Awesome review, thank you! Those pics really sell it too.

Just a note, the texture definitely was present for his repainted look in the last two episodes of Mandalorian Season 2. It's smooth in some places, where the metal was showing on the 'Cobb Vanth' version of the armor, but the rest wasn't. So the Hot Toy figure is very accurate to what was on screen.

So I went and looked at the caps after you said that. I think you are correct, but in 90% of them it's so faint you can't tell. It's much more pronounced on the Hot Toys version. That may be due to compression in caps and streaming, dulling the fine details. But even in 4k HDR etc etc it's hard to spot the paint over and chipping.

The best example I could find was this shot, where the light is hitting it at the right angle to show depth.

It is definitely more pronounced on the Hot Toy, I agree. So I have to take back the 'very' part of my first post. And also, yeah, you can see it better when the light hits it just right. Which, in the episodes that costume appears in, isn't often at all.

After The Believer came out, I immediately went to town studying that costume and converted most of my suit to that version. I couldn't bring myself to do the texture, nor repaint my helmet, so my suit ended up being more of an amalgam since I still have the ESB helmet and ROTJ gauntlets. But before that, I poured over so many screencaps and have that episode and the beginning of The Rescue memorized now.

Sidenote, that's my costume in my profile picture.

Thank you! It feels bad ass. I've only worn it on halloween and to events at schools but that's plenty for me.

Fantastic pics as always, Tony!
I just wanted to say, the new Mandalorian DX Luke Skywalker is worth your consideration. I just got mine yesterday and he’s absolutely incredible. If you have any attachment to the character, I think this is the best any company has ever made him in plastic (and fabric) form.

Awesome photos Tony, and that is a stunning looking figure! Hot Toys seems to have done a great job with it.

Also, are you using projector for the backgrounds? They are really nice!

RE: Projector - nope, television. I bought one for the photo area to just keep there and use for this stuff. Another buddy of mine mentioned a projector recently so may need to look into that as an option tho.

Man, those shots really are good. A person could be forgiven for mistaking them for still images from the show. Very nice.

Thanks. Still self teaching the TV background methods, blending the two, matching lighting, etc. Work in progress. My goal right now is to trigger a second look to see what's going on even if when you look close you know it's not a still. Some of the guys that do this can legit nail it where you can't tell even zoomed in.

Haha, someone noticed! I got that head years ago not knowing what I would ever use it for because I don't do 1/6. Now I just slap him on whatever few 1/6 I get for chuckles.
