Okay, so I heard how great Bespin Luke was, and I did stumble upon ROTJ Luke a few weeks back at Kmart. While at Target not too long ago, realized there was a sale on the vintage figures, and since I always meant to pick up Bespin Luke, I bought him and a Magnaguard.
Those of you who raved about the Magnaguard weren't lying, that figure KICKS ASS. As for Bespin Luke, I feel the same way! Great figure overall. Does not look sleepy as hell like the VOTC version. Articulation is great and the head sculpt is better(but still does not strike me as Mark Hamill...then again, IMHO, none of the newer Luke figures do, except for the old late 90's ones). Weird huh? Anyways, Bespin and ROTJ Luke kick ass all around, not just because their sculpts are more proportionate than previous versions, but because of their hip articulation. Normally I hate this type of articulation on Star Wars figures because it looks weird. I've come to realize that it primarily looks weird on armored figures, like clone Troopers. Figures with pants sculpted at that area, like the Clone Mandos and the recent Lukes, actually fare well. So what's missing is, a original trilogy Darth Vader on par with the latest vintage collection Lukes. What do both Lukes have in common? Both were based on versions of Luke when he dueled with Vader. This is the reason why I held off buying the vintage collection Vader for now. I already have TAC wave 3 Vader with the young face, and Legacy Collection wave 1 Vader with old face and 2 part helmet. The newer one has a 3 part helmet, but aside from that, is essentially the same figure. I want a Darth Vader with ball jointed hips. In fact, I am surprised that we haven't gotten one this year, it would be the perfect compliment to the Lukes we got. I suspect this figure is coming inevitably, I just hope Hasbro releases the most appealing one 1st(ball hips, good paint apps, 3 part helmet, maybe removable right hand and able to grip saber with aforementioned hand). We all know Hasbro loves to repaint and re-release figures with minor to major alterations over time.

every single star wars figure should have ball hips by now. that weak ass hip articulation shared by most sw figures is inexcusable.
but yeah...vader now |
