Deadline is reporting that The Hub, a joint venture with Discovery Networks and Hasbro, is no more. The channel will be re-branded in "Discovery: XYZ" fashion, most likely Discovery Family. They will also be taking a larger stake of the channel by acquiring Hasbro shares. Hasbro will retain some interest and continue to provide programming from 9 AM - 3 PM, so we should still see Transformers and other programming on the station. Whether or not they will also get prime time slots for first run episodes, not mentioned here. Check the full details over at Deadline and discuss on the forums!

Sad news to report today as Buster Jones, the voice actor known to Transformers fans for his role as Generation 1 Blaster, has passed away at the age of 71. This news comes way via Noblemania. Buster Jones was also known for his work as Black Vulcan on Superfriends and Winston Zeddemore on The Real Ghostbusters. Some fans were fortunate enough to meet Buster Jones at BotCon 2012 where he shared some of Blaster's most memorable lines with hundreds of Transformers fans.
Your contribution to this franchise will always be remembered. Rest in peace Buster Jones. |

Transformers: Legends event Only Human is now live.
Event Synopsis: RODIMUS, ULTRA MAGNUS, SPRINGER and ARCEE foil VICTOR DRATH’S attempt to steal the powerful, but volatile, Newtronium. DRATH, fed up with their constant interference, calls on the mercenary OLD SNAKE for help. VICTOR DRATH lures the AUTOBOTS into a trap, and using OLD SNAKE’S technology, transfers their minds into the bodies of synthoids. OLD SNAKE convinces DRATH to use the now-mindless AUTOBOTS as weapons, by outfitting them with controls. Meanwhile, as the RODIMUS and his friends get used to their new bodies, they learn that DRATH and OLD SNAKE are going to use their bodies to blow up AUTOBOT CITY. It is now a race against time, as the now-human AUTOBOTS try to warn the city and stop VICTOR DRATH’S forces. Will the AUTOBOTS reclaim their bodies, or will they be trapped in them forever? Will OLD SNAKE be able to help VICTOR DRATH destroy AUTOBOT CITY and claim his revenge? Find out on TRANSFORMERS: LEGENDS – “ONLY HUMAN”! Also, we want to wish a Happy 30th Birthday to Transformers! Note: A bug has been identified where the stats of this event's EVO cards are underpowered. Mobage/DeNA is working on a fix. |

Hat tip to TFW2005 boards member PoweredConvoy for linking us to a new promo image for the newest Transformers Cloud figures: Roadbuster and Hellwarp. The promo image found on the TakaraTomy Mall's home page not only gives us another look at the Takara exclusive repaints, but also provides a preorder window of September 24 - November 4, 2014. As with past releases, several of TFW's sponsors may also carry these figures.
As a reminder of who these characters are and what their paint schemes represent, Roadbuster is a Transformers Energon Ironhide themed repaint. He'll be the fourth release of TakaraTomy Mall exclusives. Hellwarp is a little more obscure, but TFW's very own Sol Fury provides a great summary of who Hellwarp is: Hellwarp is a completely new, non-homage character, there was a Hellscream in 1998's Beast Wars Second, who was a remold of Cybershark to represent an evolved version of that show's Starscream. Hellwarp is a similar concept - a recolored version of Generations Skybyte to represent a cyborg shark evolution of skywarp. To top it off, the mohawk head that using the Skybyte mold gives Skywarp just might be a reference to Transformers Armada Skywarp, who also had a fin on his head. Hellwarp is the E-Hobby exclusive of the fourth set of Cloud releases. Check it out after the jump and discuss away! |

Takara-Tomy have begun to update their website to show off the next few releases in their Transformers Legends line. Swarp aka Swerve, Tailgate and Brainstorm now have thumbnail images on the release listing for the line, although there's no full images in the Takara-Tomy product catalog - yet.
What we can see from the images are that Swerve and Tailgate both feature some darker colors compared to their US releases - Swerve has a darker maroon closer to his original tone, and Tailgate's teal is also darker. His chest has some silver on it, and there's an Autobot symbol on the torso. Brainstorm meanwhile has a much more detailed deco - lots more painted details on the torso including some silver on the torso and red and silver on the chest wings. Keep it TFW for more news as it emerges - we expect Takara-Tomy will release full images of these three fairly soon. |

