Thanks to Masterpiece designer Shogo Hasui's (who was unfortunately previously reported to be being replaced by previous Masterpiece designer Hironori Kobayashi) Twitter, we now have another look at MP-20 Masterpiece Wheeljack! Although it is yet another silhouette image, it does provide us with a basis for estimation of what the final product may look like. Wheeljack is scheduled for release in 2014. It shouldn't be too long now until we start seeing images of the final product!

From Meteor Operation's Facebook page, we have a silhouette of what looks to be an upgrade kit for Fall of Cybertron Ruination, who is a combination of the five Wreckers. This kit will be produced by 3rd party group Echo TF, and odds are it will be relatively similar to their previous Fall of Cybertron Bruticus upgrade kit.

All of us here at Transformers World 2005 would like to wish you a happy, prosperous and healthy new year!
2014 has arrived, and with it, the 30th year of the Transformers franchise! Transformers will turn 30 on May 8 2014, which is the 30th anniversary of the publication of the first Transformers comic book from Marvel comics, and September 17 2014 will see the 30th anniversary of the classic Generation 1 cartoon series and our ears being graced with the voices of Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, the late Chris Latta, Corey Burton and so many others bringing our favorite Robots in Disguise to life. Looking ahead to 2014, we have a lot to look forward to. In comics, we have two big events coming with the conclusion of the Dark Cybertron crossover event in IDW's Robots in Disguise and More than Meets the Eye books, with the promise of two new series later in the year, Windblade and a new Transformers / G.I. Joe crossover. 2014 is also going to see the conclusion to the comic series that started it all, with Transformers Regeneration 1 #100 due to arrive in March. Of course no look to what is to come would be complete without making mention of a new Transformers live action movie, coming at the end of June! Michael Bay is bringing Optimus Prime and Bumblebee back to the big screen in Transformers Age of Extinction! A new story with a new cast, we can look forward to a new big screen adventure starring Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz alongside our favorite robots in disguise. All this and of course, new Transformers toys! In 2014 Hasbro is bringing us more of their new Constructabots series with Beast Hunters themed sets coming up soon, plus the new, simpler Beast Hunters toys. For us collectors, we can look forward to new Masterpiece Transformers including Masterpiece Wheeljack and the rumored Masterpiece Bumblebee and Masterpiece Ultra Magnus from Takara-Tomy, and from Hasbro, a 30th anniversary Transformers Generations lineup which includes not only homages to the original Transformers, but updates to characters from across Transformers' rich history including Beast Wars and Beast Machines. A lot has been rumored, so watch this space next month for all the cool new toys being revealed at the US Toy Fair 2014. That's all from us for now. Have a safe and happy 2014, and join us in celebrating the 30th anniversary year of the Transformers! Photo attached to this story is Mach Kick, from Beast Wars Neo, inspired by my good friend SydneyY in the spirit of the Year of the Horse. |

It seems like we've only just cleared away the Christmas wrapping paper and found spots on our shelves for the Transformers gifted to us by our loved ones. So it's perhaps not unsurprising that we've got a sighting of some Transformers Generation 1 themed Valentines cards. They come 34 to a box with Transformers temporary tattoos, and feature Generation 1 box artwork of Megatron, Soundwave, Optimus Prime (in original and Powermaster flavors) and some contemporary artwork of Generation 1 Bumblebee. The cards are accompanied by messages such as Bumblebee's "let's get to it, Valentine!" and Megatron's "Valentine, you are a leader!" (read that one back in Frank Welker's Megatron voice for added effect).
These were spotted at K-Mart. Many thanks to TFW2005 member Shark Jumper for the heads up. |

The Transformers Legends blog has just announced the next event for the Transformers Legends mobile game.
And in addition to Optimus Prime and Megatron (duh), it features Ramjet and Brawn. Check out the description below. ''For the month of January, journey back in time with us to 1986. The year when Voyager 2 was reaching the outer planets of our solar system. The year when the protocol for e-mail was being defined. The year when the Mir space station was launched. The year that was “Beyond good. Beyond evil. Beyond your wildest imagination.” Megatron and the Decepticons strain Autobot City’s defenses to the breaking point through an unrelenting barrage of attacks. Optimus Prime fearlessly launches into the fray, clearing a path through Decepticon forces to reach Megatron. Who will stand and who will fall? Find out in “The Battle for Autobot City”!'' |

Things are very quiet on the Transformers: Universe game. Occasionally we get tidbits, but even they are on an unofficial ground. The game went from MMORPG to MMOBA. That was the last know major news and it was many months ago. However today, a Beta Tester for the game has leaked some more info… especially about various game modes TFU has to offer.

Entertainment Earth has listed some new Transformers merchandise which is slated to be released in March 2014 in time for the 30th anniversary of the franchise. Hasbro licensee Goldie International will be producing a series of minifigures which cover three distinct eras of Transformers history in the first assortment - Generation 1, the Movies, and Transformers Prime.
There are three different assortments listed - 30th anniversary minifigure single packs - the character assortment here includes Generation 1 Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Ratchet, Movie Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Ratchet and Sentinel Prime, and Transformers Prime Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Ratchet and Bulkhead. 30th anniversary minifigure three packs - these focus on single characters in their three incarnations from Generation 1, the Movies, and Transformers Prime, and will include three packs of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and Ratchet. Lastly there are 30th anniversary minifigure five packs which are said to each focus on a particular era, with a Generation 1 five pack, a Movie series five pack and a Transformers Prime five pack announced. We'd imagine these will collect the five characters from each era released as single packs although no names are given on the listings. There are no pictures available as yet, but with Toy Fair 2014 coming up shortly, Hasbro and their licensees might show off some more at that time. |

