Marvin S. Mariano, who did the artwork and toy designs for the new Transformers Rescue Bots Rescan series, shared some cool artwork with the Transformers Rescue Bots Facebook group.
What you can see in this artwork are the artwork for the new forms of Bumblebee and Heatwave in both their modes - and, in dead center, a good look at the art for the new Rescue Bots Optimus Primal, whose identity as a mecha T-Rex was confirmed at the UK Toy Fair. In beast mode, the new Optimus Primal is a hybrid of a T-Rex and an excavator, with a shovel on his tail and smokestacks for ears; in robot mode, he draws on a bit of a Beast Wars Megatron homage and sports the T-Rex head for a right arm. Check out the image and see what you think of the all-new Optimus Primal for the Rescue Bots series. |

Takara-Tomy have updated their Transformers website with a page for the next Masterpiece series release, Generation 2 Sideswipe / Lambor G-2 Version. There's five images on the page which showcase the toy and its features, including the new guns and sword weapon, as well as the optional stickers - Lambor comes with the option of either Generation 1 or Generation 2 style logos, plus optional bright green G2 inspired "SS" details on the doors, "Side Swipe" spoiler stickers and roof sticker. There are also some side-by-side pictures with the initial Masterpiece Sideswipe / Lambor on the page.

Takara-Tomy have announced a new lineup of collector figures, named Takara-Tomy Arts, or to use its unfortunate abbreviation, T-Arts. The lineup has not yet been fully announced but fans of the previous non-transformable figure releases like the Revoltechs or Mega SCF series might want to keep an eye on this one - the website teaser image shows a silhouette which is very clearly a Generation 1 Megatron.
It may well be a placeholder - but be sure to watch this space for more information. |

Via Japanese blogger UNOYO we can share with you some in hand pictures of the newly released Transformers Go! Optimus EX Prime. Optimus EX Prime is a new evolution of Optimus Prime created for the Japan-only portion of the Transformers Go line. He's a triple changer, transforming from mighty robot to bullet train to dragon - and he can also combine with the leaders of the Samurai team and Shinobi team, Kenzan and Gekisomaru, in two different ways to form Daikenzan and Daigekiso.
Check out the images and see what you think of the dragon-train! |

Good news, Masterpiece collectors! If you, like me, missed out on the chance to own Takara-Tomy's Masterpiece Red Alert the first time round, and have not yet caved and brought one on the secondary market, then you might be interested to know that Masterpiece Red Alert will be getting a reissue in fourth quarter 2014, according to our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store. We've also heard that this will probably be an early fourth quarter release, nearer to September than December.
Be sure to get preorders in if you need to fill that Red Alert shaped hole in your Masterpiece collections! |

Coming to us via MakeToys' website, we have some new images of the first entries in their "Manga Mech Series": their unofficial Swerve and Gears figures, Trash-Talk and Cogwheel! Trash-Talk/Swerve is based on his much-beloved IDW More than Meets the Eye depiction, while Cogwheel is a retool of him into Gears.
As we had previously reported, it seems MakeToys has listened to the fans and have created a My First Blaster accessory for Trash-Talk/Swerve, based on the character's signature weapon in MTMTE! We get our first full look at it here - it is VERY accurate to its appearance in the comic (even sporting the "My First Blaster" label on its side), and should make all those MTMTE fans out there happy. It seems it will be sold separately and will require assembly. According to MakeToys' website, these will be coming out next month. Check out the images after the jump! |

