2005 Boards member Juise has shared with us in-package images of the upcoming Transformers Prime Beast Hunters series. The packaging is sadly doing away with individual character art instead going for a single shot of Predaking in dragon mode. Notably we are also seeing more toys packaged in robot mode in this series - your mileage may vary on how welcome an addition that is.
Check out all the packaging photos after the jump for the Deluxe, Cyberverse Legion and Cyberverse Commander figures. As a bonus, Juise has also shared with us the product description with a one-line bio for new Evil Predacon, Laserback: Chaotic Predacon rebel whose only goal is to scour the Earth clean of the Autobots®*! Autobots beware, because this Lazerback figure is looking for a fight! This powerful robot comes with a missile-firing Toxic Strike Blaster that launches major destruction at the Autobots! When the battle calls for beast power, convert him to dragon mode, where his tail becomes a deadly whip. Keep converting him back and forth so his Autobot enemies can’t keep up! |

By way of a Japanese image board we have a look at some scans from the December edition Japanese hobby magazines. The December 2012 releases from Takara-Tomy are showcased herein including the first two releases from the Transformers Generations 2012 series (Optimus Prime and Autobot Jazz) plus the next three releases from the Transformers Prime Arms Micron series (Shockwave, Leo Prime and Ultra Magnus). There's also a look at the Japanese release of Bot Shots - known as Becool - and the two Transformers GT releases, GT Prime and GT Saber, shown here in robot mode albeit in a small picture.
The big news though is we also have our first look at the Yodobashi Camera exclusive release Dark Guard Optimus Prime. All those who were disappointed that Arms Micron Nemesis Prime did not use the First Edition Optimus Prime mold will be pleased to know that this is your black recolor of First Edition Optimus Prime. He also features some gold accents such as on the feet and shins, and overall looks quite sharp as far as black recolors go. |

Third party group SRC have a new release on the horizon, as revealed by a recent BBTS preorder. They are doing a black recolor of their previous unofficial release Q's Judge, a Legends scale Quintession. It's due out next month, for those who feel the urge to add a black repaint of a Quintesson to their Legends / Legion class collection.

2005 Boards member D-Drive has sent us the Diamond Comics shipping list for Transformers titles for next week, which are scheduled for 28 November but might be delayed by Thanksgiving.
On the cards for next week is the first issue of IDW's Transformers Prime / Fall of Cybertron crossover series, Rage of the Dinobots, plus the hardcover Art of Fall of Cybertron and the Infestation 2 complete collected series hardcover. Also scheduled for next week are second printings of the two ongoing annuals, More than Meets the Eye and Robots in Disguise, which tell the story of Primus and fold directly into the events of the ongoing series! Plus they're generally great standalone reads, well worth checking out. After the break, check out the full list descriptions sent to us by D-Drive. |

A second piece of work from Emiliano Santalucia to share with you here. This piece of work is for a concept he did when working with Hasbro to develop a Transformers production and character bible for Hasbro, more than likely the master document detailing Hasbro's Aligned Continuity project which comprises Transformers Prime, the Transformers War for Cybertron video games, and the Exodus novels series.
This piece of concept art was developed entirely by Emiliano Santalucia when he was given free rein by Hasbro's Eric Siebenaler to do his own take on some classic characters, and what you see here is Emiliano Santalucia's concept on what an Aligned Continuity Sideswipe might look like. His concept includes equal measures of Revenge of the Fallen Sideswipe particularly in the wheel-legs and the swords on the arms, and mixes in some classic elements in the head, arms and chest. The final effect is very cool and striking, in this newsie's opinion. Check out the original post on Emiliano Santalucia's blog for more on the creation process and the background to this piece. |

We have a couple of rare treats to share with you right now. Something we rarely ever get to see are the concept designs behind the Transformers characters - the artwork that eventually gets turned into the characters and the toys that we know and love. Today, concept artist Emiliano Santalucia has shared some of his concept work, one of which is for the aligned continuity pirate captain of the Star Seekers, Thundertron. You can see in the various sketches the progression of the Thundertron design including how he was originally to look a bit more battle worn and how the "wing" elements on the hips of the toy were originally concepted as more of the bottom half of a coat. You can also see a much earlier design, which was more squat and bulky in appearance compared to the later designs.
Check it all out on Emiliano Santalucia's blog entry for the Thundertron concept work. |

Author Little Brown Books, who already publish some young readers books for the Transformers brand, have expanded their license with Hasbro to include Transformers Rescue Bots and a Transformers Prime Pop-Up Book, along with books based on Hasbro's other hot property of the moment My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
Little Brown will be releasing books based on Transformers Rescue Bots from May 2013 with the first two releases titled "Meet Chase the Police Bot" and "Meet Heatwave the Fire Bot", featuring stills from the cartoon series. The "Transformers Ultimate Pop-Up Universe" is due in Fall 2013 with an asking price of $36, and it's firmly based in the aligned continuity - though if the cover is an indication, it is using earlier designs of the Transformers Prime cast from the production bible. However this is no ordinary pop-up book - designed by master paper engineer Matthew Reinhart, the pop ups "transform" into other forms at the pull of a tab! Check out an article on the deal which goes into more detail about the material in the books on Publishers Weekly here. We have also received a press release regarding the deal - read on to check it out. |

Online store Kapow Toys has updated their site with official robot mode images of the Transformers GT series releases GT Prime and GT Saber. These images show the robot modes in full color for the first time - we had previously seen unpainted prototypes and also photos of a display featuring these full color pictures; this however marks the first time we have had a clear look at both, particularly GT Saber. Check them out then share your thoughts by hitting the discuss button.

Takara-Tomy have updated their site with some more official images, this time showcasing the next two Masterpiece series releases - MP-13 Masterpiece Soundwave and MP-14 Masterpiece (Red) Alert. As well as some nice quality images showcasing the robots and their various modes, the pages also have a montage showing off the various features of the two Masterpieces, including their boxes.
Additionally new pages have been added for the Capbots, Captimus Prime and Capticon. These pages again have some nice clear photos of the two robots, including a demonstration of how they transform and their packging. Open the links above to check out the new pages, or read on for our mirror of the new images. |

The Official Transformers Facebook page has updated with more new artwork for the Transformers Legends Mobile game. Showcased here are Blast Off and Wheeljack in their vehicle modes. Blast Off is based largely on his Generation 1 shuttle mode design, perhaps with just a little extra sleekness worked in. Wheeljack is based fully on his Generations Classics design. The robot modes are not shown, but are presumably also in the same vein as these alternate modes.
The Transformers Facebook page also mentions that a new trailer for the game will be coming soon, so that is something for you to look forward to! |

Mere hours after getting our first look at the Transformers GT characters in their robot modes, we are able to now share with you a look at the "Race Queens" figures that come with the Transformers GT releases. Far from being the non-poseable PVC figures with optional alternate parts of the Binaltech Asterisk and Kiss Players series, these are 90mm tall fully poseable figures using the modern Microman body. At this scale they are probably not going to be in scale with the Transformers they come with, but hey, since when were Transformers toys ever even in scale with each other?
These pictures coming at you courtesy of Big Bad Toy Store. Check out their preorders for the Transformers GT releases: GT Prime and GT Saber. |

Thanks to the Planet Iacon Facebook group, we now have in-package images of the soon to be released Takara-Tomy Generations Optimus Prime and Jazz. Not only are these toys the Japanese releases of the current Fall of Cybertron/Generations toys of Optimus Prime and Jazz with new metallic paint jobs, but the packaging may look extremely similar to those familiar with the current Generations line-up.
