Well, hey.
I'm new here. I'd love to start an MOTUC collection. Guess who jumped on the bandwagon late. That' concern #1. Starting so late in the game, it would be really hard acquiring older figures, wouldn't it? (expensive too) I'm also not big on boxes and the MOC business. This isn't a line where that's as acceptable, is it? I can't really justify a $50 He-Man when all I'm going to want to do is open it. Does anyone keep these puppies loose? Also sounds like ordering new figures is rough. Sold out in an hour? yeesh. rough. Any info and help on the line would be appreciated. Excited to be just starting out (hopefully). Hello & Welcome!
You can find loose MOTU Classics on ebay, but I see them sell for almost the same price as MISB figures. MattyCollector will also be re-releasing the main characters in the line. He-Man & Skeletor are already gone, but Beast Man is next. I only collect AFA/MISB figures, but if you collect loose figures, that's your choice. I always tell people to be online & ready at noon Eastern Time every 15th of the month. Even then, you take your chances at being able to complete your order. Good luck in completing your collection.

First off, welcome to Toyark!
You can count on them re-releasing stuff, my collecting advise is to be patient. This stuff is plastic crack they are selling, (and they know it) they will try to cash in as much as they can. Think of collecting as a long journey, not a race, and you will be ok.

Welcome to ToyArk!
And yeah, I second the advice to be patient. Sometimes that long wait for a certain figure can make finally getting him all the more satisfying. I know I feel this way about Hordak, King Greyskull and She-Ra. Those are all the ones I plan on getting from MOTUC. MOC, or loose is varied per person. I'm personally a loose collector myself as I prefer posing em, and using them as shelf pieces. But they do lose a shade of value when you do that. Sometimes characters are just so popular it doesn't matter, but it's really a matter of how you want to approach it. Some walk a fine line inbetween, keeping the packaging, and opening them carefully to be repacked if ever needed. I tend to do that with my Imports at least, and thankfully japan has packaging to allow for that. No clue about that on MOTUC packaging, as I'm still waiting to get hordak and king greyskull. |

How often do they reissue figures? It isn't a monthly release as well is it? I'll wait for some mos def. Tri-klops, Stratos, and Man at Arms I can wait for. He-man and Skeletor won't come along again anytime soon will they? (discounting battle armor, of course)

Welcome to the Toyark!
At the moment, Mattel doesn't have a set pattern or a particular list of who will be reissued, but you can be sure it will most likely be the more popular characters. Chances are you could see those three again sometime in the future. For those that they've already re-issued, it may be a long time before they come around again. If you're really serious about jumping head-first into this line, my suggestion would be to get a Club Eternia subscription, as that will help with the current figures and you get a club exclusive for "free". Re-issues are still on you to pick up (since you may not want dupes). Although getting dupes would solve the whole "open it or not" problem. For me personally, I'm a loose collector but I do have some things MIB and MISB. It usually depends on how many versions of the mold I already have (repacks, redecos or remolds) and how easy the packaging is to put back together once it's been opened. Like Snow said, imports are a lot easier to work with than domestic stuff (unless it's a convention or specialty shop exclusive).

I would agree with starting off with getting an Eternia Subscription if you are serious about collecting. You get extra figures and all of the figures will be automatically ordered and shipped to you. You don't have to worry about dealing with the site time outs and any other issues that may or may not arrive.
In regards to the older figures, I would suggest eBay as a source, or even message boards. You can try he-man.org, or even here! See if people are looking to sell or even trade. The great thing about this board is that it's filled with knowledgeable people who are willing to help others with answers to questions or even for toys! |

So I picked up a pretty cheap He-Man reissue on ebay so the collection is officially started. I think the subscription is out because I'm only a casual MOTU fan and I know I won't want every figure. Maybe half of them. I appreciate all the help, guys! Good to get feedback.
Oh. I can't wait for Battle Cat. ![]() |

Glad to help
![]() You could always sell the ones you don't want from the subscription on Ebay or the message boards to fund your search for the older releases. But the subscription's a bit of coin to put up front, especially if you only plan on getting a few each year. Oh, and Battle Cat does look awesome!

I joined the band wagon a year late and still cought up. It was good because you can skip the first issue He-Man & Skeletor with the reversed shoulders and stiff skirts and just go with the reissues. After using the monthly sales page for half a year I got a sub. It's def worth it and so is the line. I open everything too so paying more than 35 for them is out of the question. Good luck and happy hunting.
