Next in our series of advance looks at yet-to-reach-US-retail Transformers toys we have a look at Generations Autobot Scoop with his Targetmaster partners, Caliburst and Holepunch! Scoop is an update of the original character from the 1988 Generation 1 series and this is his first new toy in almost 25 years!
Generations Scoop is a fairly nifty toy. He's an update in the style of Universe 2.0 Prowl or Sunstreaker - a version realised with modern technology, better proportions and aesthetics that still ultimately remains extremely faithful to the Generation 1 original. He's got a good range of poseability in robot mode, though the ball jointed hips can sometimes feel a little restricted if they catch on the waist. In vehicle mode he is a nifty little front end loader, and the robot head sits inside the vehicle cab, which is a nice touch reminiscent of Robots in Disguise X-Brawn's head being on his car seat in vehicle mode. Scoop is accompanied by his two Targetmasters, Holepunch and Caliburst (formerly Tracer). Like the originals, these two do not have a lot of poseability though the moveable arms are a plus. They can turn into a pair of guns for Scoop to wield in either mode, or they can be combined into a larger weapon. Just like the original Generation 1 toy, Holepunch and Caliburst can combine in two different configurations, and there are a good selection of ways for Scoop to wield the combined weapon, not least because once combined the rifle gets two pegs for him to grip on to. Overall, Scoop is a brilliant and extremely fun toy with lots of possibilities for attaching his guns to his different modes. He might seem like an odd choice to use for an upgrade, but he is well realized and is a good toy in a great assortment. Be sure to scoop him up to add to your collection when he hits retail. Thanks to the folks at 2chan, we have a look at Rescue Bots Rescan Heatwave's card back. Also included on that back is art depicting a battle scene where some dinosaur robots (but not necessarily the actual Dinobots) are in action. It looks like Rescue Bots will be continuing to run alongside the mainline this year with a similar theme. Check out the picture after the break!

Looks like HK-TF member stevenhyk is the first one to experience some super-unvincibility, as thanks to him, we have our first in-hand images of Generations Voyager Whirl! Whirl is very G1-inspired, while taking a few minor cues from his IDW More than Meets the Eye counterpart, specifically in the head and legs. He features an opening cockpit, and much like Generations Metroplex, he also comes with a decal sheet.
Check out the images after the jump, then let us know what you think in the discussion thread! |

With all the talk about simplification and downsizing going on in the fandom, we thought it'd be nice to show what the other direction can bring to the table.
MPM-2 Bumblebee was the Takara "Masterpiece" repaint of Hunt for the Decepticons Battle Ops Bumblebee. MPM-2 was a larger than Masterpiece version of Movie Bumblebee from Revenge of the Fallen with a dead on accurate Camaro mold. Lights and sounds galore. The robot sculpt was also well-done, though it lacked in some arm and leg movement. Paint on the Takara version covered the entire car rather than just yellow plastic, and the interior robot mode was a darker grey with lots of hand painted highlights. Simplification, smaller molds, less paint - these have a place in the brand as it moves forward for sure. I've had trouble figuring these things out for a while and I'm grown. We just hope that figures like MPM-2, other Masterpieces, well done Leader Class figures (ROTF Leader size, please) stick around in some form as well. And not just $180 dollar imports from Japan. Take a look at the full gallery for MPM-2 Bumblebee by clicking the link below, we've also attached some key shots after the break! Masterpiece Movie Bumblebee (MPM-2) Gallery |

Ever since we heard that there will be a 4th installment for the Michael Bay Transformers Live Action Movie Franchise, the number 1 debate was whether or not it's a reboot. Today, Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura stated that Transformers: Age Of Extinction is a continuation of the original trilogy and cannot be considered as a reboot.
During an interview with The Hollywood News, Mr. di Bonaventura stated: "It’s definitely not a reboot. It’s an interesting question about what you should call it. On a certain level it’s a continuation of the previous stories, in the fact that it acknowledges what has transpired before it. It acknowledges in the last movie, the destruction of Chicago, it’s actually something that carries through the sort of emotional repercussions of that, not unlike 9/11 has emotional repercussions in the real world. In a fantasy world there are repercussions to what occurred. That plays into the movie, moving forwards with a totally different human cast, who doesn’t know anything about the other humans, it’s not a reboot, but a continuation, yet you’re continuing with a new cast and group of characters. It was a big decision to do that. We miss our friends that we did the first three with, and they were great, and they probably could’ve done more. But the advantage of doing it this way is that it feels almost like a first movie. It’s a very different dynamic than I’ve seen in a movie, I’m very curious. I guess Star Wars did that a little bit, but not so close together, the way we’re doing it.’" |

