Famitsu reports that there is a new Transformers Convoy no Nazo (or Mystery of Convoy) game in the works. It's being developed for iOS and Android, and features the Takara-Tomy Q Transformers Optimus Prime as the main playable character. The original Convoy no Nazo was a Famicom title in Japan released in 1986 known for its crushing difficulty.
There is also some video footage on Youtube by way of Walruslaw, which shows how the game has been reimagined as an "endless runner" i.e. your character is constantly running forwards. The game has also acquired more jumping sections and fewer enemies on screen at a time. The whole thing is controlled by two buttons - jump and transform. The original's music - and gigantic Decepticon symbol boss fight - are both present. Check out the video clip, which is from the recent edition of TV Boy, below: |

Japanese retailer Red Mercury has added a new listing for a Transformers Ultimate Toy Guide 2014 book. From what we can understand from looking at the page through an online translator, this book focuses on the characters and the toys of the Transformers Age of Extinction line, along with the previous three movies. The book will also include something special by way of a history of the line's 30 years. It's due to be released on 8 August - end of the week, in other words!

Our sponsors Robot Kingdom have reported that the next two releases in Takara-Tomy's Transformers Legends line will be TG-06 Gelshark (aka Sky-Byte) and TG-07 Jetfire. The pair are Japanese market releases of the Generations Sky-Byte and Generations Leader class Jetfire, respectively, and they are due to be released in December.
While the initial photos are quite small, it seems as though both releases will sport altered paint jobs for their Japanese outings - Sky-Byte / Gelshark appears to have more silver on his sides in shark mode, and some metallic teal on part of the chest. Jetfire appears to have traded the red chrome on his weapons for regular flat red plastic. Will you pick these up over their US versions? Sound off in the discussion thread linked below. |

Earlier today the Transformers Takara Twitter page tweeted out an awesome image that reveals the throwback packaging of Takara's Legends Rattrap! The box itself seems to be a nod to the Beast Wars packaging released in Japan, which you can see in our resources pages for reference.
Legends Rattrap, also known as Generations Rattrap by Hasbro, is set to be released sometime in October. Check it out after the jump! |

Online retailer Anime-Export has put up a listing for a new run on Kaiyado's Revoltech Movie Optimus Prime. Based on his appearance in Transformers Dark of the Moon, this Optimus balanced a detailed sculpt with frankly an insane amount of poseability. According to the listing, this new run on Optimus Prime comes in "renewed packaging", though there are no pictures of what that might be.

Mech Ideas have just released their Techno Toon Titans Bluster and Trench, aka Animated style Huffer and Pipes. The duo are based on designs created by Derrick J Wyatt for the Transformers Animated show, but never saw official toys from Hasbro. Mech Ideas picked up that baton and ran with making their own take on the Animated style, starting with the duo of Huffer and Pipes - a pair of figures that are not without their flaws, but do manage to capture a lot of the same spirit and style of the Transformers Animated designs.
We've got some in-hand shots of this two pack, which started out as some quick pics to share with you guys and quickly grew into a full gallery of both figures - check them out below! Mech Ideas Bluster / Animated Huffer Mech Ideas Trench / Animated Pipes |

Thanks to the Agabyss Twitter page, we have some larger images of the previously-reported Takara Legends Jetfire and Sky-Byte figures!
These photos confirm our speculation that Sky-Byte is done up in more metallic colors in addition to having a few extra paint apps, and Jetfire has indeed ditched the chrome in favor of flat red, and has also gained back the paint apps that we had seen on the Hasbro version originally back when it was first revealed. Check 'em out after the break! |

Transformers: Lost Age (Japanese movie release of Transformers: Age Of Extinction) is out now in Japan.
Japan Times has published an article today where director Michael Bay explains Autobot Drift and more. "You put a medieval knight in front of the camera and it now looks (a bit) cliched, it looks outdated," Michael Bay says. "But the samurai look, of course we know it’s historical yet it looks so modern." "You look at some of the older Japanese movies with samurai characters in them and you can visualize them as robotic," he says. "They look . . . streamlined, mechanical and practical." The director also talked about the Franchise: "I understand the need to draw an audience of kids and the global considerations, but I wanted to be involved with something that had a longer-lasting, even cerebral appeal. And I don’t want to be tied — artistically or in people’s minds — to ‘Transformers’ after ‘Transformers,’ " Bay says, perhaps alluding to the series’ planned fifth installment. You can read the rest of the article (which is quite lengthy and other cast members chime their views) at Japan Times. |

A user over at the Transformers Addicts Facebook group page posted a couple in-hand images of the upcoming EX Wheeljack. This Wheeljack is a repaint of the cancelled movie All-Stars Wheeljack with a more G1 accurate paint scheme on his hood. Sadly this Wheeljack does not appear to have any weapons, much like Dark Side Soundwave.
Check out of the images after the jump. |

DX9 Toys have updated their Facebook page with some in-hand images of the final version of their Splinter figure. A reworked version of Salmore, Splinter is an unofficial take on Wreck-Gar scaled to a similar size as the Masterpiece Autobots. It's worth noting that he does not include the classic Wreck-Gar axe weapon though. Check out the images and see what you think.

TFC Toys have shown off a downsized version of their first combiner, the not-Devastator Hercules, in pictures of a display shown on their Weibo account. The pictures are small but show a Hercules who is a fraction of the size of the original - one that stands perhaps slightly taller than a limb of the Prometheus combiner.
Exactly what is this guy - and what will it be in scale with? He just might be scaled for the Legends class figures - which seems to be a new thing among third parties along with Masterpiece scale - but will it work for you? Share your thoughts after the break. |

Former lead designer for the Transformers brand, Aaron Archer, has posted an unrealized design for a Megatron toy. This design was kicked around by Archer in 2002 or 2003. Had this become a full realized toy, it may have ended up in the Armada toyline. The design itself features Megatron with several large spikes on his shoulder and ginormous forearms. Archer mentions that he thinks he intended the alternate mode to be a bomber or space shuttle.
Take a look at this incredibly menacing looking Megatron after the break! Aaron Archer will be in attendance at NJCC on August 17th and at TFcon Chicago October 24th-26th. |

The Transformers Collectors Club just posted on their Twitter the new 2015 member exclusive Nova Prime. This figure is a remold of Generations Orion Pax. Nova Prime is going to be released in a convention style box with room to add in your Lio Convoy. No word on pricing yet but that'll come out closer to release during Spring/Summer time next year.
Join the discussion after the break to share your opinion. I for one am eager to grab this figure. |
