Stopped by the local TRU (Middletown, NY) and saw the current wave and picked up my Steve Rodgers. With tax the fig was over 9 bucks! Great figure and all but don't you think this is getting a bit out of hand?

Welcome to the Forums! I've noticed the price increase to 8.49 for at least a couple of months now. Almost everything at TRU is marked up anyway.

Same here $8.49 at my TRU before they moved house. If these things reach over $10, I'm dropping the line. I'd rather put that money into some DC Direct stuff, MS or ML, OR GI Joe's for $6-something at my Walmart.

They're $8.50 by me, but still $8 at Targets & Walmarts. TRU ups prices a lot, especially with larger items like Galactus/Sent, MP Transformers, etc. MP Rod is up to $70 now.

That is a bit nutz. Remember 25th anniversary joes started a $4.88 and rose to $10. They leveled off now at $6-8. I agree If they want $10 for a single 4 inch fig with little to no accessories people will slow down on collecting the line. Now most of the later 25th Joes can be found for $2-4 bucks at Job Lots. The whole 4 inch toys costing as much as a 7 inch ML size fig is disturbing. I know DC have been $15 for a while and I get the $20 MOTUC. But you seem to get a lot more plastic for you money with those. If you're going to do a 4 inch line you need to keep the cost down.

LOL, still cheaper than Canada. TRU, though, they're bums. I bought a couple of boxes of LEGO Kingdoms from them, one of the King's Carriage Ambush and the other one the Mill Village Raid from their website. Then not even 3 weeks later, they went on sale for 30% off, I asked for a credit and they refused and I was like "I'm just going to return them and rebuy them, why not make it easier for both of us?" and they gave me this Toys R Us policy BS. AKA, if you want a discount, you'll have to do some work for it.

Dude, not to sound rude, but Move to Canada and pay what we pay and then talk to me about price issues! For every MU,IM,THOR,CAP figure we pay $9.99+ tax, unless there's a bogo or sale on we are stuck paying that. $24.99 for the comic 3 packs like xforce, ff4, avengers and around $18.99 for the comic 2 packs. Just saying we pay more and wine less lol....plus due to the damn language laws we have to wait months to get the same wave you have now. HASBRO!

Nah, to be fair, we definitely pay more, but we also definitely whine more (justified or not).

This man speaks the truth. Sometimes, we don't even get the wave. So far at my retail stores, the Vision wave and Thanos wave have been completely skipped. Only place that carries DCUC is TRU for 19.99 plus tax. Our gas is more expensive, along with food, drink, ect. Life isn't cheap up here lol.

Not to get into politics or national identities, but some of this tends to even out due to health insurance and other taxes in the Great White North. What is really strange is Hasbro has tried to lower the MSRP on figures, but stores still jack the price up. MSRP on a GI Joe figure was suppose to be, I believe, 5.99 but stores kept it at 6.99 and up until Hasbro raised the MSRP themselves to 6.99. I remember when stores went BELOW MSRP all the time - not so these days.

Toys R Us has been playing fast and loose with their prices for far too long now.

Also, Zellers [Target] in Canada has single carded MU figures for 12.99 and comic packs for 24.99. Last I checked anyways.

There's a TRU in brooklyn that gets weird japanimation items, but charges way more for everything, even if they tend to have rare stuff , it's seriously 25.00 plus tax for a comic pack, while singles are 10, no idea why.

It did allow me to pick up a deadpool and taskmaster pack, though I gave taskmaster to my brother.

Prices will rise but it'll drop again.

The did the same thing for Iron Man 6'' figures. TRU had them priced at $17.99 for a little while. Now they're back down to $14.99 or so.

I figure the increase to just keep shelves full for now till the holiday season.

Every time there is a whine about prices, a Canadian always pipes in to say, oh yeah, lucky you don't live in Canada. So I'd say the whining is about equal. The only difference is you don't start the whining, you just post follow ups Not to say I don't agree about the price disparity, but you make out in the long run, you actually live in Canada, so that's better off right from the start. I mean c'mon, you have Timbits. Sure they have a couple stores in the states, but have you ever had Timbits in the US, they just don't make them as good as Canada does.

I feel my Canadian cousins pain, we are paying $9 at Target/Walmart and $10 at TRU for single figs, $18-20 for comic packs, and havn't even seen the team packs. Havn't even seen wave 14 or 15 yet, or any of the 2011 comic packs. Part of the hobby though.
