One of the coolest things about NY Toy Fair is the aftermath which brings us a lot of Press Releases. Now that the cats are out of the bag officially, many companies reveal their product plans for the coming year. One such company is Innovation First. They’ve kept one of their upcoming lines as a secret until New York Toy Fair 2014.
For those who do not know, HexBug robots are self-operated robots (Automatons) who are programmed to duke it out in a small arena. Both Hasbro and Innovation First sent us Press Releases announcing a partnership based on the upcoming movie Transformers: Age Of Extinction: “New partnership with one of the year’s biggest blockbuster movies: “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” in which HEXBUG is bringing the iconic, franchise characters to life for fans of all ages, with the Transformers HEXBUG Warriors & Nano product lines.” Robots from Transformers 4 are said to appear as HexBug robots and they will fight each other in an arena. An images of the product in question was revealed previously via a magazine published for the German Toy Fair. We are yet to see the official product images. The full press release is for their upcoming product lines, but you can check it out after the jump. |

Bleeding Cool News has run an interesting article on a much-loved character from the 1980s, Rom the Space Knight. Rom was a creation of the Parker Brothers, the rights for whom have since passed to Hasbro.
Over the last year, Hasbro has applied for various trademarks on the name Rom, including for a comic book, a "toy capable of converting into other visual toy forms", and a TV show. It is possible that Rom was being planned as a spinoff franchise of Transformers - or a complete entity unto itself, given the existence of a TV show trademark. But then there's the toy trademark - which lines up with the silver Bot Shot (pictured) from Toy Fair 2013. Bleeding Cool notes that their sources indicate something is happening. With the Transformers comics about to go into a soft relaunch post Dark Cybertron, could Rom be about to join the Transformers? Perhaps the Space Knight is going to be revealed to be a Knight of Cybertron - or perhaps that trademark for a toy, intended for a Bot Shot, will get attached to a Botcon exclusive toy in the 2014 set dealing with Knights and Pirates? We're just speculating on the rumor here - join in with your own thoughts at the discuss link below. |

BWTF has posted an interview with Hasbro's Transformers brand team members Jerry Jivoin and Joshua Lamb. In this interview they talk about a few key points, including the whole current trend of simplifying some Transformers toys while aiming others squarely at collectors - the key driver behind this was Josh Lamb driving the question of "will the toys be fun for five year olds to play with", and as Jerry Jivoin points out, previous efforts at finding a solution to please everyone, pleased nobody.
The interview also talks about the process of bringing the Dinobots into the live action movie universe, and reveals the brand team's approach to homages - they do not want to remake the original Transformers of 30 years ago, but give everything a fresh, new approach. This covers not only the Movie continuity, but also the Generations toys. Lastly, good news for those concerned about getting Swerve, Tailgate et al - the assortments may have been underordered by retailers which is why you're not seeing them at retail, but what Hasbro is doing in an effort to get them out there is adjusting the case assortments to make sure they are in future assortments when those later assortments arrive at retail. A similar solution is being looked at for the last Beast Hunters releases - those may eventually see a release as store exclusives (though our UK readers may wish to note, these upscaled Cyberverse Voyagers are now appearing in Tescos stores) Check out the full interview here. |

During a very brief interview with Nerdist, actor Titus Welliver stated that Transformers: Age Of Extinction is not for kids:
How was it for the actor, best known for his roles on The Good Wife and Argo, stepping into the huge Transformers summer movie franchise? “I’ve now won the hard earned respect of my children because I’m in a Transformers film, and I’ve always wanted to work with Michael Bay and certainly Mark Wahlberg and Kelsey Grammer.” And what can fans look forward to in this installment? “It’s a bit more of a darker vision of the Transformers world… It’s not a kids movie, I’ll tell you that much.” |

Hub Network have updated their Youtube page with a new promo video for Transformers Rescue Bots. This promo reveals that when Rescue Bots returns on 1 March 2014, there will be a double bill of new episodes - that's right, two all-new Rescue Bots adventures!
The promotional clip shows off some cool hints of what is coming up. It looks like the Rescue Bots Energize theme was not just "to sell toys" but will actually appear in the series. Check out the new promo video below: |

