2005 Boards member jru42287 has learned of some interesting new entries in the Toys R Us computer system.
The first of these entries, with a retail value listed of $129.99, is a "Transformers MV4 Optimus Trailer Platinum Edition" which by the sounds of it is a Platinum Edition version of Age of Extinction Optimus Prime complete with trailer. An image is shown with the listing, showing a more detailed truck mode than we have seen so far with a Generation 1 inspired trailer, although the image might be a placeholder. Second is another Platinum Series set, titled "Breakout Scene". This set curiously has a Generations Skids pictured with it in spite of being explicitly labelled as "TRA MV4", or Transformers Movie 4. The Skids is colored to look like the Sonic rally car, though may be a placeholder since he's a non-movie toy. The set is listed as $59.99 which implies there may be more to it than just this one Deluxe - although we may never know, since it is in "D" status, suggesting the set has been discontinued. This may mean it is not happening, or just that it is not yet fully confirmed. Lastly there are two more sets of listings, one set for Transformers Age of Extinction Leaders and one set for Transformers Generations Leader class toys. Both sets of listings feature three toys listed - which in both cases covers the two known Leaders (Grimlock and Optimus Prime for Age of Extinction, Megatron and Jetfire for Generations). There's no information on who the third Leader for either line is, though, but rumors are that the third Age of Extinction Leader may be a reworked Dark of the Moon Leader Bumblebee. |

Via Transformers Colombia, we can share with you a first look at some upcoming releases in the Transformers Hero Mashers series. Two new releases for the series are revealed - an electronic Grimlock set, based on the Generation 1 dinosaur mode with a light-up mouth, and a Strafe with Bumblebee two-pack. Both sets are fully interchangeable with other Transformers Hero Mashers releases, which means you can create oddities like an Optimus Prime with Bumblebee legs and a Grimlock head (that lights up).

Transformers Colombia strikes again, this time sharing official images of the Toys R Us exclusive Dinobot Strafe and Slug Evolution two packs. These "then and now" sets pair the Deluxe class Dinobots with the Dark of the Moon "Dinobot Minicons" - Rav is packed with Strafe, and Triceradon is packed with Slug.
What do you make of the nature of these pack-in sets? Share your thoughts by hitting the discuss button below. |

Well then... now for some unusual Transformer news.
We here at TFW would like to bring to your attention some new costumes, marketed as "lingerie", which were advertised earlier today on the Facebook page of Leg Avenue. What TFW2005 member, AoE, was doing on this particular website is none of our business. However, the costumes in question appear to be adult women costumes based off of the Animated versions of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron. Because all three of those characters are dead sexy when you think about them. Maybe this is your thing. Maybe these are GREAT costumes for Halloween. Either way, they exist and are therefore amazing! You can check out the image for them by clicking on the title bar! |

This year appears to be the year of Dinobots and of Ultra Magnus! With all the current hype of the official Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, KFC has revealed the repaints of their unofficial Masterpiece Ultra Magnus, Citizen Stack. Revealed earlier today via KFC toys' Facebook was their Eavi Metal Shining Yellow Citizen Stack which is an homage to the E-Hobby 2001 release of their clear yellow plastic Generation 1 Ultra Magnus. The second reveal shows off DAI Stack. Dai Stack will be an unofficial Diaclone Powered Magnus, complete with a new head with faceplate.
You can take a look at both new renders by clicking the title bar. |

Thanks to several reports from TFW2005 members, we now have word that the third wave of Rescue Bots 2 Packs has hit US retail. This wave includes Heatwave in his new form, Optimus Prime in a very Powered Convoy-esque color scheme (With a pet Robot T-Rex! It's almost like there's big with dinosaurs and Transformers coming pretty soon), a black redeco of Bumblebee with Scrapmaster and Boulder. These toys were sighted in many locations, including a Target in North Carolina, Massachusetts, and a Walmart in Kentucky.

