I didn't get either, myself. However, if I had to pick one I'd get the clear Lockdown just because I like the character more.

He is also a grail to me. Amazing condition, I would not take him out of the box, because I have heard too many horror stories about the gold plating cracking or chipping by just looking at it wrong.

One of the nicest I have ever seen with all the contents unused and parts bags still sealed.

I've got a set of 3 here:

Decepticon Military Patrol, Autobot Hot Rod Patrol, and Autobot Monster Trucks Patrol--they seem to be the real deal, and the reason they are popping up is that I suspect they were foreign warehouse finds. All cards are in French(?) I believe, with the exception of proper names. The techs are entirely in another language, though. Cards are not in the greatest of shape, so MOSC collectors may not clamor to get them. I've actually been toying with the idea of opening them myself, but they still look so nice on those cards.

If anyone is hesitating thinking they're fake, I can attest from first hand that they don't appear to be. Seem to be worth picking up, if you like the little buggers!

You can always ask the seller about the auction, if you're concerned. And read through the feedback as well.

Aside from ebay, another place to check for more Micromasters is our very own Marketplace forum.

Yup! And the original G1 box art doesn't even show him in car mode, only robot & helicopter.

I'd go with the Universe version too.

I think the Botcon one looks nicer in Bot mode and is more scale appropriate with other Classics/Uni guys, but yes, it has the downsides of being expensive and having the other alt mode.

Honestly though neither are *crazy* desirable to me since I just want one that's a new triple changing mold, plus the whole forced clone factor with Universe Blades or Roadbuster shoved into brotherhood depending on who you choose, but oh well

Personally I use Energon Bulkhead as my stand in for Springer. I don't know why they didn't call him Springer to begin with, but I'm guessing they finally got the name back.

But as for your question it all depends on how much you want to spend. Obviously right now the Target one is more affordable and you get the Ratbat repaint of Sideways, who is also a great figure.

I do hope that one day we get a proper triple changing Springer

I feel maybe there'd have been room for such things as a proper Springer in the Uni/25th line if not for the next movie coming out next year, but alas

It only hurts when I look at how the G.I. Joe 25th line has worked out. When I look at what is presumably the sum of the TF 25th line it just feels a underwhelming in comparison. I hope there's still some surprises for us yet.

Could've been a trademark issue indeed but I'm not one of the guys that recite that crap like their phone number. I know he had the "proper" name in Japan at least.

It's a great toy but the old man face and the size keep him from being "my" proper Springer