An exciting piece of Transformers: Age Of Extinction news just crossed the wire thanks to the "Pop Wars" Instagram account. If you're not into any sort of possible spoilers, such as possible character confirmations, be safer than sorry and skip the rest.
The one image we have from "Pop Wars" shows three characters, two of which are very recognizable as Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and the third character is mentioned as being Drift! If you look closely, you're also able to make out some very interesting details on the "Drift" figure, such as a Bugatti car grill on his chest. These figures will be fully revealed at this year's Toy Fair, so be sure to check back with us at TFW to get even more details about upcoming Transformers Age Of Extinction products! Sound off after the jump! |

As is tradition, we pause with the passing of another year to reflect on the top Transformers of 2013. By all accounts 2013 was an up year for collectors compared to 2012. As evidence of this, the more collector-oriented Generations and Masterpiece lines dominated our staff lists in 2013, as well as releases from fan-favorite series "Beast Wars". 2013 also saw the remarkable release of not one but two city-formers in Generations Metroplex and Encore Fortress Maximus.
So, which figures did the TFW staff rank as tops in 2013? Is your favorite release represented? Read on to find out more and sound off in the thread to let your opinion be known! |

In what will surely become a new tradition at TFW2005, our staff compiled a list of their top 3rd party items for 2013. The previous year featured continued proliferation of both 3rd party companies and releases, with many stepping up their game in a bid to win the hearts of fans. The TFW2005 staff attempted to separate the wheat from the chaff, with high marks being awarded to multiple combiner teams, a certain "heady" sub-line, as well as our first "Masterpiece" 3rd party figure.
Follow the link below for the full list of 3rd party staff picks for 2013. Agree? Disagree? Sound off in the thread and let us know! |

Ashley Wood; artist and co-founder of threeA has recently sat down for a Q&A session to reveal upcoming plans for his company. During the session, he revealed that they have acquired license to manufacture replicas based on the Transformers Franchise in 2014.
This is awesome news since threeA is known to produce some really cool action figures. Of course this isn't the first time threeA manufactured robots, they had some experience with toy robots based on Real Steel. However, threeA figures are a bit expensive; starting from $25 they can go up more than $1000. Since threeA has hands-on experience with Movie Figures, there is a huge possibility that these 2014 Transformers Figures might be from Transformers: Age Of Extinction. Q: With 3AA almost upon us, I would love to know what licensed figures will we see in 2014? You mentioned Marvel specifically and hinted other designers and artists. I know that 3AA doesn't have written in stone plan, but better hint would be great! SGDM and MaK maybe? A: Actually our plans are 90% original content, I see 3A's strength as bringing original ideas to market, regarding licenses thought we have more Halo, Marvel, MGS, Valve universe and Transformers and not forgetting Micronauts. Thats more than enough! Naturally we have some surprises in these realms as well! He didn't reveal more than that. You can check out their previous work at World Of 3A. |

New 3rd party group, Warbotron, have updated their Facebook page with a long awaited update on their unofficial Bruticus project. We have in package images of the first release, WB01-A Air Burst. Which is their unofficial version of Blast Off. The package images shows a sleeve that lifts off and the package within gives us an idea of what the colors are going to look like for this release. This figure has been given a release date of 1st quarter 2014, so Warbotron seems to be on target for their first release.

Arr, matey!
Courtesy of D-Drive, who has acquired the new Timelines #8: Termination comic, we now have a relatively big hint at what the Botcon 2014 theme will be. Cybertron Cannonball's flag is shown, hinting that at least part of the theme will have to do with: pirates! A small text blurb is also shown, possibly narrated by Cannonball himself. Check it out in the attached image of the page in question! So, what exactly could this set consist of? Could it tie in with Thundertron and his Star Seekers - a group which Cannonball was a part of in the Exiles novel? Or perhaps it's simply focusing on Cannonball's merry band of space pirates in the Cybertron cartoon continuity itself - the tales of which were previously chronicled in the TFCC text story "The Dark Heart of Sandokan"? Sound off on what you think about this revelation in the discussion thread! UPDATE: Looking over the Club's Twitter, it appears that the set will only be 50% pirate-themed. What exactly might the other half be? We'll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime, speculate away in the thread! |

It seems like the E-Hobby and Takara-Tomy Mall exclusive line of Transformers toys, Transformers Cloud, is planned to feature eight different toy releases, four on Takara-Tomy Mall and four on E-Hobby. The order page for the Cloud Optimus Prime on Takara-Tomy Mall has a line of text which states:
Please look forward to the new series of Transformers that are planned based on the story over the years each site will have 4 items of products. (Translation by Bing, with some tweaks to improve clarity by yours truly) This suggests that in addition to Optimus Prime (from Classics Optimus Prime) and Megatron (from Generations GDO Megatron) there might be six more toys to come out of this lineup. The Transformers Cloud first story chapter illustration teases a Rodimus from Generations Voyager Springer; could this be one of the six? Big thanks to TFW2005 member Powered Convoy for pointing this out to us! |

Michael Bay is trending on Twitter… and it's for a very embarrassing reason. The Transformers: Age Of Extinction director had a bit of a predicament on stage at CES when his teleprompter went nuts. Technology… you never know when it'll take you down.
Anyway, the director soon made a statement on his official site and promising that we’ll see Transformers 4 footage along with Samsung's new Curved 105-inch UHD TV. "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing. But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world. Michael" |
