Hey everyone! As I posted earlier over on the "Look What I Just Got" thread, I bought the new Voyager class Megatron from the new Transformers Prime line.

Noodlechow requested some pics, so I snagged my recent TF Prime Wheeljack as well and staged a mini fight with ol' "Megs" and I hope this'll convince you guys to snag this figure if you see him. Very very cool... (and this is coming from a usually non-transformer collector) ;D

Quick Points of Review
Pros:
* Excellent overall look, blends movie and classic design superbly.
* Joints are nice and tight, easy to get him into many dynamic poses.
* Mechtech weapon is cool, doesn't weigh his arm down much.

Cons:

* No waist, wrist or ankle swivels, limits poseability a bit.
* Head is severely restricted by neck placement (should have set it slightly higher, head sculpt itself is detailed and awesome though).
* Matte grey color scheme is a little bland..would have benefitted from a distinctively silver paint job or at least a darker paint wash to give it some depth.

Despite a few hiccups here and there, an overall "Must-have" figure.

Nice review and pics. Looking forward to getting him myself.

And this thread belongs in the Review forum.

EDIT: We also have threads for all eras of TFs in the One-Line-Per-Thread forum. Feel free to post some pics there as well.

According to the packaging, yes.

Yep, it does indeed light up but the led used for the feature seems a little weak for me. I'll have to try it again with all the lights off and see if it looks any better.

ah yeah, i saw prime at walmart and was thinking it'd look better if they'd gone with white or blue leds since the light from those would carry through the blue plastic better.

also prime rang up at 19 something so 20ish bucks for a voyager class item is just about right.

I saw this and the optimus prime at tru the other day and had to keep myself from buying both, it wasn't easy and I'm not even a tf guy. However it was one I couldn't say no to. The iron hide dotm leader class I think.....I'm so on that on payday lol

Megs looks pretty cool...but the colors are kinda generic- swap the purple for black, add in some red on the legs for that classic G1 color palate and maybe chrome him out- at least add some silver acrylics.

The TF toys are amazing now for their posability- those pics are just great- but to me, the designs are kinda...messy. I loved the clean lines and obvious transformation points of the boxy G1 gang- all that stuff on Meg's back kinda throw it's coolness for me.

And the less said about the movie line the better- those guys look like junkions- over-detailed and impractical.

Target has the Voyager toys for $19.99 right now. Seen TONS of Primes and two or three Megatrons. TRU prices are insane.

Just picked up Megs and Optimus over the weekend and I echo both Mastersteef's review and my earlier comments. Yes, a slightly tweaked paint scheme would do him wonders, but he's still a great figure and definitely worth picking up.

Same goes for Prime, but I'll save the details for his review thread.

What's the size of thos figure? It's hard to tell in the pics, but it looks kinda small.

Transformers should just go nuts and make G1 cartoon versions in 10-15" size- they culd chill with my Galactus...maybe play some cards.

The voyagers are about 6-7" depending on the character.

They do. They're called Transformers Masterpieces. There have been 5 released in the US (TRU/Walmart exclusives) and at least 10 in Japan.
