When it comes to Transformers action figures, one of the most important things is the Packaging Art. Some may be good and some bad, but as with any other thing, the packaging gives us our first impression. And "first impressions" are important. So, why not take a trip down memory lane to remember the moment when you first saw your favorite Transformers toy? And that's exactly what IDW Publishing is planning as a way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Transformers Franchise next year.
There is a new Amazon listing for a book named "Transformers Legacy: A Celebration of Transformers Package Art". Set to release May next year, the official description is as follows: "Remember the thrill of tearing open a gift on Christmas morning, discovering a brand-new Transformer in a shiny new box? While the toys were amazing in their own right, what made the packages stand head-and-shoulders above the myriad competing action figures on shelves was the stunning box art. Transformers: Legacy collects hundreds of beautifully airbrushed paintings from the iconic first decade of The Transformers. Hasbro, Takara, and private collectors opened their archives, yielding an unparalled level of quality. Essays and interviews from the original illustrators give unprecedented insight into the process behind the art. This book is chock-full of extras, including never-before-seen artwork from toys that never were, original design sketches, catalog artwork, and more." Book cover art is unavailable at the moment, but you can find the product details below:
If you want to know what this book will contain, head over to Jim Sorenson's Official Blog. The image for this News Post is from our Resources Section. You can check out some really cool G1 stuff there. |

We have got word that the makers of the Delicate Warrior, AFT Toys, have released some images of their next project. The series has been dubbed "Titanium Saints" and their next release is an unofficial Alpha Trion. This version of the 'bot who took Orion Pax and made an Optimus Prime out of him comes in a Generation 1 style box and transforms into a battleship. Our sponsors TFSource have him up for preorder, with an expected release of March 2014, a big thanks to them for the heads up on this one.

The latest Transformers Collectors Club magazine has started to hit mailboxes, and as previously reported, the issue shows off the Transformers Generations 2014 Deluxe Wave 3. On show are Rattrap (pictured from the front cover image), Tankor and Crosscut.
Rattrap is as you can see in the image based on his season 1 beast mode. The image in the magazine shows Rattrap comes with two guns, most likely they combine to make the larger gun shown on the cover. His beast mode is an organic rat, nicely detailed but it seems to lack some poseability. Tankor is likely to be the star of this assortment, for those wanting show-accurate Beast Machines toys. His robot form is nearly spot-on to how the character looked in the Beast Machines series, with the tank mode sporting the semi-exposed head which was something of a trademark for Tankor. Plus he sports a Vehicon faction symbol - making the Vehicons the sixth faction represented in the current Transformers Generations series. Crosscut is as some anticipated a silver redeco of Skids, with a new head. The new head seems to be based on the original alternate head design of Diaclone Skids, later used on the exclusive E-Hobby Crosscut and Generations book Screech figures. The collector's club magazine also gives some news on Botcon 2014. The anniversary blow-out show's location and dates are now set, and an announcement is coming soon, pending a rewrite of the registration software to make sure the registration process is as smooth as possible for everyone. Here's hoping that Fun Publications don't keep us hanging on that one too long! |

Thanks to TFW2005 boards member Gunshot, we now have in-hand images of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters Cyberverse Commander Ultra Magnus (wow that's a mouthful.) Ultra Magnus is a retool of the Transformers Prime Cyberverse Commander Optimus Prime, who is in the same wave as Unicron Megatron and Bludgeon. Check out the in-hand images by clicking the story title, which feature comparison to the vast majority of the Transformers Prime Cyberverse Autobots, including the prior Cyberverse Ultra Magnus.

Here's a bit of a surprise. It seems as though the school children of Durfee Elementary-Middle School were lucky enough to catch a 3 Minute footage from the upcoming Transformers: Age Of Extinction. The footage was revealed by one of the movie's co-producers; Allegra Clegg during her visit to the school as a promotion campaign by Paramount to encourage school attendance.
According to a report by The Detroit Hub: That gave them the chance to have Clegg come to the school, talk about how the film was made, career options in the film industry, as well as giving the kids a first look at the next installment in the Transformers franchise, due in theaters June 27, 2014. The Durfee students were some of the first to check out a three-minute extended clip of the film before anyone, anywhere on the planet. Seeing the clip and talking with the producer was even more special because much of the movie was filmed in Detroit. Allegra Clegg also gave away Transformers 4 merchandise such as Caps as well. "It takes thousands of people to make a movie like Transformers. The entire community has to come together to make it a success," said Clegg. "Detroit and Michigan are great places to shoot a project." When it came time for questions, the kids started out a little shy, but warmed up quickly. They grilled Clegg on everything from how the film’s robots were named to how she got into the business to how they could get a job in Hollywood and what they needed to study now as elementary and middle schoolers to someday do what she is doing. So, what do you think that was shown? Was it the same as what was shown at the Hasbro Investor Event? Or was it new footage? Speculate at the thread associated with this news post. |