Hoo boy, looks like we got a whole bunch of IDW info to deliver to you guys. Some new comic pre-orders are open!
Coming to us via James Roberts' Twitter and, Mairghread Scott's Tumblr, we have some information and details about the process of pre-ordering both the first issue of More than Meets the Eye's second season, MTMTE #28, and also the first issue of the Windblade series, Windblade #1. Specifically, offered up in these posts are important details on how to go about pre-ordering whichever particular cover you want, using various specific pre-order codes at your local comic book shop. If you're unsure of where your nearest comic shop is, you can use one of the many local comic book shop locators online to find one. Of course, since it's such a fantastic series, you would be doing a good deed by pre-ordering MTMTE #28 to show that there's still interest in the series and sales to be had. However, pre-orders are perhaps even more critical for the Windblade series; as we had previously reported, strong pre-order numbers would mean that the 4 issue mini-series would perhaps have a chance of evolving into an ongoing series running alongside fellow ongoings More than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise. This is the series that will bring female Transformers to the fore (although it was recently revealed that female Transformers were going to be added in by James Roberts and John Barber even before Mairghread Scott was brought on board). And because he is a devious man, James Roberts has also tweeted out some minor teases about what is in store for us in More than Meets the Eye's second season... making the wait even more torturous. Be warned, however, for some of these tweets may be considered slight SPOILERS for what is to come. For the full details, you can view the tweets and Tumblr post in question after the jump and then discuss on the boards! Aaand lastly, if you're especially interested in her, you can join TFW2005's official Windblade group by clicking here! |

Along with their unofficial Swerve and Gears figures, MakeToys has updated their Facebook page with additional photos of two other upcoming releases. First, there are additional photos of their MCB-001 Armageddon upgrade kit for Platinum Edition Omega Supreme. This upgrade kit, as shown earlier, adds wings and a proper cannon to this Hasbro released remold of Energon Omega Supreme. These new pics show how the alternate mode looks applied to the figure. The add-on parts provide a track and launch gantry for ultimate G1-ification.
Their last update today is for a figure they teased back in May of last year. The MT-03N Nemesis is yet another release of their trailer upgrade kit for the Reveal the Shield deluxe Optimus mold. This release looks similar to their recently released Hyper Novae, but instead of large wings, the figure sports lots of chains and a rather creepy looking cape. It's not yet known whether the TFCC Subscription Service RID Scourge figure can plug into this kit as the figure comes with its own robot, sans armor, but make sure to keep tabs on our thread for this figure in the third party forum! Check out the pictures from both updates by clicking the title bar. Clicking the title bar will also take you to the Nemesis thread, and if you'd like to discuss the Armageddon Upgrade, click here! |

Wrapping up our coverage of Transformers Generation 2014 Deluxe Wave 2, we have a look at the Mini-Con Assault Team! Much like the Mini-Con teams of Transformers Armada, the Mini-Con Assault Team is a three pack of smaller Transformers, named Heavytread, Runway, and Windsheer. The trio are each a bit larger than the Mini-Cons of old - closer to Cyberverse Legion size. They also have another ability - the trio can merge to form Centuritron, a roughly Deluxe sized robot. That's seven different modes, and effectively four different robots, all in one Deluxe sized package!
Individually, each Mini-Con is roughly on a par with a good Legion class toy - each one has a great range of movement, especially Runway and Windsheer. Transformations between modes are simple, but clean. Each of the trio manages to avoid having too many obvious cues of their combined mode visible - Heavytread does look like a pair of legs from some angles, but then he is also rendered as a heavy-set robot, so he gets away with it. Combined, the Centuritron is a nicely integrated little robot. His three component Mini-Cons all have a unified color scheme, so they blend when they are merged, which helps Centuritron look like a unified whole and not three robots combined. He's got a decent range of movement too - some joints are a little restricted, but not terribly so. One thing to watch out for are the shoulders, which being ball jointed, may work loose over time, especially with the size of the Mini-Cons combined weapons. Overall, the Mini-Con Assault Team is a fantastic set. It's great value for money, presenting three great little robots and their combined form. It's one of those sets which reminds you just how amazing Hasbro's releases can be. Check out our gallery for this set at the links below - we have split up the set to give each of the Mini-Cons, and the combined Centuritron, their own sub-galleries. Thanks to the Smyths Toys website, we have a good look at some new products for Transformers: Age of Extinction; such as water bottles, lunch bags and a brand new laser set with LEDs and sound effects.
But the interesting part is their exterior featuring new and high-resolution looks at Optimus and Grimlock! We've seen these renders on so many different occasions but this is the first time we get to see them in detail. Go and check them out! |

