Transformers Dioramas on Facebook has revealed one of the store exclusive items coming this summer as a part of the Transformers Age of Extinction toyline.
What we have for you here is a look at an "evolutions" two-pack, taking characters appearing in Transformers Age of Extinction and bundling them with toys from past Transformers toy lines to represent the characters as they appeared in Generation 1; which is also a great 30th anniversary celebration. The set we have a look at here is Grimlock, and it's a Toys R Us Exclusive. In this set we have two Grimlocks. The "then" half of the equation is the Transformers Energon Grimlock, representing the original Grimlock likely due to the prohibitive cost and mold quality of the Generation 1 original. The "now" half of the evolution is the new Generations Age of Extinction Voyager Grimlock mold. The packaging has a particularly cool effect where the tray behind the original toy features the classic Generation 1 grid and gradient style - even the Autobot logo as it appeared on the original boxes. This is not the first time that the evolution of a Transformer has been collected as a store exclusive set - in 2008, there was a "Legacy of Bumblebee" set which did the same for three Deluxe Bumblebees from Classics, Animated and Movie series. We also know that from the leaked upcoming toy list from Hasbro that there are some more "Then and Now" evolution sets planned, including Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Slug / Slag and Strafe / Swoop. |

Hot on the previously-reported news from Shogu Hasui's Twitter page showing a silhouette teaser, a gray prototype image of the highly-anticipated MP-21 - Masterpiece Bumble - surfaces by way of Comic Toys' Facebook page. We get a look at both the robot and the alternate modes of Masterpiece Bumble. The photo shows us that the alt mode is a realistic representation of the fully-licensed Volkswagen Bettle, as opposed to a chibified toy alt mode that the original Generation One toy represents. Also, a feature unknown until now is that the faceplate for Bumble is removable!
Along with this image is what appears to be a fully-transformable Exo-suit Spike figure, as seen from the 1986 The Transformers: the Movie! Certainly feel free to journey back to that scene with some of our screencaps of the scenes shared with these two here: The Transformers: The Movie - Bumble[bee] and Spike Screencaps. Now, it is a bit unclear as to whether or not the figure is actually Spike or his son, Daniel. However, the likelihood of Spike seems to be a bit higher, given his long friendship with Bumble[bee]. If you want to speculate further, jump on over to our Masterpiece Speculation thread! |

Third party group Microblaze Creations have unveiled color images of their "Military Titans" set, which is an unofficial Voyager scaled Onslaught based on the Fall of Cybertron design to go with the 2012 Fall of Cybertron Combaticons. The main meat of the set is the larger and more game accurate Onslaught, but the set also includes some other upgrades for the rest of the set, to upgrade the look and style of the Bruticus combiner mode.
The initial coloration of the set is done to go with the retail release Bruticus; no word yet if a Generation 2, Japanese release or SDCC / Platinum series colormatched version will be made available. |

If you enjoyed the Teaser Trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction, you may have noticed all the cool ariel shots (including the Bumblebee action scene) for the movie. Ever wondered how Mr. Michael Bay did those?
For the task, 6K Epic Dragon cameras were used combined with the SHOTOVER K1 stabilization platform. 2005 Boards Member GabrielPrime has received info and images from behind the scenes. "The SHOTOVER K1 stabilization platform was used with a variety of camera and lens combinations including the new 6K Red Dragon, Angeniuex Optimo 16-42 and Angenieux 50-500 anamorphic lens as well as the IMAX Digital 3D rig. The SHOTOVER K1 was used for aerials on the biggest movie of summer 2014, Transformers 4! Filmed in China and Hong Kong, the K1 was easily brought in for the shoots as there are no export restrictions on the system and because of the K1’s open platform design, the IMAX Digital 3D system was quickly and easily integrated. Whatever the director wants, the K1 delivers!" For more information about the SHOTOVER K1, you can visit their official website. Check out the images, after the jump. |

2005 Boards Member RatchetBee had the privilege of witnessing 4 days of Principal Photography for Transformers: Age Of Extinction at the Illinois Railway Museum.
He is sharing with us some cool pics he took while the shooting was taking place. Unfortunately, he can only show us some of the behind-the-scenes photos he took and cannot show the scenes which involved with them. Illinois Railway Museum acts as a Rail Yard in Texas on the movie and this is what our member has to say: "Hey guys, I work at the Illinois Railway Museum where parts of T4 were shot and I had the joy of being on set for all 4 days. So being a Transformer fan, I thought I'd share some nice behind the scenes pics. Enjoy! ... I can tell you that none of our trains will be transforming into anything. A total of 3 action sequences and 1 other sequence were filmed at the museum but in the movie it will appear as if they are in a rail yard in Texas. So perhaps there will be a transforming train in the mix just not ours. They filmed 14 more sequences in the corn fields and side streets around the Museum. The opening scene in the teaser trailer with the Union Pacific train was not filmed at the museum." You can check out some more info and lots of images from the set at the Thread associated with this news post. |

We at TFW2005 are constantly on the hunt for exciting news from the Transformers Franchise. Today, thanks to United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO for short) we found out that Hasbro has applied for a new trademark last week.
The new trademark is titled "Transformers: Robots In Disguise" and is categorized under
Right now, we are in the dark as you are. But, the best thing about Hasbro filing a new trademark is that we will see it in real life in the future… though unable to tell when (Mind you, Airachnid trademark was filed years before we actually saw her on the show). Update: We have also learned that Hasbro has applied for this new trademark while the old trademark for RID (cartoon, toyline etc) is still live and active. Stick with TFW2005 as we bring you the best news… first. (Placeholder image Artwork by Don Figueroa, Colors and Layout by Joe Moore) |

Via our sister site Hisstank.com we can share some pictures with you of the DaCa Toys Titan Chronos figure. Chronos is a roughly Masterpiece sized version of Generation 1 Jetfire / Skyfire, based on the cartoon series design. A prototype is on show at the New Jersey Collectors Con, which is taking place today!
The pictures give you a real feel of the size and the detail that has gone into this release. The jet mode is not on display, but check out a selection of different views and angles on the robot mode - including a shot side by side with Masterpiece Grimlock and Masterpiece Black Convoy. You can check out even more pics over at Hisstank.com; and if you are in the New Jersey area, why not stop by the New Jersey Collectors Con and see this toy in person for yourself? The New Jersey Collectors Con is taking place today at the Holiday Inn Cherry Hill – New Jersey between 10am and 4pm. Find out more here. |

TFW2005 sponsor Captured Prey is reporting that according to their sources, the upcoming exclusive repaint of Masterpiece Streak will NOT in fact be an homage to the Diaclone blue version of the figure as many had speculated, but an all silver version similar to the G1 Bluestreak toy. It is reported to be a lighter shade of silver than that on the first release, and without the black on the hood.
You can see the listing here. Take this with a grain of salt for now as there are not yet pictures of the final deco, but it's not looking good for those hoping to finally have a version of the fabled Blue Bluestreak. |
