iGear are producing a new version of their unofficial Minibot Hench, based on the original Marvel US comic artwork for Brawn. This new version features a tweaked deco with a lighter green and a slightly stronger orange, as well as upper arms in green as opposed to the grey of the lower arms on the original.
This news comes to us by way of our sponsors Big Bad Toy Store - check out their preorder page here. |

Toys R Us Canada has posted a pair of interesting preorder pages, revealing a pair of new Chinese New Year Platinum Edition releases. These "Year of the Horse" releases seem to be in the same vein as past Year of the Dragon and Year of the Snake special editions, if the descriptions are anything to go by.
The first of the two is, according to Toys R Us Canada, "TRA SUPREME STARSCREAM CNY PLATINUM". There's no product pictures or description, but the additional information suggests that two AA batteries are needed. An informed opinion suggests this might be, in the same vein as the Year of the Snake Omega Supreme, a Chinese New Year re-release of the Transformers Cybertron Supreme Starscream. He's priced just shy of $120 Canadian, and scheduled for a release on the last day of this year, 31 December 2013. Stay tuned for more news on this and all other things Transformers. |

Toys R Us Canada also revealed a second Platinum Edition Chinese New Year Transformer. The second Year of the Horse Transformer is a Year of the Horse Optimus Prime. The page on Toys R Us Canada was here, but has since started redirecting to the site's index. However, 2005 Boards member mapatel got a copy of the product description, which reads as follows:
The leader of the Autobots is back and more unstoppable than ever! Everyone will know that this mighty Year of the Horse Optimus Prime figure is the ultimate Autobot, because the Matrix of Leadership fits in his chest. He'll shred his Decepticon enemies with his Energon axe in robot mode, and flatten them in truck mode! Convert his trailer to a battle station with a maintenance dock, where you can store his ion cannon and Energon axe. Your Transformers adventures will be off the hook with this Optimus Prime figure! What this suggests about this Optimus Prime is that:
As before no pictures are available, so this is speculation on our part, however once more news becomes available we shall share it with you here. |

A very interesting pre-order has been posted at BigBadToyStore, a pre-order for none other than Super Fire Convoy from the fan-favorite series, Car Robots AKA Robots In Disguise! This was last the mainline prior to the Armada trilogy and it left big shoes to fill. It also introduced once of the most popular and unique versions of Convoy/Optimus Prime.
For those of you who missed out, the pre-order page can be accessed here. Price is $149.99. BBTS has stated that the Toys R Us exclusive Master Sword is rumored to be included. That may factor into the higher price, but we aren't completely sure. Since the sword is rumored to be included and was used for the God Fire Convoy combined mode with God Magnus...perhaps the latter isn't too far behind? Stay tuned as we'll keep you posted! |

Nick Roche has tweeted some lineart for one of the prints that he will be selling at Auto Assembly 2013 this weekend. This print, titled "More than Meets the Bad Guys", showcases many of the villains featured in More than Meets the Eye over its first 19 issues - be warned, this print does include the villain from Remain in Light! Do not click on the thumbnail at left or the link above if you do not want the identity of the villain of this arc to be spoiled!
In a later tweet, Nick Roche has also teased a second print, "More than Meets the Feels". Lastly, Nick is polling interest in having more copies of last year's Lost Light crew print available at Auto Assembly 2013, which showcases the core cast of the first arc of More than Meets the Eye. If you want a copy, tweet Nick here to show your support! Auto Assembly 2013 is taking place this weekend, 9 August - 11 August 2013 at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, England. As well as Nick Roche, guests include Neil Kaplan the voice of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime, Dan Gilvezan the voice of Generation 1 Bumblebee, and Steve Blum the voice of Transformers Prime Starscream and Rescue Bots Heatwave, plus legendary Transformers comics writer Simon Furman, More than Meets the Eye writer James Roberts, and Andrew Wildman, Liam Shalloo, Ed Pirrie, Kat Nicholson, Jason Cardy, Kris Carter, John-Paul Bove and making their Auto Assembly debut, Andrew Griffith and Alex Milne! Transformers has enjoyed a partnership with General Motors throughout the first three live action movies, and that is a trend which looks set to continue with Transformers 4! According to MLive, this weekend 10-11 August 2013 will see the on-location shooting of Transformers 4 head to GM's Lansing Delta Township assembly plant. The plant is where the Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave crossovers are made. According to GM this might be the first of many GM locations to be used, suggesting that Transformers 4 might involve the auto maker like never before. As always time will tell!

