Hey! Quinten is right up there with me! Gotta call his ISP provider and say he's threatening the president or something...
Sure, he'll be sent to Gitmo, but hey- free Sentinel for me, right?

Sorry Quinten.

I live 5 mins from 2 Wal-Marts, but only 1 carries MU.

From my resent experiences with areas outside of main cities I have determined that Wal-Marts in rural areas are a poor place to find MU or DCUC (sorry for the crossover). I may find something interesting occasionally (this is the Midwest afterall) but usually there are just older, poorly painted figures and nothing new to mention. That says a lot about what they stock, where even the recent Crime Syndicate sets (DC) are painted poorly and only unpopular MU can be found most of the time, unless you are truly lucky and stumble into one of their stores right after they mysteriously restock.

I just find it odd and learning quickly. The smaller wal-marts always have the better stuff. My Wal-mart is the 2nd largest in BC, and we got nothing [minus 5 F4 packs, 4 Avengers 6 X-Force, 2 sentry comic packs and a Cap Brit] but they never get the newest stuff at any given time. I blame Hasbro just as much as Walmart. Walmart for being lazy and having an "auto ordering" bullshit, and Hasbro for sending out MU by assortments and not wave.

I don't quite understand it myself. There are obviously certain things that sell better and keeping supply low is cost effective and keeps demand high, but Walmart just screws itself over. If they ordered multiple cases of new figures (which I'm sure they could easily do) and periodically checked to see which ones were selling and replenished them accordingly to fill in the gaps, things would work out in their favor. Evidently the marketing team at their almighty corporation haven't a clue what to do to corner our interests, and that my friend, is ok with me. Fuck Walmart.

I only got Wal-mart for my MU needs. Zellers over charged for...well wave 1 figures. 12.99? Pllleeease, and 24.99 for comic packs. The thing is, even WHEN Wal-mart gets new product, hasbro screws us [or just me, swear they are out to get ME] with old crap no one wants. Then it will sit there and go on sale for 8.99 and still go nowhere and sit there for EVER.

At first I thought that I needed to shop at the larger Super Walmarts to find the good stuff. But when I went shopping yesterday , I noticed there are still some Walmarts with huge toy isles and no MU or Gi Joes at all. They had hotwheels in 4 places and Transformers were everywhere.

Well, stores in general are the ones who decide what they actually want to order right? So I'm guessing Hasbro may be having a somewhat tough time trying to sell Wave 15 to retailers. Which probably may explain the speed at which Wave 16 is hitting the Philippines or other areas - a lackluster wave (to us collectors that is) with Iron Man, Wolverine, and (maybe) Magneto, y'know the "mom/dad friendly guys".

My closest Walmart is pretty dang good at keeping the shelves restocked. The toys department employee who works the noon to afternoon shifts is a kid I sorta knew in high school and he does a fantastic job. It's just that they're usually late with the new stuff.

Also, if anyone happens to remember my post(s) in the Marvel Appreciation thread about that morning employee who caught me stashing stuff....
I encountered him a second time, and boy was he being a jackass. I just waltzed into the MU aisle with a clear mind seeking the latest wave (nothing of course). And he came and asked me if I needed anything again (note: no Walmart employee has ever asked to assist me), except he had this sarcastic grin on his face. I responded dully with the usual, and he left. I then picked up a Daredevil who had this darker color scheme, so I was surfing with my phone to see if it was some variant or something (while holding it). He came back and leaned at the end of the aisle watching me, which was VERY close mind you and stood there for a good FULL 3-4 minutes while I was legitimately researching - he was just doing it so blatantly. Like "I'm totally screwin' with you like this on purpose". Guess I'm on the potential shoplifter list or something. Except that I think shoplifting's for depraved ass-wipes and I'm firmly against it. His behavior was understandable, but he didn't need to go that far really - he was just being a jerk from then on.

So I got pissed and left with nothing.

Whoa, sorry about the run-on paragraphs, had to get that off my chest - hee.

haha that is kinda a jerk thing but if he caught you stashing once, he's prolly bored enough to make sure he sees where you stash it to put it back on the pegs.

I have a Wal Mart (and Target too actually) rant: how do you guys stop the cashiers from mauling your MU figs at the cashier stand? Yesterday i picked up the new Submariner (the only one on the shelf mind you so I couldn't get another) and the lame cashier bumped and pawed it she rang it up. I like to keep my figs in package so I was pissed and both chain stores are guilty of this. Any tips on how to salvage figs? (this happened to me with the only Cable I've seen in the wild too and that really pissed me off too).

If it's just figs that I am picking up, I will use the self check out. If not I just ask them nicely to be careful with them. That usually works.

two of the walmarts near my house don't even carry MU. I have to drive a few miles just to look. It's horrible. But whoever is the department manager of the toy section has control over the ordering.

Dude, make that work for you. Buy your figures at the WM's that carry them, and get a price reduction at the ones who don't carry them anymore. It works, it's legal, and the customer service reps are always happy to help.

When I went to my local walmarts grand opening I got two ML deadpools. This was about 4 years ago so yeah he was ancient at that point. Good news was getting two. Bad news is how old they were at the time.

I once heard all sales at WM are tracked, and if items do not sell, the items are not purchased for restock. It goes by demand I suppose, so if noone buys them they stop selling them, or if they sit on the shelf way too long they fall off the reorder list. I actually saw an Ice Giant two pack on a table for sale for half.

can someone please tell me where the logic lies in having a red "clearance" tag with the SAME price as before?

Red tag doesn't always mean clearance. It could also mean return. Some Wal-Marts I walk into have a scanner to scan the product. It prints out a red tag and they stick that on the box.

well I guess that could be an answer but alot of the time if anything is in their "clearance" isle/pile it has a red tag.

I've seen figures with a "clearance" sticker for the retail price too, at a Walmart that was remodeling about a month ago. It had nothing to do with it being returned, I just think some shitty employee was supposed to clearance out stuff and didn't do so well on the MU.

You just have to know where to hide things. I didn't have money for my Iron monger at the time. So I hid him in the educational toy section at TRU. NOBODY buys pink telescopes. Let alone the ones on the top shelf.
