Based on Optimus Prime's evasion mode, used to hide from those hunting him in the new movie, this Toys R Us Japan exclusive release recolors Optimus into a cream deco with plentiful "rust" paint applications. The truck mode is extremely effective in this deco! In robot mode, Optimus features a whole lot of white and looks a bit less "grimey" than his normal truck might. There's a new headsculpt used for this version of the toy too - a full on faceplate version of the movie Optimus head is featured here, rather than the "mouth" head of the mass retail releases.

All in all, this release features an excellent take on the truck mode, but we feel the robot mode might be a bit divisive come the finish. Check out the awesome photos that SydneyY has done for us and judge for yourself!

Transformers Music Matrix is a DVD collecting clips of 55 openings and endings across the 30 year history of the franchise. Almost every opening and closing theme is represented - only "Big Bang", the first Japanese intro theme for Transformers Prime, is unrepresented. There are also some bonus additional tracks, alternate versions of the main intros to the original Generation 1 dub, Masterforce, the second intro and ending to Galaxy Force (Ignition and Growing Up, respectively) and Transformers Go. So other than Big Bang, this DVD seems to be a good representation of 30 years of Transformers cartoons. The cover features a montage of all the main Cybertron commanders from Generation 1 through to Zone.

Transformers Song Masterpiece is a similar deal, except as a four disc CD collection collecting the full-length Japanese songs for nearly every single Transformers opening and closing theme. The only absence again is "Big Bang". The cover to this one features Optimus Prime / Convoy in a stoic pose, with the rest of the label strongly inspired by the look of the Masterpiece toy packaging.

Both the CD boxed set and the DVD are due to release in Japan on September 17th - the 30th anniversary to the day of the premiere of the airing of the first Transformers cartoon.
