IGN has posted a short interview with the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen. There's some interesting response to the questions asked - Cullen refers to the new Predacon dragon villain, Predaking, as "phenomenal" - along with complements for his fellow cast members including Frank Welker and Steve Blum.
Where it gets interesting is the response to the question "Does this build toward a big finale for the Transformers story?" Peter Cullen replies 'I don’t think there’s ever going to be a big finale. I think, as all series go, it’s always a transformation – there’s a good word! – into another environment.' (He might, of course, be referring to the overall nature of the franchise and how each new series takes its own direction, and not necessarily Transformers Prime specifically) On the subject of Transformers 4, Peter Cullen does not say much - other than confirming that yes, he will be a part of it and is very much looking forward to his involvement in the production. Check out the full interview on IGN on the other side of this link. |

Some sleuthing from Snakas has uncovered a fresh image of the E-Hobby Mebion / Magnificus that was teased yesterday. As speculated, the image confirms that what was being teased was a black, Decepticon version of Reveal the Shield Perceptor (complete with alternate, toy accurate head sculpt). According to Snakas, E-Hobby is due to start preorders on this item on March 26, with the preorder period closing at 12:00PM, May 8th. The release is priced at 5,500 yen.
Snakas urges just a little caution in his report though - the image of Mebion shown here was uncovered through manipulating the URL of yesterday's teaser image - so much like the Botcon 2010 Clench as Octane redeco, it could be a red herring. However we feel that the overwhelming balance of the evidence so far points to this being the genuine article. |

Apple's iTunes has put up a brief lower-res preview of IDW's Transformers Spotlight Trailcutter. In this story titled "The Reluctant Specialist" the Autobot also known as Trailbreaker takes center stage. The preview doesn't give much away - but the artwork is more than enough reason to take a look. Check it out over on iTunes books here.

Amazon Japan has updated its listings for Masterpiece Prowl and Masterpiece Streak (aka Bluestreak / Silverstreak) with details of the exclusive accessory they will be offering. As with recent Masterpiece releases, Amazon Japan will be offering a special accessory with preorders through their site. In Prowl and Bluestreak's case, this will be a launcher, modeled after the Generation 1 toy's missile launchers. Like the originals they clip on next to the toy's head - but unlike the originals, on these new Masterpieces they can attach to the vehicle modes as well. However Amazon is only including one launcher with each preorder, so unless you're a fan of the Binaltech Smokescreen GT single launcher look, fans will need to preorder both for the completed effect.
Check out the images attached to this story - please note they are only prototype images, so might change a little before the final versions come along. |

By way of a Japanese image board we have a look at the Transformers-related pages of one of the new Japanese hobby magazines. These scans give us our first look at some of the upcoming April release Transformers including our first-ever look at Takara-Tomy's Beast Hunters, Transformers Go! The decos on Takara-Tomy's toys are a departure from the US ones - from these scans we can see that:
There is also some showcasing of the Generations Data Disks along with Masterpiece Prowl and Streak, but nothing that has not been seen previously. Read on to check out our mirror of the images. |

We recently had the opportunity to speak to writer Mairghread Scott. Mairghread is not only a scribe for episodes of the Transformers Prime TV series, but she recently co-wrote IDW Publishing's Rage Of The Dinobots mini-series and their upcoming Beast Hunters comic. Not to mention, she's the first woman to work on a Transformers comic book. Mairghread was nice enough to answer our questions about working on Transformers Prime, writing the Transformer comic books, and touches upon the villain Ser-ket.
The Beast Hunters comic will be on shelves May 22nd, 2013. Many thanks to TFW staff for help with the interview and Mairghread for taking the time out to chat with us! You can check out the full Beast Hunters comic book press release HERE. Click the title bar to read the full interview! |

IGN has posted a short yet insightful interview with Transformers Prime's executive producer and showrunner, Jeff Kline. He talks a bit about the process of bringing Prime Season 3 - Beast Hunters - to the screen including referencing once again the "rejiggering" of plots that occurred when permission to use the "beasts" was granted. He also mentions that new villain Predaking is a great addition to the show in design, character and where they take him in his character arc. All in all, promising stuff!
The most interesting part of the interview comes when IGN asks Mr Kline about the next iteration of Transformers. Jeff Kline confirms Hasbro and the Hub would like the same creative team that has worked on Transformers Prime to be involved in the new series. He also states that so far the new series is in the earliest stages of development, which he states is mostly character and conceptual work. There's the standard caveat of course "if all goes to plan", because as we know well all plans are subject to change, but this is our first news on the next Transformers cartoon series, such as it is. |

General Motor's partnership with Paramount and the Transformers franchise looks set to continue with Transformers 4. We bet most of you saw this coming a mile off - Paramount, via Bleeding Cool News, has stated that the Transformers 4 plot details that were posted earlier this week by the Michigan Film Board are "inaccurate". That's all they've said "information previously posted is inaccurate"; which doesn't necessarily debunk everything, but for now it would be wise to take the previous report with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Just a reminder to all the fans of Transformers Prime that the 3rd season premiers tonight and brings us into the world of Beast Hunters! What does this mean for the Autobots we've seen in the show so far, and will we see any new Autobots join the cast this season? What about the new menace the Autobots will have to deal with, how will they overcome the odds after the season 2 finale? Find out tonight at 730pm ET!
Also, if you're a fan of the show, but hate commercials, double check your DVR to make sure the episode is set to record. We've heard that some DVR's have set Beast Hunters as its own category and therefore tonight's episode was not set to record. I can personally attest to this, as my TiVo did not have the episode set until I created a new recording. Be sure to click the link to join in on the episode discussion. |

Prime1Studio has updated their website with pictures and information for an upcoming polystone statue they're producing of movie Megatron from Revenge of The Fallen. This extremely detailed, gigantic, and not to mention gorgeous statue will feature light up eyes, interchangeable eyes and stands at 32" tall from base to head. No release date is provided, but when it is released you're gonna have to dig deep into that wallet. The statue will run you 189,000 yen (roughly $2000.00 US).
Regardless, the sculpting on this thing is extremely impressive. Take a look at the images by clicking the title bar! |
