Third party group Maketoys has updated their website with a teaser for what appears to be an accessory set for the recently released Year of the Snake Omega Supreme. Dubbed the Armageddon Upgrade Kit, the set includes several attachments, including Omega's iconic "wings". The set then unfolds into a familiar base and launch platform.
This is the first in Maketoy's Mega City bot series, but we have no information whether this line will strictly include accessories, or complete city-sized characters. Additionally, Maketoy's Mobine Paladin/Chaos and the Mobine Missile Launcher armors have been delayed to March due to design revisions and improvements. Staff Note: This is a 3rd party item not produced or endorsed by Hasbro or Takara Tomy. |

Renderform has officially announced their next two releases, which were teased by Captured Prey last summer. The two new releases are the Hawk Saber for Botcon 2012 Metalhawk and the Giga Blaster for Botcon 2012 Gigatron. Both weapons are based on accessories from the Generation 1 toys. The regular versions are available in a two pack through the Renderform website and also through our sponsors Captured Prey and Big Bad Toy Store - singles of both weapons (with a different metallic tint in the Giga Blaster's case) are also available, along with a purple version of the Hawk Saber exclusively available through Captured Prey.

Images of a Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus testshot have recently turned up on Weibo. We have mirrored those images here. Interestingly enough, this take on Magnus incorporates a mix of parts from Powerizer Optimus Prime with the jetpack from Beast Hunters Voyager Optimus Prime. The result? A bulky Magnus with an imposing silhouette!

Next Wednesday we will be getting a new spotlight issue from IDW Publishing. This time around, it's the big bad himself, MEGATRON. Artist and writer, Nick Roche, has tweeted a pair of images for fans of his to enjoy while we wait for this highly anticipated issue. This is Nick's first writing gig on Transformers since Last Stand of The Wreckers and his first solo writing gig since All Hail Megatron #15. Remember that issue? Where we all realized how much of a jerk Prowl is?
Nick Roche will also be holding a signing of the new issue (and sketching) on February 6th at Forbidden Planet and a Dublin City Comics and Collectibles. More info on those signings are available at Nick's blog - Nick Roche is a Bad Man. Make sure to pick up the issue next Wednesday, February 6th at your local comic shop or through Comixology. |

The first of the Botcon 2013 exclusive releases has been revealed - Hoist, a remolded version of Generations Kup with a new head. Hoist is a homage to the black pickup truck also named Hoist from the original Machine Wars line. He is, as some expected, the first "classics styled" update of the toys in the Machine Wars line.
Hoist is featured on the front of the next Transformers Collectors Club magazine - members of the TFCC of course get a discount on Botcon attendance, click here to find out more. Also click here to find out more about Machine Wars in our Resources section! |

Last year, IDW Publishing relaunched the Transformers comics as we know them. Writer Mike Costa ended his run on the Transformers Ongoing comic and the Transformers comics were relaunched with two new titles; More Than Meets The Eye and Robots In Disguise. Two books, that over the last year, have revolutionized Transformers comics. This newsie will gushingly recommend, talk about and force these books down the the throats of Transformers fans as well as comic book bans. MultiversityComics has posted an extensive in depth interview with both writers of these books, John Barber (RID) and James Roberts (MTMTE). In this interview the writers discuss everything from how Hasbro has been a fantastic supporter of the books (sometimes asking the writers to push the envelope even further than they have), to how they became involved with the Transformers books, to their writing techniques. They even discuss what we have in store coming up! There is so much more that we can't even fit in this space, so please take the time to read this. If you haven't read either of these titles yet, seriously, what are you waiting for? You're missing out in the worst possible way.
Additionally, the second cover for More Than Meets The Eye #13 is revealed in this interview. The book is due in stores next week, February 6th. The most exciting part of this cover? It features Holomatter (aka hologram) avatars of Skids, Rung, Swerve, and Rewind. Ultra Magnus is also featured on the cover, using Verity Carlo as his avatar! You can read the entire article at the link above. Check out the new cover and discuss everything by clicking the title bar. |

