The fourth and to date final series of Transformers Prime Arms Micron Gashapons has been released in Japan. Arms Micron Gashapon Volume 4 redecos all twelve existing toys from the first three series in translucent blue "Matrix" versions for the Autobots and translucent purple "Terrorcon" versions for the Decepticons. This makes the figures look very sharp and lends a nice coordinated color scheme for the larger combo weapons.

Autobase Aichi on Facebook has posted an in-hand gallery of these toys, be sure to check them out!

As the GI Joe fans among us already know, this weekend is JoeCon! Hasbro as always were in attendance and, via our GI Joe sister site Hisstank, we can share a little news on the San Diego Comic Con exclusives for 2013. Please note, this applies to the GI Joe exclusives rather than Transformers ones:

SDCC can't be shown because they contracted with a national outlet for initial unveiling.

SDCC hint - Will be a bigger set, fill a void for many collectors, will have a surprising amount of figures they think the fans will be happy with. Didn't say it would be Joe/TF, but hinted it will probably carry forward.

What we can take from this is as follows:
  • The SDCC exclusives will be shown through a national outlet at some point, probably USA Today or MTV Geek in the next two months.
  • While not confirmed, we may get another GI Joe / Transformers crossover set like the pictured Starscream Skystriker.

Brian Savage is also on record as having approached Hasbro Toy Shop with a view to offering the GI Joe SDCC 2013 exclusives through the GI Joe club store - we can infer from this the possibility that the Transformers SDCC 2013 exclusives might also be a part of the same deal and potentially offered through the Transformers Club Store.

Please bear in mind though, nothing is as yet set in stone. When more news of the Transformers side of things is revealed, you can find it posted right here on TFW2005! And for GI Joe news, be sure to check out the Hisstank!

For our next gallery, we're taking a step back from the new releases and having a look back at one of the rather cool redecos released in the recent years. Takara has a rather grand tradition of offering black repaints of Transformers characters, and one very popular choice for this treatment is Hot Rod / Rodimus. Here for you tonight is something rather cool - a gallery by our own SydneyY showcasing the Masterpiece Black Rodimus Convoy, the crown jewel of Black Hot Rod Transformers!

Like most of the Black Rodimus characters, Black Rodimus Convoy is a doppleganger of Rodimus. In this version, he is the personification of all Generation 1 Rodimus' self doubt, insecurity and reluctance to lead that formed a second, dormant personality within the mind of Rodimus - until a chance encounter brought Rodimus to a Decepticon facility with a cloning machine, which allowed the evil personality to assume physical form and set out to rule all he encountered - Autobot and Decepticon alike.

Open the link below to check out the gallery of this awesome E-Hobby Masterpiece Transformer!

Transformers the Ride is coming to Universal Studios theme park in Orlando Florida - and ahead of the grand opening the big bad of Transformers, Megatron himself, has arrived to promote the attraction. By way of Inside the Magic we have clips and a video of Megatron stomping around, stopping for photo ops - but advising guests that "Megatron does NOT smile!"

By way of Collecticon, we have our first look at Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Megatron. Beast Hunters Megatron as perhaps we had anticipated is a remolded version of the previous Voyager toy, with a new weapon and extensive remolding for his "Hunter" armor. These images are of a mold-test prototype, which helpfully means we get a good look at what has been changed from the base figure. New / remolded parts include:
  • New remolded head, more menacing face.
  • New shoulders, spikier and more detailed.
  • New forearms, with fins at the wrists. The fins regrettably mean that the new gun needs an overlong handle to attach to the arm.
  • New lower legs / wings.
  • The clear purple section, which mounted the fusion cannon in vehicle mode on the first version of the mold, is enlarged and fills out the back more and we assume by extension also hides the arms in vehicle mode more.
  • New chest, which bears a slight passing resemblance to the beast mode head of Generation 1 Seacon Skalor.
  • The overall toy seems to have a fish theme going on with all the fins. The new weapon also keeps the fish theme going, and from what we can gather from the photos, the new gun appears to have a few sliding / folding parts as though it might actually transform into a sword.

If previous reports are correct, Megatron here will be the lone new toy in Beast Hunters Voyager Wave 4. Check out the pictures of him for an advance look at the latest incarnation of the leader of the Decepticons.

The latest issue of the Transformers Collector's Club Magazine, #50, has begun arriving in mailboxes. The top story in the issue is the confirmation that Hasbro will be making a Generations Hoist. He is a remold of Generations Trailcutter with a new head and a crane attachment in place of the back of the truck. The crane transforms into his gun.

