A new image of Transformers Collectors' Club Subscription Service 2.0 Thrustinator has been tweeted by the Club. In it, we can see Thrustinator in his unique alternate mode. Thrustinator is a redeco/remold of the Beast Wars II Dirgegun figure, and is a combination of the Beast Wars Waspinator and Beast Machines Thrust characters, meant to represent the unfortunate bot's state at the end of the Beast Machines cartoon. Keep in mind that the figure shown in the image is not final, but is a relatively good representation of how the final product will likely turn out for the most part.
UPDATE: The Club has confirmed the following regarding Thrustinator on their Twitter: "The purple will be a little darker, richer… closer to the show model. The green is GREAT! Missing a paint detail on the robotic eye. #Edits" |

Although we may have saw this coming months ago, it's finally official. The BotCon 2014 webpage has just been spotted online confirming the 30th Anniversary of Transformers will be celebrated in Pasadena, California from June 19 through June 22.
The BotCon Twitter feed even poked fun at themselves calling this "the worst kept [Transformers] 30th Anniversary secret." We're all just happy we can officially start asking our employers for days off now! As of right now there is no hotel or registration info yet, but keep it here on TFW2005 where we'll update you when the news goes live! Read on to check out a press release from Fun Publications! Start planning for BotCon 2014 everyone, it's right around the corner! Update: Just to throw a little more teasing our way, the BotCon Twitter feed also just dropped a line that "Issue #8 of Transformers Timelines has an ad for BotCon and a HUGE hint at this years set theme!" What could this year's theme be?! |

IDW is sharing with us, what they have planned for the upcoming year; 2014. Though it's called a "Sneak Peek", they only offer samples of few titles but mentions what they have in store for us.
From Transformers we have Transformers: Windblade, which will be out April next year. Spoiler: "Who is Windblade? In the aftermath of Dark Cybertron, Windblade takes the planet by storm—and Starscream’s not happy about her being there! But where did she come from—and what does her secret mean to the future of the Transformers? A powerful new chapter in the Transformers saga begins here!" X-Files: Conspiracies will also include Transformers. But, here's a bit of a surprise. Though it was mentioned countless times that there will be no tie-in/adaptation comic book for Transformers: Age of Extinction, the Sneak Peek lists that there will be one after all? At the moment we do not know whether this is an IDW story of their own or whether it ties with the movie story. However, judging by the wording on the Sneak Peek, it may imply that the list of movies are also based on the same Franchises which IDW has acquired license for. Check out the IDW 2014 Sneak Peek pdf here. |

Amazon Japan has posted the official images of Transformers Go! G26 EX Optimus Prime! The figure itself is pretty unique. It's a tripple changer, it's both a dragon AND a bullet train!
Other than those modes, the figure is capable to combine with G01 Kenzan and G05 Gekisomaru figures, which you can check out both of them after the jump. You can pre-order it now, but it is estimated to arrive on January 25th, 2014. |

Alfes2000 once again brings a look at the newest Japanese Transformers toy releases, this time showcasing the recently released Generations Legends Megatron, Chop Shop, Starscream and Waspinator set. The set collects the two Legends two packs in a single box and gives both redecos closer to their Generation 1 looks rather than the IDW designs on which the toy designs were based. There's lots of pics so go here to check out Megatron and here to check out Starscream.

Thanks to CYBERGEEKS Alliance Facebook page, we have a very first look at Generations Voyager Whirl in package! The figure itself was first revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2013, and it's heavly inspired by its G1 toy, with some resemblances to IDW comics Whirl.
If you're not so familiar with this toy, you can also check out its official pictures which we posted right after SDCC. |

Mairghread Scott, writer of IDW's upcoming Windblade comic (which we had previously reported), has released a few statements on her Tumblr regarding the comic. In them, she attempts to clarify and hint at how introducing another female Transformer in the IDW G1 continuity will be handled, and further muses about the subject of female Transformers in general.
Be warned, some of her comments may be considered slight spoilers in regards to Windblade's nature. If you don't mind, you can read her statements after the jump! (And if you Are a Windblade fan, consider joining TFW2005's Official Windblade Group, where Mairghread Scott's husband has decided to drop by to answer some questions!) UPDATE: Scott has provided more insight, this time into what she thinks about writer Simon Furman's controversial Arcee/female Transformer origin presented in Spotlight: Arcee. Read it after the jump, and keep an on eye on her Tumblr and Twitter pages to see if she provides any further updates! |

Back in October, we heard via listings on our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store of an upcoming assortment of Transformers Rescue Bots, called Rescue Bots Rescan. Today via the website of Smyth's Toys, we have a look at two of the toys in this series, Optimus Prime and Heatwave. While the toys retain the Playskool "first Transformer" simplicity that the Rescue Bots series is known for, the toy designs show both Rescue Bots have adopted new alternate modes - Optimus Prime is an all-terrain monster truck, and Heatwave's arms suggest he's now a boat.
Now we know that the "rescan" in Rescue Bots Rescan means that the Rescue Bots are scanning new alternate modes for themselves - but does this mean this will be reflected in the new season of the Rescue Bots cartoon, or is it merely a new way to sell toys in the Rescue Bots line without diverging into masses of non-show characters? Watch this space for more news. |

X-Transbots have released final product images of their unofficial, unlicensed Huffer and Pipes minibots, Krank and Stax, via the TFUpgrader Facebook page. The pair feature chromed arms like the original Generation 1 toys and alternate heads to reflect the different ways both have been depicted in comics and cartoons over the years. They are done roughly to Masterpiece scale and can tow the trailer for MP-10 Masterpiece Convoy. Check out the images and see what you think.