It’s Sunday everywhere and we are only a week away from the Transformers: Age of Extinction Superbowl TV spot.
Alex Kubalsky; an Australian toy designer who worked with TakaraTomy is sharing with us, some of the work he had done previously. He is in fact the very person who designed the very first Transformers Live Action Movie Deluxe Bumblebee. Other than that, he has updated his Facebook Fan Page with design concepts for Transformers Animated Deluxe Bumblebee, Transformers Movie Deluxe Wreckage, Transformers Real Gear High Score 100, Transformers Classic Deluxe Mirage and Transformers Animated Blackarachnia. We've mirrored some of his work with this news post. But, you can check out more at his Facebook page. |

This subject was discussed few months back and today we have a new update to the story. There is a small article on ABL Korea today, regarding the Product Placement of Chinese Brands in the upcoming Michael Bay movie; Transformers: Age Of Extinction.
According to the article, Trumpchi E-jet by Guangzhou Vehicle Group (known as GAC) will be featured prominently. We are yet to find out whether this car is an Autobot, A Decepticon or just another regular car which a human cast member will drive. However, the owners of GAC has requested from the production crew not to align the car with an evil faction. But the final decision was with Michael Bay. Other than the car, we would see Laptops from Lenovo; a quite a popular brand in the Asian region. TV Manufacturer TCL Corporation will also make an appearance. Chinese Leisurewear Brand Meters/bonwe is also another product placement in the movie. When asked from producers regarding what other brands will make an appearance, both Paramount Pictures and China Movie Channel declined to comment. ABL Korea was supposedly told that certain brands will not be revealed until very near the movie release date. |

For our next gallery update, we would like to share with you our gallery of Masterpiece Smokescreen! The 19th (individually numbered) release in the Transformers Masterpiece series, Smokescreen is the third in the Masterpiece Datsun trio.
While Prowl and Streak were each moderately remolded from one another, with Smokescreen Takara-Tomy completely remolded the toy - including not only the reworked front end of the vehicle mode like the Generation 1 original, but new launchers and differently designed shoulders. This is all in aid of giving Smokescreen a cartoon accurate look, and it gives the toy its own identity when compared to the other two Datsun Masterpieces. The deco on this release is simply gorgeous. Smokescreen's rally car deco is faithfully recreated, albeit with new sponsor details (including a reference to Devcon, who made an appearance in "The Gambler", Smokescreen's season 2 spotlight episode). The end result is extremely sharp, and very pleasing if like me you're a fan of Smokescreen. Poseability is the same as the other Datsun Masterpieces and is top-notch. You can get a lot of great poses out of Smokescreen, and the different accessories supplements the display options. He's a first-class release in the Masterpiece series, and a must buy for fans of the character, or those wanting to pick up a high-end, collector-oriented release. Check out our gallery at the link below to see for yourself. Masterpiece Smokescreen Gallery |

By way of online store Urban Collector, we can share with you some larger images of the Transformers Battlemasters Bumblebee, Barricade, Prowl and Starscream figures. These guys look to be Transformers crossed with rock-em sock-em robots. Interestingly the Autobots and Decepticons are being listed as different assortments - whether that means they come in different cases or it's just how this retailer is breaking it down is unclear. Time (and US Toy Fair 2014) will tell.

Third Party group Planet X has confirmed on their Facebook page that they are currently working on making all SIX of the Dinobots, revealing that there will be five more upcoming Dinobot releases alongside their recently released Project X Caelus, revealing art of the six Dinobots from Fall of Cybertron as a teaser.
This announcement reveals they are not only working on making their own interpretation of Fall of Cybertron Grimlock, but are working on Snarl, Slag/Slug/Slog, Sludge and a plesiosaur Dinobot who may or may not be based on Paddles! For those who don't know, Paddles originates from a chapter in the 2004 iBooks release named Transformers Legends in which the gentle Dinobot is dug up from the ground some time after being left for dead by the other Dinobots after Decepticons attacked Dinobot Island. Between Planet X's new reveal and the inclusion of the Dinobots in the upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction film and toyline, it has become clear that 2014 is the beginning of the Year of the Dinobot!
