For our next Transformers toy gallery, we bring you a look at the Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord, Ultra Magnus! The new Generations Ultra Magnus is based on the IDW design of the character featured in More than Meets the Eye, which lends him a nicely stylized look, as well as a new little guy within the armor - white Optimus Prime is out, and Minimus Ambus is in!
While no more perfect than any other mass retail, non-Masterpiece Transformer, this Leader class offering gives us a whole lot of nice and cool things. The foremost is Minimus Ambus, a Mini-Con sized partner figure who clips into the chest of Ultra Magnus in robot mode to "wear" the Magnus armor. The weapons - a pair of missile pods and a pair of rifles - can be used individually to arm Magnus, or combined into a large hammer in homage of Transformers Animated Ultra Magnus' signature hammer. To top it all off, Ultra Magnus sports a good range of articulation and nice big feet to help him hold some solid action poses, though ankle tilts would certainly have been welcomed. Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus is one of the best offerings to come from Hasbro in a line crammed full of great releases. As well as finally giving us a true Classics Ultra Magnus, we get one with the sharp look of the current IDW comic design, which looks amazing as a display piece and is every bit as fun to pick up and play with. We have over 200 photos of this one to share with you - check them out at the link below: Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus with Minimus Ambus Gallery |

Via Jedi Temple Archives, we have learned that among other items, the Hasbro version of Masterpiece Bluestreak is set to debut at the San Diego Comic Con 2015, this July. He'll be sold at the Toys R Us booth at the show, which is a part of the Entertainment Earth booth.
However, fans may wish to take note that other than the con, the only way this piece appears to be available, according to Jedi Temple's information, is as an online exclusive - they are saying that Masterpiece Bluestreak will not be available in store. This would be a turn-up for the books, given all previous Masterpieces have been mass-retail releases at brick-and-mortar. Time will tell if this truly comes to pass - and if it may be a harbinger of more Transformers exclusives being offered as online exclusives, or the Masterpiece line moving to online exclusivity VS chain retail exclusivity in the US. |

Maketoys announced on twitter the next figure in their RE:Master Series will be MTRM-04 Iron Will, Masterpiece inspired G1 Headmaster Hardhead. The figure stands at about 23 cm (just over 9 inches) tall, and it appears to feature a fully transformable headmaster, as well as rubber treads and rotating turret in vehicle mode.
Along with their early preorder alert of their MTRM-01 Cupola figure, Maketoys appear to be going full force with their RE:Master Series. What are your thoughts of this figure? Check out the images and let us know on the boards! |

Spotted by TFW2005 user almightymaximus, we have here our first pictures of two limited edition Funko Transformers Hikari Vinyl pieces. These indeed do seem to be new colors with Bumblebee sporting an icy white to blue look, and Optimus Prime sporting a more fiery look that transitions from white to a fiery orange-red lending to a dynamic juxtaposition when the two are next to each other. These pieces were found at a Barnes and Nobles in Connecticut, so be on the look out everyone and let us know what you think!

Forbes Magazine is bringing news on Paramount's Transformers' story room, that at least 12 movies will be penned for the Transformers Cinematic Universe.
Monday, June 8th is the first official day of operations at Paramount’s Transformers’ story room, where almost a dozen writers will steep their collective heads in franchise lore before churning out the next decades worth of stories for movies and television. "We've got a work space that is beautifully production designed to be immersive with a strong sense of the franchise history…We will look at the toys, the TV shows, the merchandise, everything that has been generated by Hasbro, from popular to forgotten iterations, and establish a mythological time line. It has been designed with a lot of visual help, toys, robots, sketches and writers and artists. After that super saturation, the writers will figure out not one, but numerous films that will extend the universe." "All of the writers will come away with this exercise with a movie treatment to write, including Goldsman. Those writers will then have first crack at writing the scripts for treatment that meet the approval of Paramount, Bay, [Steven] Spielberg, Hasbro and the producers." If Goldsman is also making a treatment to add to the pile made by his 11 writers, that’s a total of 12 new Transformers movies that will be pitched to Paramount in the first round, and all of them will be capable of interconnecting with each other. There’s no telling how many of the pitches will be green-lit or how many stories will be kicked down to Transformers TV or video games, but the amount of output expected is impressive. You can read the full report at Forbes. |

Every year when SDCC is just around the corner, there is another main Event which Hasbro and Paramount participates. That event is the Licensing Expo.
Unlike the other events, Licensing Expo is kept away from the public and is mostly for the Investors. But we've had plenty of leaks from the expo grounds before. In the past there were leaked Transformers Movie Teaser Posters, toys and many other things. Hasbro is there this year with Transformers content too. "Licensing Expo is a tent pole event in our annual entertainment and licensing plan that provides a terrific platform to*showcase Hasbro’s storied portfolio of lifestyle brands including Transformers, My Little Pony, Nerf, Jem and more, to key players in the industry," says Simon Waters, general manager, senior vice president, entertainment and licensing, Hasbro. "We’re delighted this year to spotlight the new and innovative programs, relationships and products that bring our properties to life, from immersive storytelling and engaging content to merchandise at a wide range of retail channels, from drug and value all the way through to high-end fashion." New business partnerships for this year:
"In China, TRANSFORMERS fans can fuel up with branded gas cards distributed through CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation), which operates more than 20,000 gas service stations throughout the country. Acclaimed German designer Philipp Plein debuts eye-catching, high fashion TRANSFORMERS branded shirts for men at Philipp Plein luxury stores worldwide, bringing the iconic AUTOBOTS characters into a fresh new fashion dimension." We also have with us a small leaflet by Hasbro, letting us know of their presence at the Expo. You can check it out, after the jump. |