For our next gallery, we are bringing you a look at one of the most awaited Deluxe class toys Hasbro has released in their Generations line. Ever since the Classics line was revived as Universe, fans have eagerly awaited a Trailbreaker to complete their Classics set of original 1984 Autobots. Now at long last in the new IDW comic pack-in Generations series, Trailbreaker finally has his Classics toy! Renamed Trailcutter for trademark reasons (or because Whirl convinced him that having "breaker" in his name was a bad idea) the Autobot forcefield specialist is here to fill out a gap on those Classics Autobots shelves!
We'll get the negatives out the way first for this toy - yes, the vehicle mode is quite small or "compact" you might say, and yes, the robot mode is not quite as large as perhaps a Classics Trailbreaker ought to be. And yes, the torso has a small problem staying clicked in (but not like Generations Blitzwing levels of frustration). If you put that aside, though, ou have a very nicely designed Autobot for your collection. Trailcutter is solidly built, stout and free of extraneous vehicle bits in robot mode. A lot of his vehicle mass goes on his chest and arms, giving Trailcutter a heroic and well-built robot mode that nicely evokes a modern interpretation of the Generation 1 toy as well as the robot mode design featured in the More than Meets the Eye comics. Trailcutter's weapon is a shield / blaster hybrid that can store on the back to evoke the "two missiles on the shoulders" look of the Generation 1 toy. All in all, Trailcutter is a nicely designed Deluxe class toy, well-proportioned, spot on to the art, and extremely fun to play about with. Enough of our rambling now - open the link below to check out our full gallery of Trailcutter to judge for yourself! Generations Trailcutter Gallery |

E-Hobby have also updated their preorder page for the Japanese Generations TG-29 Sandstorm with official images. The Japanese Sandstorm is notably a lot more orange, with the gun, cab and wings all done in orange plastic as opposed to the yellow or black they were in the US release. Other paint deco changes include some silver on the front bull-bars. Once again we have attached the images to this post for your perusal.

E-Hobby have updated their preorder page for the Japanese Generations TG-29 Megatron and Starscream Legends set with official pictures of the figures. The Japanese release of these Legends class toys gives Megatron a Generation 1 inspired deco rather than the IDW inspired deco of the US version. Starscream features a shinier deco and nul-ray blasters matched to the main figure's colors. Chop Shop is a darker shade looking more brown like the original Generation 1 toy, and Waspinator likewise has a modified deco with a more muted, shiny green on his body and a darker green on his arms. Check out the images attached to this news post.

Next up in our series of galleries looking at the all-new IDW Comics series of Transformers Generations Deluxes is the lone Decepticon in the assortment, Megatron! This Megatron is based on the stealth bomber design the Decepticon leader sported from the "Return of the Decepticons" arc through to the conclusion of Chaos - a design which from its debut in the comics, fans have clamored for a toy of. Hasbro has heard the requests and has given fans what they asked for!
The IDW Generations Megatron is a very nicely designed figure. Cast mainly in black plastic, there is some glitter incorporated to give it a bit of sparkle and keep the toy from being too flat black. The black is broken up by two different tones of purple, and a few red highlights, used sparingly. It is a simple and entirely traditional Decepticon deco, and it works. Scale wise, Megatron is a modern Deluxe size, so a little smaller than his peers from a few years ago, but ignoring relative scale on the shelf - because after all, Transformers toy scale has always been subjective - and you have a toy whose design exudes menace. Megatron is tall and slender, yet broad shouldered. Like Trailbreaker, there is a lack of vehicle parts hanging off the robot mode, everything is ingeniously hidden, with the wingtips detaching and forming the railgun. Poseability is excellent, and Megatron can assume some of his truly iconic poses with ease. Overall, this is one of the best designed Deluxes to come out of Hasbro in the Generations line so far, and even if the size does bother you, I'd still recommend taking a look at this toy - it is very, very good and lots of fun to fiddle with. Open the link below to check out our gallery and see for yourself: Generations IDW Deluxe Megatron Gallery |

Roberto Orci, who along with Alex Kurtzman excutive produced Transforemers Prime, has taken part in a brief Q&A session with IGN and confirmed his involvement in the next Transformers show.
A key point of the discussion that will interest many of you is the statement about what is coming next. "It’s not really a reboot, it’s sort of a continuation of it [Transformers Prime] in a tonally different form." - Orci goes on to explain that this means they want to service the right audiences, they don't want to scare little kids the way Transformers Prime sometimes could. Essentially a parallel series that is "connected" but friendly to the family. In response to a follow-up question on this, Orci states that the look will be more kid-friendly, but the wit will still be there, it won't be any less entertaining or any less like Transformers, but they don't want to put off little kids with the series' intensity. One thing that is interesting is that when asked if Transformers Prime as a story will be in continuity with this series, Roberto was non-committal, explaining that this very issue is currently under discussion - so while not a complete reboot, it sounds as though the new series being a direct sequel is equally not confirmed. Watch this space for more news! |

The next Transformers Legends game event has been announced! Next up is "War Dawn", which does not feature the Aerialbots or Orion Pax, disappointingly. It instead takes war in the other sense and gives us Combaticons! Vortex, Blast Off and Swindle are featured in this event as the special episode cards, and they will be facing off against an elite Autobot squad of spies and specialists led by Mirage, and featuring Trailcutter and Cliffjumper! This event kicks off today and runs through to next Tuesday August 13th. Check out the full text of the announcement after the break.

A new trailer for Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime has been released. Prime Toys have released their own unofficial version of the trailer which transforms into the circular weapons rack from the opening battle at Chernobyl in Transformers Dark of the Moon. This version can mount the numerous accessories of a Leader Class Revenge of the Fallen / Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime on the central ring, including the Jetwing pack at the top. Please remember though this one is not an officially licensed product from Hasbro or Takara-Tomy.
If you are interested, the trailer is currently listed on several eBay auctions, such as this one where the pictures are taken from. |