Day 1 of London Toy Fair 2014 ended moments ago and we are here with the Transformers news.
Hasbro's Transformers is the main sponsor of UK Toy Fair this time but this newsie is sure that's not the reason why the company won Best Toy Fair Toy awards under several categories. Of course as usual, things were all hush-hush when it comes to Transformers. Only the privileged few were able to take a look at this year's Transformers product line. No matter, no matter… there is always the New York Toy Fair. However, licensed manufacturers were able to show everyone what they have to offer. If you want to know the list, you can read our rundown posted not too long ago. According to reports we received, HTI Group was there with their Transformers: Age of Extinction Optimus Prime Challenge Track Set. You can check out more info here. As we stated before, Winning Moves were seen with Transformers 4 board games. MV Sports were seen with a TF4 Optimus Prime scooter. Reports say that it is more than meets the eye. Also, a bit of a surprise. I'm sure you may remember we brought you a news post stating that Nikko has acquired license to manufacture R/C Cars based on Transformers: Age of Extinction. It is said that they were there at the Peterkin UK booth. Optimus Prime and Bumblebee R/C vehicles were seen and the best part is… with a push of a button, they transform into robot modes. I know some of you guys will cry… but if only those characters (in the picture attached to this news post after the jump) would move out of the way. ![]() Hopefully, we'll hear more news tomorrow. Stay tuned with TFW2005. |

Thanks to the Transformers Collectors' Club's Twitter, we have a few new looks at a handful of Transformers Subscription Service 2.0 figures!
Mainly shown off are Chromedome and his partner Stylor. Also teased in one of the images is Chromedome's Conjunx Endura, Rewind - although unfortunately, he isn't shown in full yet. In these images, we get a good look at the figures themselves, as well as Chromedome's and Rewind's new heads. These heads were designed by fan-favorite Transformers artist Nick Roche, and are inspired by IDW's popular More than Meets the Eye series. The Club is assuming that Stylor (and the rest of the Micron partners) will come pre-assembled, but says that things could change. Check out the images after the jump, then share your thoughts in the discussion thread! |

Hat tip goes out to TFW boards member Gaokaiser for the new scan from the most recent Figure Oh magazine. In the new scan we have some images of upcoming Takara releases as well as figures we have yet to see.
Included are previously seen images of Masterpiece Wheeljack and what appears to be new images of Wheeljack design sketches. Also, we have some great shots of Masterpiece G2 Sideswide showing off his assortment of weapons he'll come with. Of newer interest it looks like the Fall Of Cybertron/Generations Grimlock mold will be seeing a red redeco into what we can assume would be an homage to Doomlock, a figure from Transformers Energon. The last tidbit is a corner image of a blacked out character silhouette, although not much can be seen right now in the hard to see image. You can make out some distinct details, such as what appears to be a shield What figure can they be hinting at; is this a possible Age Of Extinction figure? Check out the scans after the jump! |

TFW2005 Boards member Soundwavedotm had the privilege to visit UK Toy Fair 2014 and to see the Transformers: Age Of Extinction toyline… AND the Trailer.
At the moment he’s sending us the details (and images). Watch this space and the thread associated, for the latest news as we receive them. According to our member, the Trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction was shown at the show floor featuring Grimlock (this newsie assumes that the Dinobots presence in the 4th installment is not a spoiler anymore). First two waves of the toyline will feature most of the main cast. This was a huge issue with DOTM as many great Cybertronians were left out without a toy. Hasbro, you are doing it right. Some of the toys he saw: Optimus Prime (Voyager and Leader), Bumblebee, Drift (Bugatti Veyron), Crosshairs (Now we have the name confirmed), Lockdown (Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4) and Grimlock in T-Rex mode. The Generations line was also spotted and they all looked good (*sighs of relief from many fans*) More to come. Stay tuned with TFW2005. |

By way of German retailer Toy Palace we have a look at some new Transformers 4 merchandise. This merchandise all comes in Optimus Prime and Bumblebee flavors and gives us another good look at their new robot designs.
There are three styles, each one with an Optimus Prime and a Bumblebee version. There are keychains of the whole robots, which you can twist the waists on to activate forearm swinging action; statues of the robots' upper bodies with original movie sounds; and fridge magnets of Optimus and Bumblebee's heads which have a light up function. Check out the images attached to this post. |

Comic book website Comics Alliance has sat down and interviewed Transformers cartoon and comic writer, Mairghread Scott, about some of the many facets of being a writer. This is quite appropriate, as Scott is the first woman to pen a Transformers comic.

It's Day 2 of UK Toy Fair 2014 and we have our first news from the show floor. On our London Toy Fair Report, we mentioned that Paladone Products will manufacture 30 Figurines based on the Transformers Franchise by Hasbro. 15 of them were to be characters from various toy/story lines throughout the past 30 years while 15 of them were to be from the upcoming Michael Bay movie; Transformers: Age Of Extinction.
Paul Nicholasi; the writer of Idle Hands blog is bringing us some photos of these figures from the Paladone Products booth at the Toy Fair. The images are only of non-movie (AOE) figures based on famous Cybertronians such as G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron, Transformers: Prime Ratchet and Bulkhead, Movie 1 Megatron etc. Either he was not allowed to photograph the 4th Movie Characters or they were not brought into the Fair Grounds. Update: Thanks to a fellow Transformers fan; Citizen from All Spark, we have learned that the 30 toys no longer contain any figures from Transformers 4. The 30 figures now consists of: 10 from G1, 10 from Transformers: Prime and 10 from Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. Check out the images, after the jump. |
