Hero Complex recently had the privilege to interview Mr. Michael Bay. The director of Transformers: Dark of the Moon had lots to say. He is ready to make us forget the mistakes of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and deliver a fantastic movie with Transformers 3. Due to the nature of the interview... Yes, some may find it Spoiler-ish!
“It was kind of a mess, wasn’t it?” an unsmiling Bay said of the 2009 film, which was far from a flop — it grossed a potent $836 million worldwide, finishing third for the year behind only “Avatar” and the sixth “Harry Potter” movie. But the director still talks about the blockbuster in tones of regret. “Look, the movie had some good things in it and it was entertaining and it did very well, but it also failed in some key ways. I learned from it. And now with this third movie we’re going back to basics and I absolutely believe this is going to be a much better film than the second one.” Read the rest of the Interview, after the jump. |

Thanks to a recent article by Reuters and a News Tip we got, TFW2005 learns that General Motors is planning to promote Chevrolet Volt in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Quoting the Reuters Article… “GM also plans a global digital promotion for Chevy tied to the third Transformers movie around its scheduled July release.” Does this mean Jolt's back in Transformers 3? The recent Transformers 3 Toy Listing of Jolt? What do you think of this latest development? Jolt art thanks to artist Brian Rood. |

Tired of all the new Transformers toy news lately being "movie this" and "Dark of the Moon that"? Then how about a new toy in the Reveal the Shield line? An auction on Yahoo Japan auctions gives us a look at the next assortment of Reveal the Shield scouts. There's the previously unveiled Demolition Rumble - and a previously unseen toy, Downshift! Downshift is a recolored version of Hunt for the Decepticons Hubcap, sporting a black deco with some wild flames on it. This would be the "Big Daddy" recolor "although not in that name" we were teased about at Botcon. He looks very sharp! Check out the picture of him and Rumble by clicking on the link above.

ACToys member B-O-T has posted a pair of new images of Dark of the Moon's Leader Class Bumblebee. These new images show how Bumblebee in car mode is pretty small alongside a Voyager Class toy, and they also show the gigantic MechTech accessory on his roof that features a gigantic flip out bazooka. No information with regards to size yet. Could it surpass the Death Star Darth Vader as the biggest Star Wars Transformer? |

Here's a couple of Transformers 3 Trailer dates for your diaries - 18 February 2011 and 5 May 2011. According to various sources including Comic Book Movie, a second trailer will come out on 18 February with I Am Number 4, another Michael Bay / Steven Spielberg collaborative effort, and a third trailer will hit with Marvel's Thor on 5 May 2011.
Please bear in mind this is only tentative information and has not yet been confirmed by Paramount or Michael Bay himself, so may change. |

There must be some unwritten rule somewhere that every Transformers Movie line ends up with at least two of this toy somewhere along the line - because here comes Voyager Ratchet again for Dark of the Moon. The images you see here come via B-O-T of ACToys.net, it's the 2007 Movie Voyager Ratchet on his potential sixth mass-retail outing in an updated colorscheme to reflect the new deco he has in Dark of the Moon.
At the moment, we cannot confirm if this is for real or not - the lack of a MechTech accessory and the inclusion of the "Cyberglyphs" from Revenge of the Fallen is out of character with what we have seen of the Dark of the Moon toyline so far. Watch this space for future updates. |

B-O-T of ACToys has shared some more images - this time of some more Dark of the Moon Legends Class toys. We've already seen the Bumblebee in these images - but the new additions to the lineup are a recolor of Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class Autobot Skids, this time in the predominantly black Dark of the Moon colors. The trio of Legends are rounded out by a white Barricade, whose color scheme appears to have carried over from the Speed Stars "Highway Patrol" Barricade.