Other highlights of the issue include:
  • Collector's Club subscription figure of Depth Charge as a homage to Marvel Transformers #22
  • Double page spread on the Botcon 2013 Machine Wars Termination Boxed set exclusives. Obsidian is now reportedly sporting an altered deco based on his appearance in the Beast Machines series. It is referred to as a "revised concept image".
  • The comic continues the Shattered Glass Beast Wars plotline. The Transformers Menagerie section covers the Dinobots. Bios are presented for Beast Wars Grimlock & Beast Wars II Dirge.
  • E-Hobby Magnificus will be available through the Transformers Collectors Club. Preorders will open 15 April 2013, price is $90.

Watch your mailboxes if you are club members for the latest issue.

MTV.com has updated with a brief interview with Transformers 4 star Mark Wahlberg, in the runup to Sunday's MTV Movie Awards. There are some great quotes from the article - including Mark Wahlberg apparently pushing for Michael Bay to stick with the Transformers franchise to make more movies past Transformers 4 (you'll recall that Michael Bay has stated previously during the making of Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon that he has variously wanted to "take a break from the franchise for a bit" or "next one is my last one" much as he has been saying here, so really, who knows if Mark Wahlberg is giving Mr Bay the push he needs to stay on for Transformers 5 and beyond?)

Other great quotes include the story of Mark Wahlberg being cast for Transformers 4 (Mark evidently jumped at the chance without even knowing what his role would be) and in a heartwarming twist the reaction of Mark Wahlberg's children to the news ('Yeah, shut up daddy. You're lying. You don't make movies that we want to see!'; direct quote!)

Check out the full article on MTV.com here.

Mastermind Creations have released a couple of new images of their Feralcons. This new image shows for the first time the new character "Fortis", their take on the rhino Predadon Headstrong. It might be the angle of the picture but he seems to be slightly shorter and stockier than Leo Dux / Razorclaw and Bovis / Tantrum.

The new images also show a size comparison with the Classics Voyager Optimus Prime mold (in the form of SDCC 2008 Nemesis Prime) showing that the three pictured are all approximately the size of the old Ultra Class.

By way of Apple's iBooks we can share an advance look at the upcoming More than Meets the Eye #16, and what an advance look it is! With the retro artstyle that was so awesome in the annuals for the ongoing comics this year, we have a flashback kicking off the issue - with nothing less than three pages of concentrated awesome in this preview. Heretech! Killmaster! K-Class Decepticons!

Check out the advance preview of the first part of "Remain in the Light", the conclusion to the first mega-arc of More than Meets the Eye! And also, if all this awesome isn't enough, check out the lineart for the Nick Roche cover to this issue too!

Hot on the tails of our initial news post of this exclusive figure for the upcoming Charticon convention, the guys organizing the inaugural convention have been posting a TON of updates on this highly anticipated figure! We've decided to devote a single "round-up" for them, so that you can view them all in one update!

The major news is that it is, in fact, including TWO Targetmaster type figures! These are redecos of the Mastershooter Collectible figures, courtesy of site sponsor Captured Prey. Attached to this article is a mock-up of those figures.

This figure is super-limited, and the "non-attendee" packages have sold out. However, don't fret! You can still join the party by attending the convention, as there are still attendee sets still available! Jump on over to the ordering page if you plan to join the party! Also, there is some important information here if you plan to attend and order this figure.

Also, if you have some skills but can't attend, the head sculpt is offered separately! This is also a more affordable version for those who passed on the non-attendee set and are unable to attend the convention. The head is available for $15. Jump directly on over to the Charticon site for ordering information! If you end up going this route, be sure to post your own work in Radicons via our Creative Forums!

Read on for tons more information after the jump!

Entertainment Website Mania has updated with a new image and a clip from Friday's new Transformers Prime Beast Hunters episode, Rebellion. It's a huge battle for the fate of the Earth with the Autobots staking it all on an all-or-nothing assault on the Decepticons - but as well as Megatron, Shockwave and Starscream, the Autobots need to contend with the Predacon and a whole armada of Jet Vehicon Generals!

Check out the clip from the episode below!

Beast Hunters episode 4, Rebellion, airs on The Hub tomorrow Friday 12 April at 7:30 pm EST. But if you are impatient and just have to know what happens, BWTF has posted an advance and spoiler-riffic review of the episode. Talk about it here!

By way of Toymoda we have a look at the latest new accessory kit from Dr Wu. One of the Dr's next released will be "Rear Guard", a set of arm cannons for the three Classics "Conehead" Seekers Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet. The weapons recreate the original toys' look of individualised weapons.

Check out the images attached to this post, but please remember that these are unofficial products not licensed or endorsed by Hasbro or Takara-Tomy.

The Hub (via BWTF) has released a new promotional image featuring Optimus Prime from the upcoming episode of Beast Hunters, Rebellion. There are massive spoilers in this image - so much so that in respect of those who don't want to be spoiled by the new episode, we've posted it after the jump.

Suffice is to say, this is a PRIME picture of Optimus Prime from Transformers Prime. If you are not averse to spoilers, then check out the new promo image, after the jump.