Hasbro has released more official images and information today - one of the things which they have shared with us is a look at the 2014 Transformers Rescue Bots toys. Rescue Bots 2014 will bring us the main cast of the show in no less than three different forms - Rescan series with new alternate modes, Epic series non-transforming figures, and Dinobot series which will see all of the cast re-imagined as dinosaurs!
A full press release is available - check it out. A quick run-down on what is coming and what is shown here: Rescue Bots Epic Figure Assortment - debuts in Fall 2014, these are 12 inch non-transforming versions of the core four Rescue Bots Heatwave, Boulder, Blades and Chase. Their chests open to let the figures from the 2-packs assortment ride around in their chests. Also debuting in Fall 2014 is a massive 22 inch Epic Optimus Prime "who will make the ultimate command centre for the 2 inch Rescue Bots figures". Rescue Bots Figure 2-Packs - three new sets are shown here, Bumblebee in his black Beast Hunters deco (with mouth!) with Scrapmaster, Cody Burns in his superhero costume with Rescan Heatwave, and Optimus Prime (in blue "Combat Hero Redeco" deco) with the Dino-bot from the show. Collectors wanting to assemble the Burns family, take note that a Dani Burns is on her way in late Spring 2014! Rescue Bots Dino Bots - The Rescue Bots are rocking prehistoric looks in this assortment. There is a large, electronic Optimus Primal and a deluxe Heatwave the Rescue Dinobot along with a Mini Dinos assortment that will feature Heatwave as a Brontosaurus, Blades as a Pterodactyl, Boulder as a Triceratops, and Chase as a Stegosaurus. (Only Heatwave and Blades are shown) Rescue Bots Rescan - The Rescue Bots Rescan series is also shown here, check out high-res images of Bumblebee as a motorbike, Heatwave as a fire-boat, and Optimus Prime as a monster truck. These are slated for a May release (though are out in Ireland now), and a second assortment is planned for Fall 2014 with new figures of Boulder, Blades and Chase, all sporting new alternate modes. |

Toy Fair 2014 is over, but we still have a little more for ya. At the show we try to get the pics up to you as quick as possible so we can talk about the stuff in real time. That means we don't get to mull through our photos and pick out the best, give them a little extra processing love. So, today we present Toy Fair 2014 Redux - Transformers Edition. Attached to this story you will find some of the best shots we took. There is no rhyme or reason, and this post doesn't fully cover all the important things seen at Toy Fair. Just a selection of good photos based on how the shot came out (for the most part). Read on to check the pics. Enjoy!

Over the past few weeks, Zap2It has been updating their website with the titles and descriptions of the new, upcoming Transformers Rescue Bots episodes - complete with new listings recently added for season 2 episodes 5 and 6.
Season 2 episodes 5 and 6 will air on Sunday 30 March according to these listings, rather than the usual Saturday slot, which might be a mistake in the listings. Season 2 episodes 1 and 2 will premiere on Saturday 1 March, with new episodes then airing on the following Saturdays, 8 March and 15 March respectively. The titles - and one line descriptions - go as follows: S02, E01 Road Trip 3/01/2014 Frankie and Doc know the Rescue Bots secret; Cody deals with a teleportation device. S02, E02 Sky Forest 3/01/2014 The friendship between Frankie and Cody is threatened when Frankie enters a contest. S02, E03 One for the Ages 3/08/2014 Cody is turned into a grown-up during an experiment, which compromises his spot on the rescue team. S02, E04 Tip of the Iceberg 3/15/2014 An iceberg brings danger to Griffin Rock. S02, E05 A Virtual Disaster 3/30/2014 The virtual becomes real; Heatwave realizes Blades' potential as a true hero. S02, E06 Spellbound 3/30/2014 The Bots and Burnses are in mind-controlled stupors; Cody scrambles to snap them out of it before he's sucked in. |

Our latest Transformers Generations toy gallery is now online! Available for your enjoyment today is a look at Transformers Generations Autobot Whirl, who has just started to arrive at US retail.
Autobot Whirl is a great release in the Voyager class. He is a very Generation 1-faithful update complete with stickers to reproduce all the Generation 1 stickered details, but if you dislike stickers, he looks perfectly good without them. Articulation is good, Whirl has some excellent movement in his shoulders and elbows. His hips and knees also boast some good articulation but take note that the upper hinge on the silver part of the legs is extremely stiff out of the box. Those who dislike the Movie aesthetic might be disappointed to see that Whirl has “chicken legs”, though they suit the design and are accurate to the More than Meets the Eye comic. Also accurate to the comic is the head design, which is a very pleasing touch. Whirl comes with a small arsenal of weapons including two missile pods, triple barreled machine gun and a Nul-Ray cannon. Each weapon has a selection of posts and C-clip connectors, allowing you to attach them to Whirl’s different modes and arrange his weapons loadout however you desire. Overall Whirl is a nice, fun toy. He has three modes to transform into, including an intermediate “heloped” mode, which itself can be arranged with the robot arms deployed or folded away. The helicopter cockpit opens as well, in another nice tough. He’s out now at retail, and well deserving of a purchase, especially for those who are fans of the More than Meets the Eye comic book where Whirl has a starring role. Take a look at the gallery, linked below, to see for yourself. Generations Autobot Whirl Gallery |

I'm sure you guys remember the Revenge of The Fallen Megatron statue from Prime 1 Studios. That thing is hard to forget for movie fans. And they revealed their finished Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime and still a prototype Bumblebee at the Wonder Festival 2014 this month.
Those were the three pieces of their Museum Masterline series. And there's also a fourth product they teased months ago. And that is the Starscream statue. And now, they just revealed on their Facebook page that, fifth and sixth products of the Masterline series will be from Transformers 4 Age of Extinction! Who will they be? All new Optimus Prime and Bumblebee? Or maybe with a surprise, King Grimlock himself! You can discuss all about it on our boards. And stay tuned to TFW2005 as we bring you the latest news as it happens. |
