Each year at the the BotCon Transformers Hall of Fame ceremony we are treated to quite the spectacle. Honoring some of our favorite characters with choice video clips and music. It's a fun time for everyone.
There is of course another component to the Hall of Fame ceremony, and that is the induction of real people who have worked on and helped mold the Transformers brand into what it is today. 2010 saw the induction of Peter Cullen, Bob Budiansky, Yoke Hideaki, and Kojin Ohno. In 2011 Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay were inducted for their contributions to the brand thanks to the film franchise. Now this year two more legends have been picked from their work on Transformers to join them as the 2012 class of the Transformers Hall of Fame. Simon Furman and Chris Latta, two names that all Transformers fans know, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at this year's BotCon event in Dallas. Chris Latta's family will be on hand to accept the award on his behalf. To view the announcement from Hasbro you can click here: Upcoming Human inductees in the 2012 TRANSFORMERS Hall of Fame |

Planet Iacon on Facebook has shared some further images of the Xovergen Trailerforce unofficial custom armor for Classics Optimus Prime. These new images showcase the prototype in vehicle mode, and also reveal that in true Powermaster style the Trailerforce will come with a small Powermaster / Godmaster partner which can transform into an engine and attach to the front of Classics Optimus Prime in vehicle mode. The Trailerforce is also compatible with the original Powermaster Optimus Prime cab figure.

Transformers Galaxy on Facebook has shared some new images of the Botcon 2012 exclusive Octopunch. Octopunch, a redeco of Hunt for the Decepticons Sea Spray, is a Classics / Shattered Glass hybrid, only one Decepticon symbol sticker away from being a full on Classics take on this member of the Mayhem Attack Squad. He's patterned after his Pretender shell rather than his inner robot, and he will potentially be a good fit with the Classics-type updates of his fellow Pretenders Bludgeon, Thunderwing and Skullgrin.

So I was browsing the boards this morning when I saw that 2005 Boards member CodeXCDM had shared this Lego Transformers X Nintendo crossover someone had designed and I felt it was too cool not to share!
Based on the classic Nintendo Gameboy, this fan-designed Lego Transformer transforms into Soundwave! Just like the original Soundwave, he has cassettes - they are the game cartridges! And like the original, the weapons form up out of the batteries. The creation is officially named "Domaster and Tetrawing", and is the creation of Lego creator Julius von Brunk, who you might know of already for recreating the Super Mario Bros. 3 airship in Lego. Check out more of his work here. This slice of cool and fun news comes to you via Gizmodo. |

To go along with our previous news update from yesterday, we now have new images of the next product from Xovergen. The Trailerforce-01 is a new trailer upgrade kit for Classics Optimus Prime and G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime. These images reflect the combined mode of the trailer with both Optimus figures. It also gives a back view showing exactly how Classics Prime will attach. There is also a side by side comparison of the Trailerforce-01 robot mode standing next to Classics Optimus which gives a good sense of the size of this massive new project.
Check out all the new images, courtesy of Planet Iacon on Facebook, by clicking the title bar. |

Plethora of images and some Gameplay Footage has surfaced online for the upcoming Asian Market MMORPG Transformers: Evolution.
Produced by Net Dragon, this Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game will definitely be an instant success due to the popular fandom for games of such genre & Transformers Franchise, on the Asian region. Set in the Transformers: Primeverse, this game sports some impressive graphics and gameplay (for a game of this category), judging by the revealed footage. The players will be able to pit against colossal Cybertronians such as Bruticus and Defensor. For those who cannot read Chinese, here’s a brief synopsis of the backstory, translated for your reading pleasure. “The brutal civil war of Planet Cybertron came to Tiger Pax. It was here, the main power source of the planet was jettisoned to the stars; The Cube is gone. To eliminate Optimus Prime & the Autobots who took refuge on Earth once-and-for-all, Megatron opened a Spacebridge and pushed the floating city towards the blue planet. Tiger Pax broke into two pieces; while one orbited around the Earth, the other half fell to the sea. Only Government Agencies and handful of humans knew of the existence of Transformers and Tiger Pax. To make matters worse, a Third Faction hunts Autobots and Decepticons alike and sought after the scattered remains of Cybertron.” The game boasts numerous weapons including Star Steel Blade, Dead Star Turbine, Doomwalker, Black Hole Contract (which utilize energy from Black Holes*), Light Trajectory Gun, Thunder Track Gun, Chaos Star Wheel (The one Bumblebee is holding on an image) *Using the energy of Black Holes is illegal in Cybertron. But “desperate times call for desperate measures”. To learn more about Transformers: Evolution, visit the Official Website. |

