Newbie and first post so bare with me here! I have bought some of the Tron Legacy toys with the intention of adding them to my large collection of various movie merchandise. My collection includes; Lord of the Rings, Sin City, Star Trek, Star Wars and now Tron. I also have various movie stands, light box advertising placards etc.

Something dawned on me, some of the Tron toys have batteries already installed. I don't want to open them to take the batteries out as I want them all to remain packaged.

My question is this, will the batteries eventually corrode ruining the figures?

I appreciate any responses on this.

thanks

Kevin

I have 5 or 6 light up figures from the 80's and 90's; none of them show signs of corrossion. I guess it's a possibilty but I've never seen it. The only thing I've noticed is that the light up feature doesn't work over time.

Given time yes they will corrode, but odds are it will take a long time to or never will be visible from the outside. So you either can let them corrode in box looking MOC but slowing dying from the inside out or take a blade to the packaging remove the batteries keeping the figure safe and only slightly damaging the packaging. I'd go the with the second option favoring the toy over the package, but I'm a loose and custom guy so it's up to you really.

Thanks Snailbot, I want to keep them all packaged so this is reassuring. Been able to pick them up very cheaply in Scotland and I am on constant look out for them. I live in hope of stumbling across a Castor series 2 tucked at the back of a shelf but that seems very unlikely!

Thanks Jansolo, I hate to take any of them out of the packaging. I have boxes and boxes of figures in the attic all in containers still in their packages. I am hoping the Tron figures can stand the test of time. The vehicles will be fine as the batteries are not inside the toys but the figures concern me a bit!
