Sadly yes Spectacular Spidey was the best and got axed for the new show because Disney didn't make it or some bullshit. I still haven't gotten around to watching all of the episodes yet (still sitting in my DVR) but one thing I have enjoyed from what I've seen is Coulson. He trips me out every time I see him. "We can still save the budget!"

Spectacular Spider-Man BLEW AWAY the 90's cartoon. 90's cartoon (both Spider-Man and X-Men) had horribly inconsistent animation. Peter was bulkier than Eddie Brock, MJ's chin was freakish, and the pacing was horrible. Only two good things came out of the 90's Spider-Man cartoon: Edward Asner's J. Jonah Jameson (Who obviously influenced Sam Raimi's casting of J.K. Simmons) and the much more streamlined origin of Venom.
Is it really that good? I've never seen an episode of Spectacular Spider-Man but I think cause a few minutes one time and I just didn't like the character models for the villains. It think it was Green Goblin I saw and it just reminded me too much of the visual style from "The Batman" which I didn't like (though I enjoyed the show). If it's worth watching I might track it down. I loved the 90's Spider-Man and X-Men series, even if the animation wasn't always the best. I grew up with them and they shaped my understanding of those character as a kid. I do think that the stories in those shows still hold up well after all this time, most of them anyway. I'd be down for anything that tops that. On the topic of Ultimate Spider-Man I've only watched half of the first episode as I haven't had the time but I don't know how I feel about the whole team thing. Spider-Man has always been inclined to team up with people but never for long, until recent years I guess. Would have liked it if they had chosen Iceman and Human Torch.

Anyways the comic idea I mentioned happened already several times in fact the original went for 150 issues which was at a time when comics came out regularly once a month and so it lasted over 10 years. I was being stupid |

I do find it interesting that they introduced Venom in this past episode but not Eddie. And what's Harry going to do with it now? As kiddish as this show is, it has it's moments.

I think a Deadpool cartoon like that would have potential but everyone would want it to be rated r so that would be the only downfall, from marketing stand point

yeah, im not at all keen about the ultimate universe, but in the toon venom acted as its own sentient entity without being attached to a host, it talked.

If they used "The Deadpool Show" to spoof old Saturday Morning superhero cartoons.Make it sort of a mix of this Ultimate Spidey (With the cut aways and fourth wall breakage), Freakazoid, and throw in a bit of Batman: Brave and the Bold (With the constant team-ups and sillyness we saw with things like the Musicmeister ep). Have him rely more on swords and less on "stunguns." I think they could present the spirit of the character, in a way that's accessible to most people. He wouldn't be the first inappropriate, sociopathic and psychotic cold blooded murderer that's been turned into a kid-friendly character. *cough*Wolverine*cough*

pretty much, just stop killing people, no vulgar language and you can basically do anything. Little kids love wolverine from the things they see not the comics. They dont realize the claws just make it easier to turn a person into pieces.
Everyone loves a smart ass, even MvC3 he's mildly entertaining the first time you hear his catch phrases. |

Actually, I think in the right context, they could divorce Deadpool from the more undesirable elements, and still keep the spirit of the character.

That whole he's a murderer but trying not to be but still murdering and kids love him is his staple. Deadpool is not a hero. He's a Merc. Take away the Merc part and...well you get something kind of like this US show we've been discussing. He's definitely got his hilarious moments and him being completely outrageous makes more sense for his character than Spidey because Deadpool is insane. I like CJ's idea because it kind of reminds me of the stuff that Justsomerandomguy does with him for his I'm a marvel and I'm a DC skits on YouTube.

A comedy series, each standard 22 minute program consists of two 11 minute shorts, per episode. One short revolving around deadpool, the other one revolving around the Great Lakes Avengers (Dispite Tony Stark's constant cease-and-decist lawsuits.)

I LOVED Deadpool in Hulk Vs. I don't know if he could support his own show, but I was reallly looking forward to him being in Wolverine and the X Men. Too bad that went down the shitter, too...

That's what I like about him, his character and character development stay consistant. Last edited by yourfacehere; 04-20-2012 at 08:09 PM.. |

i remember seeing a blog or something once where bruce timm put up designs of marvel characters done in their animation style. It was something you had to grow into, but the avengers cartoon is something similar.

It was good to see Iron Man in the series. I hope they do more team ups with other Marvel characters as well. Of course they did it because Iron Man is the really the most popular character right now, but I'm sure that will change if the new spidey movie is any good.

yeah im not liking this show much anymore. the teen titans crap is getting real annoying/distracting. And spidey has the worst personality on the show.

That's funny since he's the main character! The Venom episode was tolerable, haven't seen the newest one yet...just hearing you say this makes me think twice.
