2005 Boards member uranusdd has shared with us some nice in-hand pictures of the recently released Masterpiece MP-13B Soundblaster with Ratbat. This Masterpiece set redecos Soundwave in his "new Soundwave" colors from the 1987 Japan-only Headmasters series, complete with optional chest piece to give Soundblaster a show-accurate purple chest, or a toy accurate red one.
The set also includes Ratbat who is a new mold and rounds out the set of Soundwave's six main minions. Like Laserbeak and Buzzsaw, Ratbat manages to integrate the gold engines which were removable accessories on the original toy - a tiny marvel of engineering! |

While we all wait on tenterhooks for the new Masterpiece series releases of Wheeljack and Bumblebee, Takara-Tomy has been releasing some of their existing Masterpiece Transformers in new decos. One of those releases is Masterpiece Lambor G-2 Version, aka Masterpiece Generation 2 Sideswipe.
This toy is one that embodies the spirit of Generation 2 as a whole, and even feels like it stepped out of 90s comics. The toy itself is the legendary "black with red trim" Sideswipe deco, which looks gorgeous and has a fantastic finish. But with this release, Takara-Tomy went the extra mile - they went back to the Generation 2 comic book and gave Sideswipe new accessories based on the comic. The result is a Masterpiece series release who looks as though he jumped off the printed page. The set also comes with an optional sticker sheet to customize your Generation 2 Sideswipe, and give him either toy accurate markings or just a Generation 2 Autobot symbol. Personally I felt the finish on the toy was too good to sticker up, but the stickers are a great little extra that make the toy for me. Overall Lambor G-2 Version / Masterpiece Generation 2 Sideswipe is a fantastic release and a great tribute to the whole Generation 2 era from Takara-Tomy. He's well worth taking a look at if you want to diversify your Masterpiece Transformers collection a bit, or if you just love his so typically 90s action hero look. Be sure to check out our full, extensive gallery for a good look at this release: Masterpiece Sideswipe (Lambor) Generation 2 Version |

The highly anticipated Windblade mini-series is inching closer and closer to its launch date this April! To hold you over until you get your hands on issue #1, here's a new interview with series writer Mairghread Scott and artist Sarah Stone courtesy of The Beat.
The interview does not reveal too much into the series itself, so spoilers are limited but noted just in case you want to go into the series with a blank slate. Instead, the interview is much more of a focus on the creative process, the creators themselves, and the overall theme of the series including who Windblade is as a character. Check out the full interview after the jump! |

Ah Cinemacon… so we meet again! Yes, this is the 2014 Cinemacon week and if you recall last time; back in 2011, the audience was given a demonstration of the technology used to create Transformers: Dark Of The Moon. Not only that, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was also there to comment on behalf of the movie. But it's the outcome that mattered; shortly after the conclusion of 2011 Cinemacon, floodgates were opened to reveal Transformers: Dark Of The Moon as Michael Bay invited journalists to experience an extended tour of what was shown during Cinemacon.
Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we learn that Cinemacon 2014 is ready to give a sneak peek of Transformers: Age Of Extinction": Paramount: Monday, 6:30 p.m. Paramount will be teasing several of its big summer movies, including Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction, which will star Mark Wahlberg. The studio will also preview the live-action/CG pic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Brett Ratner-helmed Hercules. The presentation should feature plenty of talent, including Wahlberg of Transformers, Will Arnett for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dwayne Johnson for Hercules. Christopher Nolan (who is participating in a panel at the convention) should make an appearance to tout his highly anticipated film Interstellar, which hits theaters in November. Of course as we stated before, AOE stars Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz will be there to talk about the movie. Despite the fact that Mr. Reynor and Ms. Peltz will receive awards on 27th, The CinemaCon 2014 is now officially open. While we cannot guarantee we'll hear about Transformers 4 in few hours time, stick with TFW2005 for for the latest development. Update: We have received an official announcement.

Botcon have unveiled their third 2014 convention exclusive, which is sure to please a lot of fans. The third 2014 exclusive is from the "Knight" faction, and is the one and only Devcon, a retooled Generations Scourge with a new head.
This is the first time that the character Devcon will have appeared in toy form. The character was introduced in the 1985 cartoon episode "The Gambler" where he helped the Autobot Smokescreen recover the rest of the Autobots from an alien fighting arena. His brief appearance as an Autobot aligned bounty hunter has afforded him a sort of "Boba Fett" kind of mystique, and he's been included on many lists of "obscure Transformers deserving toys". (Although we say this is the first time that Devcon will get a toy release, a Devcon from Energon Slugslinger was one of many exclusives planned by former license holders 3H for their 2005 convention, but their loss of the license meant this never materialized). |

There is a saying "History has a way of repeating itself". Same can be applied when considering what happened 3 years ago and now. Back in 2011 at the Cinemacon it was revealed that Transformers: Dark Of The Moon will utilize Dolby’s 7.1 Surround Sound System. This time for Transformers: Age Of Extinction, Dolby reveals that the movie will feature their Atmos Surround Sound System. Of course the news doesn’t come as a surprise since Michael Bay himself revealed the fact that he will be using the Dolby Atmos system for Transformers 4 about one year ago.
So, what can we expect from this technology? Here's what Dolby has to say... Benefits of Dolby Atmos
For filmmakers, details matter—a lot. And Dolby Atmos gives filmmakers full creative control over the placement and movement of sound around the audience. This completely new level of artistic freedom enables precise matching of audio to onscreen action. Dialogue follows characters. Sound effects track with camera pans. Ambient sounds envelop you. For the first time, you’ll hear the whole picture. |

TFC Toys continue to churn out their unofficial combiner figures. Today we have updates on two of their current projects. First up courtesy of TFC's Weibo account , our first color prototype pictures of Project Ares' (aka Predaking) Conabus. This unofficial version of Headstrong is shown in robot, rhino and combiner leg mode. Preorders for this figure are not up yet, but the next figure schedules is Phlogeus (aka Rampage), who is supposed to be released this month. Next up is an update on Prometheus, who is an unofficial version of Generation 1 Defensor. Also courtesy of Weibo come images of their unofficial Hot Spot figure in vehicle mode. As you all know, Cinemacon 2014 is happening at the moment and Paramount was the first to show off their upcoming releases. During their one and a half hour long presentation, the company revealed 15 minutes of Transformers: Age Of Extinction footage to the audience which mostly comprised of journalists from various entertainment news websites.
Even though they were not allowed to record the footage, they instead wrote-down what they saw. Our best description of the footage comes from IGN and Cinemablend so far. But we advice those who are sensitive to Spoilers to stay away from the following links. IGN - "Honey, hand me my alien gun." Cinemablend - Transformers: Age Of Extinction CinemaCon Footage Brings Dinosaurs, Explosions And More We'll keep you updated with more info as they happen. Site sponsor and friend Stylin Online has launched a Kickstarter project along with B'lockhouse (aka Josh Blaylock of Devils Due fame) to produce a new artist based T-Shirt line called Artist Alley Tees. They have gotten the project up and running already, with artwork and test runs done (artists paid), but are looking to Kickstarter to see if there is demand for a wider production run.
From the Kickstarter page: ARTIST ALLEY TEES is a simple concept. We pick the comic artists you love, give them some themes that are all the current rage, and set them loose designing their own tees. The initial round of artists include Art Baltazar, K. Lynn Smith, Nei Ruffino, Phil Hester, and Tim Seeley. This isn't like some of the parody / mash up / one a day sites out there. Seems to be more artist focused with larger print runs and available longer, even if limited. Bagging and boarding the shirts is a nice touch too IMO. Check out full details over at Kickstarter, and support if you dig it! |