Independent group Mastermind Creations has revealed new images of Zinnia via Planet Steel Express, part of the Reformatted Fembot series. Zinnia is based on the Generation 1 character Paradron Medic, part of a group of pacifist Autobots who left Cybertron to escape the Great War.
Zinnia is shown in what appears to be a close to final product, also revealing her accessories which have the appearance of blasters, but could potentially be more character fitting surgical tools. Along with the new images, we have a new release date as well, which is scheduled for November 5, 2014. Artist Marcelo Matere, known for several pieces of work including an extensive profile of Transformers, just dropped a bit of teaser that is sure to send a corner of the Transformers Fandom into a frenzy! On Marcelo's twitter page earlier today, he revealed that he is "Working on Transformers Animated again. News soon!"
Marcelo has worked with Transformers Animated in the past, most notably his cover work with The AllSpark Almanacs. What does his tweet suggest to you? Are we seeing a new comic book run? Another edition of the The AllSpark Almanac? Keep it locked here on TFW2005 as more news breaks on this Animated announcement! For now, speculate away! |

We continue to be surprised with new reveals and features from the Transformers Masterpiece toy line. Earlier this morning we learned even more about MP Star Saber and now it's Wheeljack's turn to surprise us, which was just recently released in Japan.
Weibo user ZEUX1S shared with us an interesting reveal when Wheeljack's head sculpt was disassembled, showing off a strong resemblance to the Animated Wheeljack's head design. TFW2005 board member GogDog put together a side by side image of MP and Animated Wheeljack's heads showing what appears to be a mustache on the Masterpiece figure among other shared characteristics, similar to the Animated design. Coincidence? A nod to Animated fans by the Takara designers? We'll let you be the judge, so hit the discussion link below! |

Deadshirt.net has posted a long and in-depth interview with the writer of IDW's Transformers VS G.I. Joe series, Tom Scioli. This interview covers a lot of the creative process behind the crossover, from inspirations to the involvement of Hasbro and IDW Publishing - and indeed there is also an answer to the question "how long does this plan to carry on for" - the answer being that Tom Scioli "could do this indefinitely".

AD-31 "Ultimate" Optimus Prime is a heavily remolded version of the Leader class mold, featuring a premium paint job, reworked weapons, remolded chest and head, and new arms. This is the first time we've seen the figure fully painted - check it out!

For our next gallery, it's time to bring on the big guy! Generations Jetfire is this year's high-end offering in the Generations line, and like Metroplex before him, he stands as a testament to how Hasbro genuinely does care about the fans.
Generations Jetfire is a very faithful update of the original Jetfire / Skyfire from Generation 1. He blends in elements of the original toy with the non-Robotech infringing animation model, effectively transforming from a very Generation 1 fighter jet to a very sharp version of the robot mode from the cartoon. He's a big and chunky toy, with great poseability. For accessories, Jetfire has a missile launching rifle plus detachable armor and boosters (none of which needs to come off for transformation - a great touch). He's also got a visor which can be removed to reveal the original head from the animation model - and when that visor is on, it lines up perfectly with the robot eyes underneath. All in all, this Generations Jetfire is a great toy who makes a fantastic 30th birthday present to Transformers fans. He is for the moment the definitive version of Jetfire which for us hits all the right notes. Greatly recommended - check out our gallery of almost 200 pictures and see for yourself: Generations Jetfire Gallery |

He's due out next month alongside the fourth of the Warbotron Combaticons. If you're collecting Warbotron, get ready - it's going to be a pricey month! |

Amazon has put up a pair of listings for two new IDW Transformers trade paperbacks. The first of these, due March 3 2015, is the expected collected edition for Transformers: Primacy - the third Flint Dille penned miniseries telling the tale of the early years of the war on Cybertron, the first two issues of which are available now.
The second of the trade paperbacks is perhaps the more shocking. Coming completely out of the left field is Transformers Classics Volume 8. This one is due on March 10, 2015. It collects the Transformers Universe profile books that Marvel published in 1986 which covered the cast and characters of the first three years of the Transformers toyline. Also collected in this volume are the character biographies that were published in issues #47-49, 56-72, and 74-79 of the Marvel US run. Topping off the collection is the original four issue G.I. Joe and the Transformers crossover miniseries. There's no cover art for either of these yet - watch this space for more updates. |

The Protectobots multipacks have now been found at retail in Asia. These releases - which we suspect might be Asia exclusive - have been found at a Toys R Us in Sunway Pyramid, Malaysia.
The five Protectobots are represented across the two multipacks, using a variety of older molds. The Evac Squad set features Hot Spot and Blades, with repainted from United Artfire (which combined the Classics Grapple crane with the Inferno body) and Blades repainted from Revenge of the Fallen Blazemaster. The Emergency Response set repurposes Transformers Prime Ratchet as First Aid, Beast Hunters Prowl as Streetwise / Streetsmart and the Cyberverse Legion Arcee as Groove. A big thanks goes to TFW2005 member Wildstrikes for the news tip. |
