Most I payed was $15 for Dark Avengers variant Ms. Marvel at a comicon. I dont know how some people can pay such crack prices for figures...

Regular size figure was the regular Archangel. I paid $25 for him, but the most was Sentinel at $27 off of Answer. This will probably change soon. I am seriously considering Invaders Red Skull.

SDCC Sentinel and Invaders were tad over $100. Those were the front runners for sure. X-Force Arch was subscription price, but still pricey as others have said.
But single carded stuff I have almost always gotten retail or bbts/online. I got my Blade, Havok variant, and colored Vision all in a wal-mart, so I win out there! Nothing absurd, but did pick up like 2-3 $20 figures through here or ebay otherwise. |

I have an extra Red Skull from Invaders pack I got off ebay china. It was only like 15 bucks I think? It was flawless outside of coming loose with no accessories.

there were reports that classic Red Skull was going to be released in the CA line. i havent read anything about that rumor in a while however.
its true, sdcc invaders RS was released on eBay from Chinese seller - a whole lotta them too. like a WHOLE bunch. so dont overpay for one. i really really dont like to see my fellow board members getting taken for a ride on these figs we enjoy so much. that's the benefit of these boards. access! dont be rookies. play the game right and save your money as much as possible. |

Then there's also distribution/scalper issues that kind of force me to wait on certain figures. It may not be a popular opinion, but I actually really like revision cases sometimes. As for the urge to "buy now or never see it again", I feel like that all the time with toys. But I've learned it rarely happens the first time you see a toy at retail. For me, it's around the fourth or fifth time I passed on it that I never see it again. But there are a few exceptions. Quote:

I remember Thanos being super hard to find for a while... then like that wave hit all over in the new year and Thanos got re-released in two different revision cases right after that I think. I never thought I would ever see Thanos pegwarm... but he did for a little while.
![]() Still don't have him, but he's on my short list if I decide to go beyond retail to finish my Series 2 and 3 collections.

Lol, it's not so much willpower as lack of funds and learning to be patient over the years. Most of my toy money goes to Transformers, which I'm such a sucker for and that are generally more expensive than MU. So there's only so much that can go towards MU or any other lines I might want.

For me, it's around the fourth or fifth time I passed on it that I never see it again. But there are a few exceptions. I still intend to collect one of every single-carded MU figure, so it's still a major commitment on my part: 94 figures (Series 1 -3; no variants/duplicates) at $9.00 USD each comes to a total of $846 USD. That's rent for one and a half months or 3 car payments. I don't even want to think about the math for Peteparker and Exodus's MU collections... =:O |

Sorry, I guess it's the MOC part that made me think that. Very true though about not being a completionist. That's why I make very strict rules when it comes to toy lines and my collecting habits.
If I didn't have those.... *shudder* Quote:
So my wallet isn't as bad...but regarding Transformers. I'm trying to get MP Grimlock and Starscream:P And that should complete my collection until DOTM Wheeljack and Soundwave come out.

I haven't even looked at how much they're going for on the secondary market now. Got them both as Xmas presents the year they were released Stateside (along with MP Skywarp). Sadly, MP Roddy did not follow this trend, so I might see about importing Takara-Tomy's V2 instead.

I picked up MP Skywarp from someone local for 40 so not bad at all, although I read that they were on sale for as much as 20 at the time:P Grimlock is somewhat pricey

So far my most expensive ones have been the Sentinel for $30 and the NYCC Hulk for around $25. Pretty much all the others have been at or around retail.

Considering what some of these figures go for, I don't feel so bad. I paid 20 for phasing Vision at the toy convention, only to find him about at hour or so later at Wal-Mart for 7.99. So I got 2. I also found Moon Knight at the time.
After that, I stupidly paid 12 bucks for Sunfire and Yellowjacket, (right before the revision packs hit retail,) at LCS. After that they were everywhere, in addition to Thanos and Constrictor (the elsuive wave of 2010). It was around this time that I decided to just say fuck it, and buy whole waves. I can just return what I don't need, ahem, exchange, what I don't need, at Wal-Mart, Target, TRU. And before y'all (yes I'm from the Souf) say that's wrong, I help out fellow collectors cause a week later those figures are gone. Of course, I do still NEED X-Force Archangel, (65 would triple my highest), astral Dr. Strange, Hope-Cable,...and I am sure another 1-2 expensive ones that I want that elude me. Needless to say, I learned my lesson, only pay $$ for variants. |

$65 for the Marvel Online Sub. Got the X-Force Archangel and immediately traded hin for a MOC TTT Sgt Slaughter. That was my plan the whole time.
I can't say I regret having to pay the $65 either. The Marvel Sub is definitely worth it.
