1) I'm not a boomer. GenX here, and proud of it!
2) I like the older comics because they seem more real. It looks like a person wearing clothes. Look at Chris Reeve's Superman. He put on lots of muscle for that role. 3) 90's were one of the worst years for comics art Makes me happy to see the intended audience for toys still enjoying them, and not completely saturated with desire for all things electronic. I agree that the over sensationalized 90's art was ridiculous but its what I enjoyed growing up reading comics in that era. At the end of the day, art is all subjective. I didn't care for Christopher Reeve's portrayal and would rather my ideal version of Superman be evolved to what he is today in having the physique of someone who could actually perform those magnificent feats. Toys are still loved by lots of kids. I have a 12 year old who has become more enamored with technology at this point but I did let her play with some of the 3.75" MU figures a few times and she enjoyed it. We have another on the way and damn sure i'm going to have that kid playing with Marvel Legends and other action figures. Any of us who are parents need to keep the action figure play alive and its always a good idea to instill the collectors mentality into a childs mind so that they can appreciate and potentially take care of our collections when we are gone.

It's an extreme example that I use over and over again just because of the praise I see for other artists who could easily have their work ripped apart. I love Jim Lee's artwork but I could show you a few of his examples of some very awful looking feet he's drawn on covers.

I actually didn't Liefeld's art back in the days, and then only when I saw people compare them to those other types of arts is when I realize "oh ok :P" But at the same time it's a comic book, it's his interpretation on how they look per say, so to each their own as I say. Currently kind of catching up with some of the X-Titles and I do have to say that it's quite interesting reading it...Especially the whole part where the Mutants don't really die any more...

Catching up on the x-titles and have to say getting used to the whole krakoa and the resurrection thing. It's actually cool that most of the mutants are united in it.

Finally started reading the second omnibus to the Mirage Comics TMNT run. Just finished the Return to NY storyline.
The issues leading up to it were a bit odd as I wasn't sure if they were supposed to cannonical or not. We've got a good one with retired super heroes, then a Tales issue that finally introduces Leatherhead, who was bad ass. After that came some random ass story about a time traveling girl or something. I have to say, that is probably my least favorite issue currently as I had no idea what the hell was going on nor did I understand its time placement. The next one with Mikey writing a samurai tale was quite interesting. Then we had one that I'm trying to figure out if it was just the brothers visiting Japan or a dream with them helping a restaurant owner. It was enjoyable. Return of NY was great, though it could have been longer. I loved how the first part had very little dialogue. It gave it a cinematic noir feel. The lone Triceraton was unique even if the way they got into the Foot base was a bit farfetched. Seeing various factions of Foot Ninja was cool and gave me more insight on the accessories the NECA figures came with, but I wish there had been a bit more screen time for the Foot. The battle with the clones felt rushed, as did Leo taking out four Enforcers off-screen, as it were. I do love the showdown with Shredder. I really hope NECA gives us an updated Shredder figure that matches this story. Overall, so far so good. I continue to enjoy the hell out of this run. Next issue seems to have that girl with all of the clocks on her and the devil looking dude NECA just released.

It is possible to have a boomer stance on a subject and not actually be a boomer. Typically people who have a "get off my lawn" attitude or "my generation is better then yours" come across as boomers.

On the other hand, most modern versions of Supes have him not gain his powers till his mid-late teens as some form of super-puberty and he's a Kansas farmboy so it makes sense that he'd have some decent muscle build up. |

I am currently reading Legends of the Dark Knight by Norm Breyfogle SHC, vol. 1. Those old stories from 80s have their charm for sure. I read first appearances of Ventriloquist and Ratchatcher. It was a fun read so far. Norm Breyfogle's art was really fantastic at some panels. He drew Batman in some really cool poses. Jason Todd, Robin was in some of the issues that i read, but he was written as a Dick Grayson clone. A good mannered nice kid, not the Jason Todd who is an agressive unruly rebelious punk brat with a temper who talks back at Batman when Batman warns him that that is not how they operate. I really don't know why people hated Jason Todd... HA HA

I've been reading Reign of X and I've gotta say, is it just me, or did the quality take a downturn since X of Swords? Most of the stories have been so god damn boring. Children of the Atom has been the worst of the lot and I just don't get a crap about any of the characters. It seems like someone wanted to make a cheap knock-off X-Men team and it somehow accidentally got added to the books. I'm also lost on what the hell is going on in a few series because there seem to be things going on without any explanation. For example, Sword 2-3 (which Sword has been almost as bad as Children) had the planet engulfed by something and they were fighting dragons. Same goes with Marauders King of Black. I don't get why it was called King of Black when Shaw wasn't even featured in it at all and he's the Black King. It was about Kitty and her gang rescuing slaves from human traffickers while also fighting dragons. Still no explanation about the dragons and then none of the other issues have mentioned anything about it as if those issues were in their own universe. Fortunately, the next two issues of Marauders were better with the stuff going on in Madripoor.
I'm about ready to drop X-Force and Excalibur because those series have really taken a tword for the worst. X-Force has focused on Kid Omega and I do not like him one bit. Exaclibur has been stalling on this whole "We must find Betty" kick. I did like the X-Men issues that featured the trio who went into that weird dome thing before X of Swords and just got out of it now. X-Factor is still my favorite of the lot and both Cable and Wolverine have been interesting. Loved the auction sequence from Wolverine and a young Cable is different. Finally, New Mutants has started to really go off the deep end as if they just gave on up caring about logic. I've also been reading the fifth volume to Uncanny X-Men, which has covered Nimrod and a few other stories that occurred while Secret Wars II was going on.
