Call this a rumor for now, but we have received a report from TFW2005 member Deceptigtar that the upcoming Year of the Goat special edition Soundwave will cost $190 when it is released at Toys R Us.
Yes, $190. This information is based on Deceptigtar taking a scan of the UPC of a sample of the Year of the Goat Soundwave which a fellow collector already owned, and scanning it in a Toys R Us store. If you like to collect the Chinese New Year special editions, you may wish to put aside a little extra Transformers money for this one - it sounds as though it will be a bank-breaker - or is this price a deal-breaker? |

The nominations for the 13th annual Visual Effects Awards have been announced, and Transformers: Age of Extinction is among the nominations. Age of Extinction has been nominated for an award for "Outstanding Models in any Motion Media Project" for Lockdown's impressive spacecraft, the Knightship. It is a nomination well deserved, as the Knightship stood out in the movie as an impressive and utterly alien ship, both inside and out.
You can check out the rest of the nominations over at ComingSoon.net. |

The second episode of the Q Transformers web animation has now been released. The five minute episode seems largely to be concerned with the "Mystery of Convoy" game, or rather, its new mobile game update that is being released to coincide with the new Q Transformers line.
Be advised, the video is in Japanese so until someone is kind enough to share a summary we have no idea what Lockdown is talking about... |

Titanic discussion of Titan Devastator have been devastating our boards as of late(in a good way!). Will an upcoming yet to be seen Prowl form an optional head? Is this just a repainted Revenge Of The Fallen Devastator with wrecking balls? A G1 reissue marked up like the recent Platinum Insecticons at Kmart?
No official word, yet, on what Titan Devastator will be but catz has come through with information! Not just for Titan Devastator but for more G1 Platinum reissues! Note: some of the sets listed were seen recently such as the Insecticons and Conehead Seeker trio. Here's what catz' supplier relayed: "Just got great news(referring to Titan Devastator) from my supplier: - All new mold - Awesome - Huge - Box are metroplex sized - Combination of voyagers and 1 leader (the number of bots inside the box are not confirmed yet - sorry for the mess) - green - sdcc will be yellow Also G1 box set: - Blaster - perceptor - Insecticon - Trypticon - g1 cone head set" |

It's been a while since we've heard about this one, but FansProject have today released a new image of their unofficial Quickswitch, confirming that it has an intended release date of January - that's this month!
Named M.A.D.L.A.W., this figure is being branded as a "Function XV" figure. The name is an acronym of the names of the figure's six modes, and may alternately be named "Master V" after the name of the robot mode. He is now up for preorder at our sponsors - with thanks to TFSource for sending us the tip on this one. TFSource FansProject Function XV MADLAW preorders |

TFW2005 boards member Icespark has once again informed us of a possible upcoming Transformers product. From a computer listing at Toys 'R' Us, it seems we may be getting a figure of Megatronus - retailing for $29.99. We have no details other than that as of yet, and no photos either. Might this be related to the Robots in Disguise show?

Up next is our gallery of the Combiner Wars Powerglide! A Legends class figure from the new Generations assortment, he just oozes personality and has a great look which is at once very faithful to the Generation 1 cartoon robot mode and an updated version of the vehicle mode. Powerglide is a great little figure. He's got all the right articulation, lacking only elbow swivels, and has the bonus of a third weapon mode which can be wielded by any Transformer with a 5mm fist, such as the larger Combiner Wars figures and the massive combined robots. One of the best in this new Legends class assortment, and very much deserving of a place in any Classics collection. Check out his gallery and see what you think: Combiner Wars Legends Powerglide Gallery |

Rovio have posted a new VHS style trailer for their Angry Birds Transformers. This clip is entitled "Deceptihogs Revenge" and features new retro 80s style animation.
Perhaps of more interest - based on the in-game footage in this update, it looks like this is going to be the wider release of the most recent updates to the games - hopefully for iOS now as well. Check out the trailer below: |

Via Rihappy we have a look at the next assortment of Angry Birds Transformers two-packs, which seems to consist solely of one set - Jazz VS Brawl! You might find this Jazz a little odd since he lacks the visor he sports in the Angry Birds Transformers game, but on the other hand, IDW also draw him visor-less in the Angry Birds Transformers comic.
Both figures in the set are retools / redecos of earlier releases - Jazz is a remolded Soundwave with a new head, while Brawl is a redeco of Bludgeon / Megatron. The set also features new branding as "Deceptihogs Revenge", tying in to the new update we posted information on yesterday. Check out the new images attached to this post. |

