So, browsing a favourite site of mine a couple of days ago I saw this. A gallery of Clone Wars Plo Koon.
Now, I'm a semi-big Plo Koon fan and a big fan of the new CW cartoon and style, and needless to say, I was really excited for this guy, and still kinda am. The only problem is that he has almost NO leg articulation! He's a great sculpt and his arms have a fairly more-than decent range of motion but his legs swivel at the hip and that's it. Fast-forward to here. Pretty awesome lot of figs, huh? Bigger pictures of teh individual figs even reveal that the new BD has bending knees! Yet the same pictures show that Kit Fisto has no knees or ankles! Seriously, is there a law that Jedi can't have Knees or ankles? I have the same problem with Grievous. The dude is practically a brick but he still LOOKS really cool. So, yeah, little rant. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 12-01-2008 at 06:19 AM.. |

I totally get what your saying but It's an ongoing problem hasbro has been up front about. If you look at alot of past female figures in the regular line alot of them are missing leg and knee joints. When they would put them in fans would complain about cankles. Hasbro complained that when the legs get to skinny the can not put the joint in because the plastic is too thin. Fast forward too the clone wars where ALL the humans are super skinny. I expect leg joint to be hit or miss for the entire length of the series

I would almost beleive that if it weren't for the clones. They all have proper articulation in the legs, and there's even an Battle pack Anakin (the one with the STAPs and the dying battle droid) that's coming out that has knees and ankles, so I know they CAN do it.

It may have something to do with the clones having armor and just enough extra plastic on their legs to work in the joints. With the humaniod figures, it might be more difficult to pull off.
I'm sure if they can find a way, they'll do it.

Yeah, I was just checking my Clones, and while they're not THAT much thicker, it does look significant enough that it could make a difference.

So, I've heard that the Anakin from the B'Omarr Monastery Assault HAS ball-hinged knees and ankles, and has a cloth skirt. Damn. Oh well, I've held of getting Anakin so far so I'll get that two-pack, but still. Grrr.

You are correct and it makes the figure much better although the ankle area looks a little wide

As for me, I'm waiting it out til next year to see if the jedis get more articulation. The B'Omarr monastery pack has the fully articulated Anakin I want, but truthfully, that's the main part of the set I want, the STAPs and battle droid aren't the reasons I would be buying that set. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Grevious and the jedis all fully articulated in the line eventually, so I'm going to be patient and see what is announced. |

I see your point, quite clearly, actually. The STAP pack was always on my list, as I still needed Anakin and at least ONE BD, plus some vehicles for display and I've, personally, always loved the STAP design.

Well, that's one way around the issue. You should put him in the customs forum.
"He's more machine now, than man." (Sorry, just couldn't resist).

The "legs too skinny" argument holds very little water with me, seeing as how Ahsoka has knees AND ankles. And if they can fit universal joint elbows into Plo's arms, they certainly should've been able to do the same with his knees. Quote:

I purposely held out awaiting a better Anakin, and see how my patience has been rewarded!
I can forgive Plo, as he is in a good action pose and he's got the extra weapons and looks the shit. Check Rebelscum's forums and search the CW section for Kit Fisto and there's a bigger pic of him in the thread. |

^ Ah. Found the pics. Yeah, definitely no ankles or knees on Kit. I remain incompletely convinced that the Jet Pack BD has knees.
In other news, the Magnaguard doesn't look to have any joints below the hips, either. Ugh. Pics of Drokideka, Padme, Space Gear Clone, Magnaguard, and Goldie: 20081017 |

I know exactly what you mean. Why should Battle Droids have knee articulation when Grievous could use it a whole lot more. Hopefully the leg articulation imporoves on these figures because I really do like the sculpts of them

When I get Grievous I'm modding him. I even have some some joints set aside. But I'll only be able to give his connected arms elbows, but since he uses them the most it's K. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 12-01-2008 at 06:21 AM.. |
