do recon or make a speedy escape, convert him to fighter jet mode. Keep converting him back and forth so his Autobot enemies can’t keep up! [PRODUCT FEATURES] • Powerful Starscream robot-to-vehicle warrior figure! • Converts from robot to fighter jet mode and back! • Clenching Thunder Talon! Read on to see new images of Starscream, and the rest of the wave 2 deluxe descriptions! |

With Transformers Prime Beast Hunters taking the reins of the main Transformers line at retail, let us take a look at the last of the Voyager class toys - one who is perhaps doomed to suffer from what I'd like to call "end of line scarcity syndrome". I am talking about Transformers Prime Voyager Skyquake.
Those following the show will know a bit about Skyquake - he was a one-episode character who died in the same story that introduced him, and his death set up the character arc for his twin Dreadwing. Dreadwing was released in the third assortment of Voyager class toys and like on the show Skyquake recolors the mold wholesale, swapping Dreadwing's navy blue and yellow-gold for a more militaristic scheme of olive green and silver, with some red highlights. He of course gets the remolded gun, the weapon redesigned to look more like Skyquake's gatling gun weapon as opposed to Dreadwing's beam cannon. Being a redeco of Dreadwing with a partially remolded accessory, Skyquake shares all of Dreadwing's virtues and most of his weaknesses. The legs still lack a bit of weight making balancing a little harder than it ought to be, and the weapon can't be held slung under his arms like on the show. But the head feels a bit sturdier than the extremely rubbery head on Dreadwing, so my main issue with Dreadwing has been fixed. Overall, Skyquake is a good redeco; while it is a pity he is an end of line release, as a one episode character, it does make sense to get the rest of the characters out there first. Check out our full gallery by opening the link below: Transformers Prime Voyager Skyquake Gallery |

Mark Wahlberg is going through press interviews to promote his new movie; Broken City. Yesterday, we brought you news from The Tonight Show and today it’s from the Examiner.
According to what Mr. Wahlberg has said, the Principal Photography for Transformers 4 may go from 2013 May to September. Examiner: Will you have to put more weight on for “Transformers 4”? Wahlberg: Well I took a month off – I just started working out, I’m in my 4th week now – hopefully we’ll do “Avon Man” before “Transformers,” which is this comedy we have at Fox that we’ve been developing; it’s kind of like my first romantic comedy. Examiner: Can you tell us anything about “Transformers 4” or “Ted 2”? Wahlberg: I could tell you that we’re doing “Transformers” starting at the end of May, and then “Ted” in September. You know I can’t give you too many story points or Michael will not be happy. But I can tell you that I’m very excited, obviously I had a great working relationship with Michael on “Pain & Gain”. If this is true, TF4 may have a short shooting schedule compared to DOTM. |

Site sponsors Robot Kingdom have put up another new Bot Shots listing, this time for a new launcher assortment. The first 2013 assortment of Bot Shots Launchers features Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, both are said to be Generation 1 themed. The Optimus Prime is a new mold, probably of the "Spin Shot" sub group judging by the way his arms are done. The Launchers are simplified compared to the 2012 assortment ones, but there seem to be more accessories with this set, as the picture suggests there will be little bowling pins or other accessories to launch your Bot Shots at included in the packaging.