The newly-formed 3rd party garage kit company, GCI, has been hard at work for some additional weapons for the recently released Mastermind Creations Fembots. This limited-run set of swords, named "Aster Blades," not only fit any standard 5mm port, but they also actually glow! The swords are priced at $24.99 for each pair, and have a limited release. You can click this news story for a detailed overview by GCI lead, TFW2005.COM's own Dr. Killinger and also in the ongoing discussion thread.
In addition to this product announcement, TFW2005.COM member autotronprime has given us a brief "behind the scenes" look at creating and designing things in SolidWorks, a 3D CAD modeling program. autotronprime shares in the video different details about design and the rationale behind some of the design choices. You can watch the video after the jump! Be sure to keep up with all of the plethora of third party items in our Third Party Discussion Forum. Perhaps this productand the video inspire you to design you own work? You can get a good grasp on some design renders that our TFW2005.COM Fan Artists design in our Fan Art forums and get some tips in our Tutorials section! On occasion, artists will show off prototypes in Radicons Customs as well! Perhaps YOU could be the next designer for an unofficial - or even official - project someday! |

Back when Combiner Wars was first announced, it was said by Hasbro that the figures would continue to include the IDW comics, as was the case in the previous Thrilling 30 line. However, many fans were baffled to find that the first wave of Combiner Wars figures not only lacked the comics, but also had multilingual packaging.
Fortunately, it looks like that may not be the case for wave 2. TFW2005 boards member Nevermore has uncovered some new images of the figures, which both include the Combiner Wars comics and lack the previous multilingual packaging. You can pre-order you Combiner Wars wave 2 figures here at site sponsor BigBadToyStore! |

Our sponsors HLJ have sent us some new images of the Takara-Tomy Legends LG-13 Megatron, along with some details concerning the preorders. You can check out the images attached to this post - you might want to use caution as it has been noted these images carry a disclaimer to the effect of "product not final".
The update to the preorder details, is that preorders for Legends Megatron will have a cut-off date and that date is 25 January 2015 - so you have ten days to get those preorders in! HLJ's preorder for Legends Megatron can be found here: Hobby Link Japan Transformers Legends LG-13 Megatron preorder Additionally HLJ also wanted to let us know that preorders for a rerelease of the super-popular MP-10 Masterpiece Convoy are now available. This toy needs no introduction - it is the definitive high-end reimagining of the Optimus Prime who graced our TV screens in the 1980s, a release that perfectly encapsulates the character and is the definition of what it means to be a Masterpiece Transformer. Via Italian marketplace site Terminal Video Italia, we have a look at a transformation scheme for what we think might be a Three Step Changer Robots in Disguise Sideswipe.
The image comes from a listing for the Warrior class toys assortment, but the image shows a Sideswipe that transforms in three distinct and easy steps. Hence it seems to be showing us that a Three Step Changer Sideswipe has at the very least been designed as a concept, or more likely will be coming in a future assortment - we'd imagine it will be coming in Three Step Changers Wave 3. One to watch for more information - it is entirely likely that the upcoming US Toy Fair will reveal all! |

Following on from the previous Fan Built Bot Poll which resulted in the creation of the Windblade character, Hasbro has put out a new press release announcing a new poll for the fans - and this time, it's for a fully-fledged combiner! That's right, voting in the Fan Built Combiner Poll will, in the end, result in a team of original characters that will come together to create a new, original combiner character for the Generations Combiner Wars line.
The dates have yet to be announced but soon, the Transformers: Age of Extinction app will be updated into the official Transformers brand app. This is where voting will be done, rather than on their website like last time. Each round will last one week, and then afterwards, the results of the round will be shared, and a new round will begin. There will be three rounds of question in total. A full reveal of the Fan Built Combiner is expected to come later this year, with the combiner character being made available as a toy in 2016. The components will be compatible with the other Combiner Wars toys, so yes, you will be able to mix-and-match. Unfortunately, there is no word yet if the combiner will appear in the IDW comics, but it seems like a fair bet. Read all about it after the break! |

After a bit of concern of release of MP-23 Exhaust in North America we finally have an update on the figure. Back in November we reported about Exhaust's paint job that conflicted with Marlboro & Phillip Morris USA's trademark. Takara has now updated the deco with a slightly different design on the hood to not clash with the trademark.