Looks like YOTH Optimus Prime is busting out the gate a bit early, galloping to a Toys R Us near you. 2005 Boards member Sinestro snapped this pic showing the Asian Market (inspired) Masterpiece Optimus Prime repaint on the shelves and ready for sale at Toys R Us in the UK. User Stony2511, also from the UK, reported it at a different store too, tho with no pics. No word yet of them popping up in the States or elsewhere yet. Happy hunting! If you find him or Platinum Starscream, make sure to let everyone know in our Transformers Sightings forum!

Thanks to writer Mairghread Scott's postings in TFW2005's very own Windblade fan club, it has been confirmed that the Windblade fiction will consist of not just a single comic, but will be a 4 issue mini-series. What's interesting is that Scott also notes the possibility of it evolving into an ongoing should the project be successful, which would presumably run alongside MTMTE, RID, and whatever else may pop up. She also answers some other questions and goes into even further detail about various topics.
Be warned, some of her comments may be considered slight spoilers. If you don't mind, you can read her quotes and discuss your feelings about this revelation after the jump! UPDATE: According to another the post from the group, we have confirmation that it will be a monthly series, with the first issue scheduled for release in April 2014 and pre-orders opening up for it near the end of January. |

In the latest edition of Japanese hobby magazine, an article talking about the future of the Transformers Masterpiece series reveals that the 2014 Masterpiece series releases will have a new designer - Hironori Kobayashi will be taking over the reins from Shogo Hasui, who brought us the Masterpiece series releases from MP11 Starscream version 2 through to the recently released MP19 Smokescreen.
You need not worry though, because Hironori Kobayashi is no stranger to the Transformers Masterpiece series - he was the designer on the first ten Masterpieces that Takara and later Takara-Tomy released, from MP1 Masterpiece Convoy / 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime to MP10 Convoy Version 2. He also did the initial work on MP3 Starscream, which was revised by Shoji Kawamori. Mr Kobayashi's other Transformers design credits include the Alternity series. Please note that this does not affect the design of the Masterpiece Star Saber, which is being undertaken by Hishashi Yuki as previously reported. |

Here comes a very interesting and fun interview with the man who killed Optimus Prime! Todd Matthy had a chance to sat down and talk with Rod Friedman (writer of Transformers, Iron Man, Fantastic Four) He talks about his experiences as a writer, his friendship with Stan Lee, and of course, killing one of our favorite childhood heros.
''In the summer of 1986, children were traumatized when Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to stop his archrival, Megatron. But it wasn’t Megatron who pulled the trigger, it was a writer named Ron Friedman. Ron Friedman wrote Transformers: The Movie. He wrote the five-part miniseries that launched GI Joe. He is close friends with Stan Lee and helped Stan develop The Marvel Action Hour, featuring Iron Man and Fantastic Four. He has written episodes of All in the Family, Happy Days, and Fantasy Island. In addition to his writing credentials, Ron is an architect and a teacher at Chapman University. In 2014, Ron plans to chronicle his experiences as a writer in the memoir, I Killed Optimus Prime. The book promises a fascinating look behind the scenes of the shows that defined our childhood. I had the privilege of speaking with Ron about his career, his friendship with Stan Lee, what he thought when he first saw the Transformers, how Orson Welles became Unicron, and why he didn’t want to kill Optimus Prime. So, to kick off the 30th Anniversary of the Transformers, Ron Friedman, the man who killed Optimus Prime.'' You can check out the full interview here. But be warned, it contains some language. |

Well, this isn't exactly the earth-shattering news material, but hey… some news is better than nothing right? Some of you are now celebrating the New Year and some of you are still waiting. Here's a story of someone else who waited. Simon Delaney; Irish Actor and Director spoke to Herald about the night Jack Reynor landed his major role in Transformers: Age Of Extinction.
"We all knew when we were shooting Delivery Man that he [Jack] had done a couple of screen tests and auditions for Transformers, every day we would say: 'Any news?' Jack was actually on set one night, Michael Bay [the director of Transformers] called and he stepped off set to take the call," Simon revealed. "Everyone was looking through a window, like eager fathers awaiting the birth of their new son, and he came back in and said, 'I got it'. There was a little bit of a party that night." According to the article, this is a 3 movie deal - which only reinforces the notion of Transformers 5 and 6 happening in the future. Speaking of Transformers Movies… we are now only a little more than a month away from out first look at Transformers 4. Be sure to stick with TFW2005 more news soon. Happy 2014 Everybody… it's Time To Go Big Or Go Extinct!!! (Ok, so maybe the last line was bit cheesy.) |