Back in November 2010, we first learned of a new Power Core Combiners five pack named "Spastic". This unfortunately named Transformer inflamed the hearts of the fandom both for adding him to a shelf of "unfortunately named Transformers" with Erector and Windbreaker, and against for the name's offensive connotations in the UK. Even major UK media got wind of the controversy.
Hasbro has taken notice, because this new auction on TFClub's Taobao account indicates that the name has been changed. Power Core Combiners Spastic is no more - by the miracle of some quick sticker work at the factory, he is now, Power Core Combiners Over-run! |

Ever feel like Reveal The Shield G2 Optimus Prime is missing something, like a transforming trailer to complete the homage to Laser Rod Optimus Prime? Bummed that the included sword looks more like it's from the Transformers Movies?
Well it's another fan company to the rescue, as t-sniper of HK-TF has posted silhouettes of a trailer for RTS G2 Prime! No word on the company behind this effort yet. Check out the upgrade(s) after the jump! |

Another one of those unwritten rules when it comes to Transformers toy releases seems to be that whichever line bears the role of being the "Universe" series - the melting pot of fan-favorites and multiple continuities - is that sooner or later, there will be dollar store releases of Cybertron Scouts in that line's packaging. Sure enough, making his third successive outing in this way (fourth if you count his original release in Cybertron) is Undermine! This auction, along with this one for Wreckloose and this one for Backstop, coming to us courtesy of TFClub, proves you can't keep the Cybertron Scouts down.
To be completely fair, they are fun little toys, and this outing for them is different to previous releases, in that all three are getting recolored blue Cyber Keys and all-new bios to better fit them into the wider "Transformers" line. And as if that was not enough, Backstop is a redeco. Click on the links above to check out the latest outing of this trio of Cybertron toys. No store is yet known, but if history holds, they will probably turn up in stores like Family Dollar. |

Amazon.co.jp has put up the official images of Takara-Tomy's Transformers United Wave 3! Due for release at the end of February, this assortment will consist of four Autobots - UN-15 Autobot Perceptor, UN-16 Autobot Blurr, UN-17 Autobot Kup, and UN-18 Wreck-Gar. Wreck-Gar, Kup and Blurr are all visibly different from their Hasbro counterparts - Perceptor, not so much, but there are a couple of minor differences. Click on the links above to check out the Amazon.co.jp pages - remember, you can zoom in on the images there for a better look!

Another new Dark of the Moon figure makes the auction block this week on Yahoo Japan. This time, it's Deluxe Class Skids, complete with his Mech-Tech weapon of choice. Sporting a new mold, his vehicle mode closely resembles his future on-screen appearance, now mostly black, with a bodykit and tell-tale green stripes that will distinguish him from his twin.

Not looking forward to spending that much for Junkion troop building? It seems Hasbro has us covered. The only way to get a remolded head on Reveal the Shield Wreck-Gar was previously through the E-Hobby exclusive United Scrapheap. However, now Hasbro's instruction sheet for Wreck-Gar again reveal an alternate head robot in their images. Not sporting a closed of faceplate like that found on Scrapheap, he does have a visored head.

Third party manufacturer i-Gear has updated their Facebook wall with new work in progress images for a new Volkswagen Beetle transformer. Shown only in vehicle mode, the prototype appears complete. From this vehicle mode design, it would appear that this Bumblebee uses the same transformation scheme as the Universe Legends Bumblebee. Will he be only Bumblebee or will we have immediate repaints on the way? Click above to view all images.
Update: New painted protoype images from iGear's website have been added to the gallery. |

Talk of the devil! Look who just showed-up at Yahoo Auctions, Japan? Hello Jolt!...Is that you? Have you put on a few pounds or something? Or a nice hair-cut?
It’s always nice to see a friendly face. This time it looks like the guy who transplanted the Afterburners on Optimus Prime. From the looks (the Chevrolet Volt car and the Mechtech gun) we can assume that this is the Transformers: Dark of the Moon Deluxe Class Jolt mentioned on the recently revealed toy list. You can take a look at the images by visiting the auction site mentioned above. Yes… no robot mode. Jolt art by Transformers: Nefarious cover artist Brian Rood. |

TFW2005 sponsor Red leader from Kapow Toys has written a pictorial review for the new Xovergen Grand Patriot Red & White figure:
This guy is strange - awesome presentation box, nice little comic and a neat idea, it just doesnt quite come off. First impressions when you get it out of the box are ''my god its light!'' you then panic that its fragile and is going to break in your hands until you spend a bit of time with it.
