So I know many of us collect things from when we were kids, but one thing is doing a spectacular job of alluding me. When I was very young (maybe 10 at the most) my grandma bought a few transforming toys (I'm not sure if they were actual Transformers, so calm down) and one of them was a bat that turned into a robot. My cousins and I fought over them, and I eventually ended up with the one I liked the most - The Bat one. Now I've seen the big ugly gray thing online recently, but what I'm talking about was a small black (maybe dark brown) action figure of a bat creature. it transforms. I can't find it. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Sounds like a Gobot, offhand. I'm looking some things up. Be back soon.
A good question is, how old are you? So we have a round about idea of when "childhood" was, so we have a basic timeframe to work with.

I'm 24, and the one you suggested isn't it. The figure itself came from a kid who apparently took very good care of his stuff before selling them off in a yard sale, and it was probably rare even for its time. It was all black from what I can remember.

Never mind. My net connection sucks ass tonight, and not allowing me to look anything up for you.
I suggest checking through this link: Identify Your Unknown Transformer - www.tfu.info.
Check Black, Grey, Purple, and Blue. Purple, blue, and grey can become so dark, and with memory, that they can seem like black.

Yeah, they've been making up nasty transformers for awhile, I somewhat recall a partial name of a half-assed bat one, probably not it though...

I'll let you know if I come up with anything better.

Based on the timeframe, it sounds like a Beast-era toy.

The only one besides Onyx Primal I can come up with is Noctorro, but he was released in 1998. There was also a Gobot called Weirdwing, but he's more of a reddish brown and came out in 1987.

Same here. Mindwipe was also the reason I chased down the other three large Decepticon Headmasters.

Noctorro! I think that's what I was thinking of. Wasn't there some skanky little Optimus bat-like thing?

I think that's it! Thank you, I've been trying to figure it out for years. I remember it being similar to this, but I'm still on the fence. If anyone else has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

I loved mindwipe when I was a kid. He was one of the very few toys that got lost somehow that I don't currently have from my childhood.

If I remember correctly, one of my dipshit cousins tore mine to shreds. Sharing is overrated, haha.

Yeah, the first version of Optimus Primal that came in a 2-pack with Gator Megatron. Onyx Primal is the redeco'd Botcon exclusive version of that mold.

I still have my original, complete and unharmed. I let my cousins play with my Joes and Star Wars figures - never my Transformers. It's probably why most of the toys that survived were TFs.

Unfortunately out of all the miraculous things my grandmother acquired from yard sales for myself and the evil little shits I called cousins, not much survived. Most of it was considered "community", and dibs were only called on certain things. I still remember this immensely huge Cobra command center that I talked her into buying.... which cost $20 at a yard sale back then. It was a giant, white Colosseum structure that blew my little 10 year old mind, and it of course fell in the hands of my dumb relatives, so it was immediately destroyed. I'm not bitter about it, but lets just say they never really accomplished much in life, and I can see why based on how they acted as kids. haha
