Our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store have added some more new product listings - including a heretofore unseen Robots in Disguise Legion class Wave 5! Legion Wave 5 has two new toys, both expected to be repaints of existing toys - the first is Patrol Strongarm, almost certainly a redeco of the initial Legion class Strongarm. The second is Ultra Magnus, potentially a Legion Optimus Prime redeco. We've probably seen both of these toys previously in the Robots in Disguise app, and it is looking increasingly likely that other future releases were also teased in the app - check out my fellow newsie SilverOptimus' writeups for some possible insight.

Well folks, it looks like the long-awaited Age of Extinction Power Battlers Wave 4 is finally making it to Ross in its entirety. We reported yesterday that the Vehicon from the assortment had been found in at least one Ross store, and acting on that tip, TFW2005 member Optimus Clyde found a couple of High Octane Bumblebee from the Power Battlers series at two different Ross stores in Dallas, TX. He also reports a further sighting of the Vehicon.
At this point, given the way the waves were worked for these toys, it seems most probable that the third member of AoE Power Battlers Wave 4, Junkheap the garbage truck Decepticon, is also out in the wild. Happy hunting, one and all! |

Confirming rumors that were floating around the Internet last week, two female writers are brought in for the upcoming Transformers Cinematic Universe. Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer are both in the Writers Room along with several other Writers (Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Zak Penn and Jeff Pinkner lead by Akiva Goldsman).
Deadline has the scoop: "Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay have added the first two female screenwriters to the brain trust of writers who’ll hatch Transformers sequels, prequels and spinoffs under the supervision of Akiva Goldsman. Christina Hodson and Lindsey Beer have both joined the group that will help craft ideas to expand the universe of the Hasbro toy line, then go off and write them." |

Thanks to Comicosity, we have a great preview for Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #7! In this issue: Scarlett wakes up to a reality where G.I. Joe is a toyline and Cybertron was just a way for a toy company to create a narrative to tie together a bunch of unrelated robot toys. What's going on?

A few weeks back, we shared official images of the upcoming Unite Warriors Deluxe Groove figure. A new photo, shared by TF Yuki, gives us another look at the figure. The new pic of TakaraTomy's UW-03 Groove gives fans a good idea of how articulated the figure will be. The figure is up now on the TakaraTomy Mall, which lists the figure for a November 28th release.

We've got a great new gallery of a toy from the Age of Extinction line that never left Japan to share with you! Courtesy of TFW2005 member Russian fan, we have a look at AD-31 Armor Knight Optimus Prime.
Armor Knight Optimus Prime is to the regular Age of Extinction Leader Optimus Prime what Buster Optimus Prime was to the Revenge of the Fallen Leader Optimus Prime - a toy that takes the base Leader toy we got at mass retail and then improves on it, with remolded elements, new accessories, and a premium level of paint to become the definitive version. For Armor Knight Optimus Prime, this meant a lot of remolding including the chest, arms and head, the latter of which was also reworked to include a gimmick to allow Optimus' face to switch from a faceplate head to an unmasked one. The paint is also a step up and really helps to put this one over. If you've not got a toy of this new Movie Optimus Prime, right now, this is the definitive item. Check out Russian Fan's photos of this gorgeous piece at the link below, including some shots of the toy with the Beelzeboss die-cast Sword of Justice - I'm told that the weight of metal does unfortunately make it hard for the toy to hold, but it looks truly boss in the robot's hands. Transformers Prime may have ended and yielded the torch to Robots in Disguise, but Shout! Factory is keeping the fire alive with a new compilation DVD called Ultimate Decepticons. Ultimate Decepticons is coming in September 2015 in the US and Canada priced at $9.99, and it features five episodes drawn from across all three seasons of Transformers Prime. Those five episodes are, Masters And Students, Con Job, Crossfire, Prey, and Thirst. Also check out the cover art, which features the one and only Megatron, attached to this post.

