If like me you recently got Masterpiece Soundwave, you might be interested in this story. Masterpiece Soundwave features an attachment for his chest which lets you put slides in it to recreate the times he used his chest window as a monitor to display information for the Decepticons. On the released version of the toy, these screens are featured on the manual, meaning you have to cut up the back page of the instruction booklet to get this function.

Well, put down those scissors, because thanks to 2005 Boards Podcast Host Vangelus, we have something that will be useful to you. Vangelus has made a little edit to the papercraft Energon cubes that Takara-Tomy posted on their site to add the display screens to the printout. Click here to download it and check it out, and save yourself cutting up your instructions booklet!

Hit the discuss button below to jump to the thread for more information and tips on this little DIY bonus to MP-13.

Something exclusive and Japanese for our next Transformers Toy Gallery update. Transformers Prime in Japan has had a few cool store exclusive releases, and among those is the Dark Guard Optimus Prime, a black and gold redeco of the First Edition Voyager Optimus Prime toy. The First Edition Voyager Optimus Prime is one of the best Transformers toys to be designed in the Voyager class, and a black redeco looks sharp on just about any toy - so what we have here is a nice redeco of a great toy. We've also got to give it props for not retreading the often-used to the point of overuse black, gray and teal "Scourge / Black Convoy" deco and instead doing something new.

Check out our gallery, graciously brought to us by 2005 Photo Staff member SydneyY, by opening the link below:

Transformers Live Action Movie Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently spoke with MTV regarding Transformers 4 and the potential New Trilogy.

Talking about Transformers 4, the producer said "There's a lot of new elements. I wouldn't say we've completely changed this world, and yet it's completely different. There are new characters, new situations. I don't think we revisit a single location. Michael really has a great way of approaching this thing." He also said "The intention is this is new world, with new characters, with Mark Wahlberg leading us. It's a different movie, but a lot of the things that you love about the other ones are joining the ride."

Mr. di Bonaventura also mentioned that he would like to see Director Michael Bay sticking around for the next two Transformers Movies as well; hinting a potential New Trilogy with Transformers 5 and Transformers 6:

"I can't speak for Michael. I hope he would [direct the next two]. It would be great, but it's certainly something in our design of this," he said. "It's going to be an ongoing story, so the possibility, again, as long as the audience shows up for us, there's a lot of story still to be told."

You can read the original article at MTV and enjoy a video of the interview as well.

It's been an awful long time coming - and there's been more than a few upsets along the way - but at long last, Masterpiece Optimus Prime, the Hasbro release of Takara-Tomy's MP-10 Convoy Version 2, is available in the UK at Toys R Us. 2005 Boards member Brum Bot picked up a pre-sale at the Solihull Toys R Us. The UK price, as expected, runs to £99.99 (about $156 USD, €115). According to information from our UK based members, most TRUs in the UK are expecting to have the physical stock in store by the weekend - let's hope it actually happens!

Happy hunting my UK brethren!

TransformersAsia has posted an interview with Hasbro Asia Regional Customer Strategy & Marketing Director David Chua. The interview explains the process for Asian Region Exclusives and hints "something big" is heading towards Asian Region Transformers Fans.

Below are some of the highlights:

Hi David , for the past several years, we have seen some spectacular Transformers items called " Asia Exclusive " , can you tell us what is this project all about? , and how did you come up with the plan ?
Our goal is fulfilling the dream of Transformers fans. Transformers fans are very professional and their taste is sophisticated. We always challenge ourselves to make the ultimate toys which they would want to own and proudly display. Our ideas always come from the feedback of fans, we would discuss and work closely with our partner at Takara Tomy to work out the plan.

How do you select on which series or character to be including in the project?
There is no exact formula on this topic. We would consider the popularity of series/character, also the room for product improvement.

Last but not least, can you share with us what is currently in planning, and what are we expecting to see?
We are not going to give it away for now, but we promise something big would happen in the near future. So stay tuned!

We do hope that none of you have forgotten about Transformers Universe. Development for this upcoming MOBA Game (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) is happening quietly and some of our 2005 Boards members may even be eligible for Beta Testing.

Breaking the silence, the Music Composer for Transformers Universe; James Hannigan has told Forbes some tidbits about what he did and what the game is like:

More importantly, are you a Transformers fan, at all?
Giant, battling transforming alien robots… what’s not to like? Most recently, I watched the original animated movie again and caught ‘Robots in Disguise’ along with season one of ‘Prime’. Very enjoyable and interesting to see how things have evolved over the years in the world of Transformers.

How would you describe the sound of Transformers Universe?
Some of the music is not a million miles away from the stylistic framework established for Transformers in general, but there’s also a move towards being a little harsher and grittier at times. Steve Lord, the Audio Director on Transformers Universe, wanted some tracks to have a grinding, almost mechanistic and robotic feel to them. But there’s quite a bit of orchestral music in there, too. We recorded a 72-piece orchestra for some of the early music going into the game, and there’ll be more orchestral production in the near future as composing and recording for Transformers Universe is an ongoing process. One of the interesting and refreshing things about this game is how episodic it is with new content getting planned for it all the time.

If you had to pick one track to represent the soundtrack, which would it be and why?
It’s difficult to single out any one track but I’d say that collectively the various themes will define the sound and set the tone for the game. I particularly like the Autobot Theme, which tries to capture an air of nobility and heroism, coupled with awesome firepower!

James Hannigan is an award-winning British film, television and video game composer who has composed music for various entries in the
Harry Potter,
The Lord of the Rings,
Command & Conquer and
Red Alert series' of games. You can listen to some of his work by clicking on the YouTube links above.

Reports are also coming in that the new Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Cyberverse Legion Wave 1 has made its debut at US retail. The four figure assortment features Bumblebee, Smokescreen, Airachnid and Twinstrike (aka Sinnertwin). They're popping up at Wal-Marts in Porter Ranch and San Diego, CA.

With this wave's release all the Beast Hunters toys that were revealed to us at the New York Comic Con last November have been released. What's up next? We've had a few hints here and there, but the full story will be revealed at the US Toy Fair kicking off this weekend - and we will have all the Transformers toy reveals as they happen. So keep it TFW for your US Toy Fair 2013 news.

The Transformers Collector's Club has begun to update the Botcon 2013 site with previews of the toys in this year's convention box set, and they are kicking off with a full look at the previously seen Hoist. Updated on the Botcon site now are robot and alternate mode pictures of Hoist, a retooled version of Generations Kup with a new head. Of note in the alternate mode are the yellow and red stripes running along the vehicle mode for a particularly dynamic effect and the "W&S Towing" detail at the rear of the vehicle, thought to reference the "Wilk and Son" graphic from the original Machine Wars toy, and pay homage to the original Hoist's role as a tow truck.

Check out the pictures on Botcon.com, and keep an eye on that site or the frontpage right here at TFW for more convention news!