Site sponsor Captured Prey, has made preorders for the next Fansproject Causality figure, "Car Crash", available to the public. This figure will be the first release from Fansproject from their Combat Racing Team (aka G1 Stunticons). Additionally, an extensive gallery has gone up over at 78dm.net earlier today and we get to see this figure from just about every angle in both modes. Also shown in these pics are excellent demonstrations of the figures poseability and comparison pics with several other official and unoffical toys. You can also take a look at the figure in package including the bio, which reveals the name of CA-10 - T-Bone!
We've mirrored a selection of the new pictures here or you can check out the gallery at the link above. You can get your preorders locked in below at Captured Prey! Watch this space as our other site sponsors make their preorders available. Currently, Car Crash is available for $59.99 and is expected to be in stock by the middle of the month. Japanese online retailer Red Mercury has posted some interesting pre-order pages. In addition to a page for the previously reported Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion Soundwave, there are listings for a Legion Prowl and a Legion Hun Grrr. The listings specify they are imports i.e. not more Japanese releases, which suggests they are going to be released in the US.
Could these three toys be making up wave 2 of the Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion, and if so, what will they look like? We might find out very soon at the US Toy Fair. One thing is for sure - with Twinstrike in wave 1 homaging Sinnertwin and now Hun Grrr, the Generation 1 Terrorcons have never known so much love! |

Via a new image posted by our sponsors TFSource we have our first look at the remaining two Stunticons from FansProject. CA-11 is Down Force, their take on Drag Strip, and CA-12 is Last Chance, their take on Dead End. The shot shows all four robots together as a group.
We're still waiting on our first peek at Motormaster and the combined giant Menasor, but this may tide you over in the mean time. Furthermore the second member of the group, the not-Wildrider T-Bone, has gone up for preorder: Big Bad Toy Store TFSource |

Meteor Operation on Facebook has shared in-hand pictures of the Unique Toys War Hawk, aka the second third-party not-Divebomb. Unique Toy's version as evidenced in these images takes the original Generation 1 toy design and upgrades it with modern standards of articulation, for all the good or ill that may come with hanging on to that classic style. From these images there is also a size comparison with Classics Rodimus, indicating that the War Hawk is around the same size as your average Deluxe class toy - making this one a choice for those who like all their robots around a similar height.
A selection of the best images are attached to this story - check out the link above for the full gallery. |

Talking to Forbes, Director Michael Bay confirms that Transformers 4 is not a reboot.
Will that change the way you do anything on Transformers 4? We’re going to start off smaller. There’s a brand new cast. To freshen the franchise we’ve redesigned everything from top to bottom. The history of the first three movies is still there, we start four years later and there’s a reason why we’re meeting a new cast. Mark is really excited about it and it’s a great redesign. I said that 3 [which grossed $1.1 billion] was going to be my last one. Paramount was letting me do Pain & Gain and the Transformers ride was opening at Universal and it was bittersweet to think of passing it off. I wanted to set it up on a really sure footing and to bring someone else in on that, it would have been overwhelming. So is 4 a reboot? No, that’s wrong. We keep the Transformers the way they were, it’s just four years later. There’s a reason the Transformers are redesigned. We’re trying to broaden the franchise and give it more places to go. Mr. Bay also confirms what the winner of Doritos Superbowl Commercial Contest will do at the set of TF4: What will the winner actually get to do on the Transformers 4 set? Replace me as director. No, we’ll see who the person is and depending on what he is interested in being, a producer or a director, we’ll try to tailor the job. It’s all hard work with you’re working on a movie. Visit Forbes for the full article. |

One of the mysteries that the most-dedicated of Transformers fans such as Monzo have been trying to solve for some time was a mysterious mini-comic issued in Europe during the Generation 1 era of Transformers toys. This mini-comic, published by Milton-Bradley who handled some of the toy distribution in the early days, featured Jetfire as the leader of the Autobots!
After an appeal for information by the TFWiki, a fan in Spain ("Un tal Iván" - @Ivanspeedy on Twitter) sent a copy of the comic to the TFWiki Twitter account, and now thanks to Spark (for translating) and ItsWalky (for re-lettering) the comic is available for fans worldwide to enjoy. It's another piece of Transformers history preserved friends - a bizarre retelling of events from Marvel's Transformers #1 and #4 featuring not only Jetfire filling in for Optimus Prime but Soundwave taking the role of Shockwave and fighting the four Dinobots (Swoop is absent, possibly because his toy was not readily available in Europe, even though the comic features Roadbuster and Whirl alongside a Diaclone colors Blitzwing) This comic, a store promo giveaway, also featured an early toy catalog which features some early toys such as the Deluxe Insecticons in their Beetras colors with Ransack in a different deco to any previously seen, and an appearance by the so-called "bearded Warpath" minibot. All in all, it's a fun and obscure bit of Transformers history that I personally am very delighted can now be shared with the fandom at large. Read on and check it out, and a big thanks to all involved for making it available. |
