Who is this character?

It's an older, kiddie radio, I think from the 80's. The cat on it looks vaguely familiar to me. It's made by Ertl and says "Musictime" on it. Is the cat a character from some old cartoon? Or is he just a generic character made to put on the toy?

Pretty sure it's just a generic mascot character ment specifically for that toy.

If it was a licensed character, it would have that copyright information stamped on the toy somewhere in addition to the information about Ertl. If all it says is the Ertl info, then I'm almost positive it's just a generic image.

looks like it could be a supporting character of heathcliff for all i know. But, like the others said, its probably a generic character.
