Producers said the four winning contestants will join “a number of talented Chinese actors and actresses” in Transformers 4. The third film in the franchise, Dark of the Moon, generated $165 million in China, and stands fourth in the country’s overall box-office rankings behind Avatar, Lost in Thailand and Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons.

Through pre-recorded video footage, Ganis told the Chinese press that the show will “give actors and fans of the Transformers franchise the opportunity to be appearing in a major motion picture, and it will provide the world audience yet another glimpse of the Chinese people, the Chinese culture and China itself.”

DiBonaventura added that his team “are looking forward to becoming more and more part of the Chinese audience’s experience by bringing the Chinese culture, Chinese traditions and Chinese talent into the movie”.

By hyping the production of the film with a reality show, the Transformers producers have certainly tapped into the demands of China’s vast television audiences. The country’s viewers have become increasingly transfixed in recent years by this format, and the most-viewed programs today are dating shows as well as one in which celebrities participate in an extended period of training in high-platform diving.

Next up in our series of galleries on Masterpiece Soundwave and his minions we have the first of the two sets that featured Soundwave's cassette minions. MP-15 added Rumble (the red one) and Jaguar (aka Ravage) to the Masterpiece lineup. Like Masterpiece Laserbeak they are no bigger in cassette mode than the original Generation 1 cassettes.

Of the two, Ravage stands out like Laserbeak for being a marvel of engineering - the rockets, an accessory on Generation 1 Ravage, are fully integrated here and a clever transformation means that Ravage gets a jaguar mode that is scarily close to how he appeared in the cartoon. I say scary purely because of how tiny he is - definitely one to read the instructions on first!

Rumble meanwhile is equally impressive, less so in engineering (though the fact so much is packed into a small size is cool) but in poseability. Masterpiece Rumble has an insane amount of poseability for a toy around the same size as a Cyberverse toy. The fact he has a full complement of accessories including the iconic piledrivers, and that these can be used in some creative ways by Masterpiece Soundwave is the icing on a very sweet and tasty cake.

In the August listings, Budora and Goradora share the "dora" suffix suggesting they are Predacons. The pricepoint suggests both are Voyager Class, implying one of them may be Grimwing. Goradora is either new or an Abominus giftset, Evil Demon Combination (Maou Gattai) implies some kind of combiner set as this is the same naming forumula used for past combiner giftsets both within the Transformers line and more widely in other mecha toy lines. Hishomaru is new, and priced similarly to other Japan only releases like Jinbu and Ganoh. Hunter Ratchet is a Japanese release of Beast Hunters Deluxe Ratchet.

In the September releases, Judora once again has the kaiju-esque "dora" suffix and has a deluxe pricepoint, so will probably be the third of the three deluxe class Predacons being released under the Transformers Go! banner. Sensuimaru once again is new, and shares a price with the Japan only releases - odds are him and Hishomaru will be Japan exclusive releases along with the others previously revealed.
