I almost have no words for this but, this has always been (and now will forever be) my biggest fear of doing this. Pass. No thanks. Not today, not tomorrow, not next week, NO. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not afraid of bungee jumping, I'm afraid of plummeting headfirst into the Earth. Hehe, I guess I did have some words didn't I? ![]()

"weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee............ ......fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuu..............."
I didn't see any support teams down there. The bungee zone here has 2 boats and a full team of paramedics on site at all times. So if that happened here, that person would be out of the water faster than it took him/her to get wet.

I use to work in construction and one day i decided to use the lift at this job and drill holes 30 ft in the air as soon as I got up there n the lift wiggled my legs locked up n i couldn't move I couldn't even use the control panel to get back down they had to use the one at the bottom of the lift.... And that day i decided sky diving, bungie jumping, and any other thing that has me leave the earth crust my be an issue for me lmao!!!!!

Nope she survived!!! she was washed down river, through white water rapids, managed to stay afloat (despite her legs being tied),then the snapped cord snagged something on the river bottom, she had to dive down to free it,and she finally made her way to the shore......and THAT is why you dont do dangerous activities in countries with somewhat "loose" attitudes to health+safety...

I did this crazy swing...thing... several years back- twice as tall as a bungee jump but on a sorta sling that you lie down on two two of your friends.
It raises you up slooowly- backward! Then it drops you can you freefall for like five seconds as the swing shoots back upward on an arc as high as you started out...then it's back to freefall....over and over untill the swing loses it's inertia and they let you out at the bottom. |

I'm not into any of that "jumping from things" shit. Even if I was; I'm sure as hell not strapping myself to another dude to do anything, let alone to jump out of a moving plane.

I saw that story on the news last night and it's not really helping my opinion of the activity. I hold bungee jumping in the same regard as recreational diving.
Steven Wright once said about acrophobia: "I took my dog out for a walk around the building...on the ledge. Some people are scared of heights - not me. I'm scared of widths."

Even if there was medical personal present if you die on impact it wouldn't matter.

It's hard to tell from the angle, but most of the time, you get pretty damn close to the water. You will only get whiplash and may drown. If it broke as you where going UP...different story.

Diving on the other hand, wow, I love it. As a matter of fact I'm certified up to 90', the ocean has always been a big part of my life so diving just came natural. IIRC, ersico is certified too, he's a big ocean nut like me (probably moreso even, check out some of his underwater photography sometime). ![]() A dream of mine, since I was little, was to swim with a great white. I get an adrenaline rush just thinking about it! Eff plumetting to Earth doing a 132 mph headfirst!

I am a recreational skydiver, damn near a professional one. I was trained by the military during my time in special operations. Skydiving statistically is safer than driving a car. There are many years of research and testing that have made skydiving just about as safe of a high risk activity as there is.
I'm closing in on 500 jumps and it's just about the most fun you can have doing anything. When the weather allows it, I jump about every weekend, sometimes during the weekdays since I live about 5 minutes from the drop zone. That being said, I would never bungee jump, there are too many variables, the chance for some type of injury is pretty much assured, there's no back up safety outlet and it seems like it's just not worth the risk. But plenty of people bungee jump just about every day, all around the world, so it's all in what you feel comfortable doing. Everybody dies fellas, not everybody lives. ![]()

Always wanted to go Skydiving, Bungie Jumping, White Water Rapid...ing. List goes on. The one thing I will never, EVER do, is THIS.
Not happening. What I would love to do is this... Really get to feel like Superman...

As to the bungee thing, a guy at my old gym had broken his neck from a freak accident doing that- the cord wrapped around his ankle on like the second or third bounce and the shock did a Gwen Stacey on him.
Thankfully he recovered by he had a "halo" driled into his head for months to keep him neck aligned while it healed...(shudder). That killed any interest in bungee jumping for me....but i really want to go skydiving! |
