Well im a kinda weird collector,my collection is driven by figures that catch my eye(often the more weird and wonderful figures)hence eXtra Force, the GI Joe Toxo-zombie,Zartan,Predacon,and the awesome 12inch Michael Jackson i got for my bday off my GF!!

The one figure who has ALWAYS been a constant for me is Admiral Ackbar,iv always had a massive soft spot for the greatest hero of the Rebel Alliance, the only versions im missing are the Lego, original RoTJ,and Micro machines versions.

Collecting for me is about having fun with toys, many collectors seem to lose their way and have lost that sense of child-like wonder at how amazing toys can be,they get caught up in "the chase" and end up with loads of MoC/MiB stuff, they dont even really like, they just think they need to own. I love the eclectic nature of my collection, even though i dont really see my self as the "conventional collector"

Ok, just remember you asked for it....

[as Inigo Montoya]: Let me esplain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up.

Franchise?
I have collected several different lines for various franchises over the years, but recently I've been trying to limit it to certain lines. Not always easy. But I'm definitely not someone who want everything from a franchise. I tried that years ago with Star Wars and regretted it almost immediately.

Character?
This plays a huge part in my collecting habits. Sometimes I want every version of a character I can get my hands on, other times I just want that one iconic version. Sometimes its just because I really like the character, even if I don't collect anything else in the line or franchise.

Gimmick/Action feature?
It depends on the gimmick or action feature, really. Normally, I can't stand it when most of the figure is sacrificed for a gimmick (Armada Sideswipe). But sometimes I will still pick up the toy if it falls under one of my other "collecting rules".

Articulation?
Not a deal-breaker, though I am usually in the "more is better" group.

How easy/Hard it is to complete a line?
Doesn't apply as far as an entire line goes, but sometimes it's true for certain "groups" that I have defined (show characters, teams, etc).

Deco choices made for a figure?
No bearing whatsoever, though I try to avoid duplicate decos if I can (unless superceded by one of my other rules).

Basically, my toy collecting rules are as follows:
01. Any and all versions of Soundwave and his minions, regardless of line/alt mode/deco/etc.
02. Same as rule #1, only with War Machine.
03. Every ROTF Scout, including any redecos from other lines (like HFTD and RtS)
04. Every version of Skids and Mudflap from the movie series, regardless of mold or deco.
05. Every unique mold for US mass-released Transformers - no mold duplications unless there is a remold involved, or is superceded by Rule #1, #3 or #4.
06. Every mass-release single pack for MU.
07. Any MU figures I might like based on character and not already included in rule #5.
08. Any version of Snake Eyes from G.I.Joe, regardless of deco/mold usage.
09. All G.I.Joe Renegades figures.
10. Any other Joes that I really like not already included in rules #7 and #8.
11. Complete set of US-released Power Rangers Samuari 4" figures (Rangers only). Also a complete set of Zords from the same line.
12. Complete set of Thundercats 2011 4" figures & vehicles.
13. Any other toys I might like as one-offs (usually based on character or design, like my DCUC Azrael or my Hot Wheels BTTF Time Machine and A-Team Van).

If there was an Inigo Montoya figure, I'd be influenced to buy it from the great movie in which he coined the phrase we all (should) know and love.