Following the Licensing Expo 2015 news, Star designer Philipp Plein has sent us a Press Release detailing the new partnership with Hasbro's Transformers Franchise.
"TRANSFORMERS, as one of Hasbro‘s most iconic franchises of this century, cars, airplanes and helicopters instantly turn into action heroes. In the everlasting battle between good and evil, the AUTOBOTS are on a mission to rescue the world from the DECEPTICONS. The fascination of the TRANSFORMERS brand, brought to life through animated series, comics, toys and movie theater heroes, are now expanding with a unique TRANSFORMERS brand fashion collection. This collection was designed by top designer, Philipp Plein, and under License by Hasbro, and will be offering TRANSFORMERS branded shirts for men at his luxury stores starting in the second half of June. As the rockstar among German fashion designers, Phillip Plein, who is known from his presence at Fashion Week in Milan, is predestined to bring the TRANSFORMERS brand into the fashion and lifestyle world. For the designer, the TRANSFORMERS branded men´s pre-fall 2015 collection embodies the spirit of the action hero. He combines eccentric materials with great attention to detail and extravagant applications. The OPTIMUS PRIME character T-Shirt is definitely one of the collection’s eye-catchers. The powerful leader of the AUTOBOTS shines in an edition that features glittering strass stones in various black, gray and silver shades against either a white or black background." Deadline has posted a brief article naming the final writer of Akiva Goldsman's writer's room to brainstorm story ideas for the Transformers Cinematic Universe. The final member of the writer's room will be Steven DeKnight, who created Spartacus on Starz and worked on Marvel's Daredevil television series. It will be interesting to see what ideas DeKnight and his colleagues bring to the table.

Word reaches us from the Transformers Collectors Europe group that a gentleman named David Polwarth has had the conclusive final word on the fate of Combiner Wars Deluxe Wave 2 in Europe.
According to the response to an email sent to Hasbro UK, the assortment is not making it to Europe as Hasbro's EU branches "could not meet quantity targets". Whether this means there were not enough units available to supply, or stores did not place enough orders during the wave's production window is not clear. Our commiserations to our European readers, with Dragstrip-armed Superions. |

Via the Planet Iacon Facebook Group we have a look at a collector coin which will accompany the release of Unite Warriors Superion in Asia. The coin comes packaged in a cardboard envelope designed to resemble Superion's chest. Interestingly, its subtitled as Masterpiece, but we think this is a goof. Check out some images attached to this post.

The BotCon Facebook page updated earlier today with pricing information for the attendee exclusive figures. Continue on for the full update and start speculating about which figures we're going to be seeing at the show starting to June 18th in St. Charles, Illinois.
BotCon 2015 Souvenir pricing! We are happy to announce that this years souvenir pricing is almost exactly the same as last year (It went up by $1!) The big news though is that instead of an overall offering of 7 figures and a Kre-O figure pack to choose from, this years total souvenir set offerings includes 8 figures and a Kre-O pack. So you are getting one more deluxe sized exclusive than last year, all for essentially the same price! The pricing is as follows: Souvenir Set 1 (2 pack) - $89 Souvenir Set 2 (2 pack) - $79 Souvenir Set 3 (4 pack) - $169 Kre-O Souvenir Set (6 pack) - $29 We are looking forward sharing with everyone the souvenir figure reveals next week. See you all at BotCon 2015! |

Here we can see the figure boxed, and in robot and vehicle modes as well as a comparrison between it and Transformers Animated Blazing Lockdown. All in all, this figure seems to sport a very impressive scheme and alot of paint apps, including a big old Decepticon symbol painted across the mans chest, making him look like a true patriot of the Decepticon Cause! Tell us everyone, do you support the Decepticon cause too? Or are you a part of the oppressive Autobot regime?

You'll probably be wondering why there is a business news doing on the front page of a site about toys. Well, that's because this news does indeed affect our hobby to a certain extent.
Hasbro has incorporated a new solution to streamline and centralize its product development which includes Transformers. Benefits include improved quality, reduced material costs and faster product launches. "Our consumers are at the heart of everything that we do, and we’ve been successful in delivering compelling and engaging experiences by listening to our consumers,” said John Frascotti, President, Hasbro Brands. “In order to both minimize product’s time to market and increase our team’s productivity and focus on innovation, we needed an efficient way to manage the planning, design, and delivery of all of our consumer products. We found the ideal solution with PTC’s Windchill FlexPLM platform." Check out the full Press Release, after the jump. |