The Combiner Wars news continues to rush in! This time, we have box artwork to what appears to be a package of three fembots - Arcee, Chromia, and Windblade! This image comes to us courtesy of TFND's Facebook page, and thanks to TFW2005.COM member Slimaximus for pointing us all to it.
The artwork suggests a few things to us. The reflection of Devastator in Arcee's meelee weapon and the fact that this is a boxed set may be an indication that this set will be a San Diego Comic Con exclusive, as the sets could be made to "face off" with each other. There are several notable details that suggest additional paint applications (such as the Autobot faction symbol on Arcee's face) that could indicate a "Premium" type of release, which would also be consistent with a SDCC exclusive release. Is this something you're excited about? Be sure to join into the ongoing discussion to share your thoughts with us after the jump! |

Although some fans may find this particular set redundant with the Combiner Wars Protectobots being in collector's hands now, the Emergency Response set is still a worthy pick up if you're a fan of the molds or the Protectobots in general. So good news for those still in the hunt, the three pack of this team featuring Streetsmart (Streetwise), Groove, and First Aid has been found at the retail store Ross! Thanks to TFW2005 member Tranzilla who first spotted this set at Ross in Columbia, Maryland.
If this set it for you, happy hunting! |

The 3rd Party Dinobot wars continue! However this set will have a twist as Iron Factory has revealed they will be a producing a set of Legends sized "War Within" Dinobots. These figures will be based off of the designs of the Dreamwave 2nd Volume of The War Within. In the comic, the "Dynobots" are part of a strike force called the Lightning Strike Coalition. No word just yet on an expected release date, but Iron Factory have been producing some fantastic stuff as of late, so this is a project to keep your eyes on!

CBR has posted an interview with Transformers: Robots in Disguise Head Writer & Producer Adam Beechen regarding the inception of the series and the future.
"Bumblebee has always been extremely popular, but at the same time he’s always been the supporting character" says Mr. Beechen. "After three decades focused solely on Optimus, really, it was just time to explore some other areas. That’s not to say that Optimus isn’t a part of our show. As you’ve seen, he is. But there’s a lot of fun to be had with a character like Bumblebee who’s getting a chance to lead for the first time and be his own Bot. What does that mean? How does he adjust to not having Optimus around to direct him all the time?" Is it liberating as a showrunner when you work with a company like Hasbro and you have a guaranteed order for a long run on the series? "It doesn’t so much change your approach, but you know how many episodes you have, so you pace out the story you’re telling accordingly. Typically what happens in a situation like this is that at the start of the season you sit down with the brand team and find out what their plans are in terms of the upcoming seasons – as in calendar seasons – for what toys they’re releasing when and what kind of story elements they’d like to see in the upcoming episodes. You have that meeting and plan out episodes according to that, but doing so in a way that tells the best possible stories. You’re not just cramming toys in there. You want to tell a cool story and help with what they’re doing as well. And it just runs from there. It’s pretty rare that a brand will come back to you in the middle of your season and say, “By the way, we’ve come up with a new figure that will be on the shelves of the toy stores tomorrow. Get it into the next episode!” There’s not any time for things like that. So after that initial meeting, you’re well aware of what you want to do over the course of the season and how to make everyone happy. From there, you’re free to tell the coolest stories you can." You can read the full interview at Comic Book Resources. |

Apple's iBooks site has updated with a brief three page preview of the final part of the Combiner Wars arc, which takes place in next week's Transformers Windblade #3! It's a full-on battle between five mighty combiners - Superion, Defensor, Devastator, Menasor, and... well, that would be telling!
There's two art styles at work in this preview, with the Combiner sequences being done by Marcelo Ferreira and the sequences played out by "normal sized" giant robots by Corin Howell - both bring their own style to the book, and they create an interesting but not displeasing juxtaposition. Check out the preview, then be sure to pick up the full issue next Wednesday, June 10th, for the galaxy-shaking finale! |