Art Storm has released photos of their upcoming EX Gokin release of Alpha Trion.
This articulated collectors figure is around 6 inches tall, comes with seven swap-out hands (including a spread-open hand which is perfect for beard grooming poses, judging by these photos), a display base, and an extra set of head and shoulders to make Alpha Trion look more like his earlier self A3. EX Gokin Alpha Trion is set for release in August of this year, for 9800 Yen. |

Courtesy from a TakaraTomy ad from the most recent Dengeki Hobby Magazine, we have confirmation of a crossover event between Transformers and Evangelion. The ad first seen here on Twitter and reported by AnimeNewsNetwork reveals Optimus Prime (drawn similarly to his MP-10 silhouette) with nods and symbols from Evangelion, including a NERV symbol on his shoulder. Does this mean a potential toy release with this deco? No details are available at this time unfortunately.
For those fans not familiar with the Evangelion series, Evangelion is an apocalyptic anime in the mecha genre first airing in the mid 1990's, which became very popular in Japan. The series is set in a futuristic Tokyo, fifteen years after a worldwide cataclysm (see more info here). AnimeNewsNetwork also translated a summary of the cross over explaining more details: The Angels are invading. Breaking a long silence, the mysterious life-forms known as the Angels suddenly appear. The weapons the UN forces gather together in retaliation can't even scratch them. In the end, they turn to the secret agency, NERV, to manage the anti-Angel strategy. With Neo-Tokyo 3 in their sights, the Angels slowly advance upon the city...but suddenly a spaceship comes hurtling down from the sky above the Angels: the Sky Lynx! Out of the ship emerges warriors of the far-off planet Cybertron. They've come to investigate after noticing an unusual energy reading. "We can't let a disaster like the Second Impact occur on this planet." "What?! What are these monsters?!" The shocked Cybertron convoy sets its sights on an enemy much bigger than themselves. Discuss the crossover after the jump! |

Video game website GameTrailers.com has uploaded a new trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, this time focusing on the Decepticons leader himself, Megatron. The Megatron is question is the "Aligned" version from Fall of Cybertron, still rocking the upgraded body he acquired in that game.
The trailer shows off some new gameplay, showing off his melee moves, transformation, and of course, fighting some Autobots. Check it out after the jump! |

2001 was a year of change for the Transformers brand, both in public and also behind the scenes. What was obvious to fans was the cancellation of the Beast Machines line – leaving some toys unreleased – and the Japanese Car Robots line being imported as Robots in Disguise, which brought back realistic vehicular Transformers, Autobots, Decepticons, and the classic faction symbols which had last been widely used in 1992. Behind the scenes, Hasbro and Takara made a deal to co-produce the next Transformers series, laying the groundwork for what would come to be known as the Unicron trilogy – the fruit of this deal would be seen in 2002.

Since we are celebrating Robots in Disguise in today's chapter of the 30 years of Transformers in 30 days, we thought now would be a great time to take a look at one of the many cool homages to Robots in Disguise that has come out across the last few years - the Transformers Collectors Club 2011 membership exclusive, Sideburn!
Sideburn was a redeco of the Transformers Classics Rodimus, which is a nice bit of self-referencing given that the Robots in Disguise Super Sideburn deco was itself based on Hot Rod's own deco. The deco is particularly well-suited to the mold and does a good job of evoking the character, and a clever paint job on the robot mode head helps to give Sideburn his own identity. Overall, the TCC Sideburn was a particularly sharp deco and looked good on the Rodimus mold. If you're a fan of Robots in Disguise, you could do a lot worse than seeking this toy out for your collection. Check out SydneyY's excellent gallery and judge for yourself. Via Transformers Columbia, we have some new official images of the upcoming Transformers Generations Rattrap and Tankor, which includes in package pics for both toys. Be sure to check out a very welcome return of the classic Maximal and Vehicon faction logos on these packages!
Furthermore we have learned via a post on the Facebook page of online retailer Kapow Toys that Tankor and Rattrap are expected in July 2014, with Crosscut only delayed until September 2014. Please note, this is specific to one online retailer, and these dates may follow the expected Asian release dates so the US release window might lag behind slightly. We repeat. Nothing is cancelled! Rattrap, Tankor and Crosscut will all be released! |

However, we did not get a chance to watch the full video and it is yet to be released officially. But, we have stumbled upon the full length commercial on You Tube by TheDHCreator. It's still a recording off the screen at NYIAS but this is the best one yet. The video features what may possibly be a track composed by Steve Jablonsky for Michael Bay's Transformers: Age Of Extinction. |