This past weekend, the new Transformers Prime episode Operation Bumblebee told a story of how the Autobot Bumblebee was defeated by MECH, who forged an alliance with Starscream. How appropriate then that recently released in Asia is a new Transformers Prime two-pack featuring all these characters!
With his grip on power weakening, Megatron finds himself vulnerable for the first time. Starscream is there to take advantage of it. But with leadership within his reach, Starscream must still deal with Bumblebee and the Autobots - a truly tough opponent to overcome. The Ultimate Opponents set consists of redecos of First Edition Bumblebee and Starscream - Bumblebee now sports a more orangey plastic and some blue stripes which fade to black along the length of his bodywork, while Starscream is redecoed with purple highlights which you could consider to be "Dark Energon" - after all, Starscream has made use of it in the past. The set also includes PVC figures of human villains Silas and a MECH Trooper, plus a DVD featuring the episodes Convoy, Sick Mind and Out of his Head - MECH's debut episode, and a Bumblebee focus two-part episode with a lot of Starscream screentime. Overall, it is a fun set, great if you missed the First Edition toys last time out, or if you are a fan of redecos or VS sets. The set is already out in Asia, and it is also slated for a potential Canadian release. Click the links below and check out our gallery! Stay tuned for more Transformers Prime toy goodness! The Transformers Botcon 2012 homepage has updated with the final two pages of the six page preview comic to this year's Transformers Invasion. These final two pages quickly resolve the battle sequence chronicled in the first four pages and set up the story of the boxed set comic, ending in a cameo of a veritable legion of Primes and Matrix Bearers, including Sentinel Maximus and Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, both of whom were last seen in the club comic's Balancing Act story arc having crossed over to there from 3H's Transformers Universe comics. There's also some rather pleasing cameos by a few other characters in the epic final panel.
Check out the whole story at the Botcon homepage. |

Playworksonline.com had the oppurtunity to catch up with Takara's lead designer, Hideaki Yoke, at Cybertron Con and were able to sit down with him for an interview. For those that are unaware, Mr. Yoke has been working on the brand even before it became known as the Transformers. In the interview he discusses why the play pattern of Transformers is so popular, how the designers go about creating our favorite characters and why he thinks the brand will be something us fans we'll be telling our grand children about.

Planet Iacon has updated their Facebook photo album with new pictures from Singapore's Cybertron Con. These new images give us some detailed images of Takara's Transformers Prime Arms Micron figures. These figures are the same as the current Transformers Prime toys in stores except they come with new Takara only Micron figures and molded Micron ports. Did I mention that the Microns resemble various Transformers and turn into ridiculously cool weaponry?
We've mirrored the images here. To check them out, click the title bar or you can visit the link above. You can also check out a large amount of pictures of some very impressive movie customs that were on display at the convention as well. |

We have received reports that the second assortment of Transformers Prime Cyberverse Legion toys has been released in Singapore. This assortment blends Movie and Prime characters in a best of both worlds approach.
On the Prime side of things, there is the addition of Breakdown to the Cyberverse series. On the Movieverse side of things, we have Evac from Transformers the Ride, the first transformable toy of Movie Mirage to date - he's a redeco of Revenge of the Fallen Legends Sideways, though - and a blue redeco of Dark of the Moon Cyberverse Soundwave. Hopefully the Singapore sighting means these are also creeping into US warehouses and will put in an appearance at US retail very soon. In the mean time, read on to check out these in-hand pictures by 2005 Boards member Gunshot! |

A quick note to our fans regarding an issue that has been lingering around for a while. This year dealers who signed up for Botcon realized there was some new wording in the contracts related to unofficial product and how it will be handled at the show. The wording is as follows:
Basically - as a dealer, if you bring 3rd party, knock offs, or any other kind of unlicensed product to the show, Hasbro and/or Botcon can take it and throw you out."Promoter and its designees, including Hasbro, Inc., each reserves the right to ban or deny display of any item for any reason. Promoter and its designees, including Hasbro, Inc., each reserves the right to confiscate any items that violates these rules and regulations. Exhibitor agrees to permit such confiscation without incident and agrees that all confiscated items shall become the property of Promoter or its designee and may be turned over to the appropriate authorities. Exhibitor herby [sic] waives and all claims against the Promotor [sic] or Hasbro, Inc. with respect to any removal of person or confiscation of items." This was very loose and could mean different things to different people, and several board members pushed for more clarification. A Botcon representative posted a note stating the following: And then clarified it further with this:From our understanding, just want to reiterate what you have gotten in email responses from us... So, it looks like there is a hard push to keep 3rd party and unlicensed toys / product out of the dealer room and the convention as a whole this year. We thought you guys should know and plan accordingly.I am afraid that details will not be provided. There are SO many 3rd party items, no one is going to provide a list of what is acceptable "unlicensed" toys. |
